Desert CloudsAlternative rockers Desert Clouds return with another slice of pure artistic expression in the form of Under Tons, out now via Jiffybag Records.
Under Tons was written in the perspective of people walking throughout their life towards a destination that, from afar, appears to be going nowhere. The band expand “its a nonsense journey unless you realise where you are really heading to”. As the single builds from a psychedelic blues/folk feel into a full-frontal classic rock anthem, lead singer David Land’s distinct Bowie-esque vocal builds alongside it to create something truly forward thinking. As the grunge-tinged guitars reach full throttle, so do the pulsating drum beats to create a sound akin to that of Queens of the Stone Age or Alice In Chains.
Founded by David Land (vocals / guitar) and Val Wallace (guitar / backing vocals) in London in 2008, Desert Clouds were always inspired by brotherhood ideals and their inner search for a way out. After a few rotations in line-up, the band released their debut album The Floating Oar in 2015, followed by Time Distortions in 2017, which was produced at Mix Room Studio. With Andrea Orabona (drums) and Julius ‘Little Eagle’ Caesar (bass) completing the line-up, Desert Clouds were able to add distortions and groove to create an even further explosive and thrashing sound.
Under Tons, also produced at Mix Room Studio, is out now via Jiffybag Records.
