Kid Cupid
"Kid Cupid find something new to bring to the
table, offering an urgency and authenticity that
are bound to get them noticed."
- The Line Of Best Fit
Following the success of last year’s single Easy, London-based Kid Cupid have now released their debut EP Unholy Ceremony.
Based around conversations you’d have with a friend in pain, the EP is filled with everything you’d want to say to them during a time of need. As opening track ‘Low’ touches on the theme of codependency with twinkling emotion, ‘Cold Body’ is a powerful outcry for answers when hard times seem to control us, whilst brooding EP closer ‘Burn’ concludes the collection with dark, glitchy defiance.
First single Better, however, is a celebratory song in the form of a lush, cinematic soundscape. Filled with the band’s trademark whirring hooks, tribal beats and the silky smooth, soulful vocals of Laura Shaw, it oozes a blissful, impassioned splendour. A perfectly uplifting summer anthem with shades of the likes of Låpsley or Little Dragon.
Gigging together for over a year now, Kid Cupid have been building a reputation for their joyous, immersive live performances, with headline shows at The Garage, Proud Camden and Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen under their belts. Now, having received acclaim from M Magazine, Celeb Mix, Impose Magazine and many more for last single Easy, Kid Cupid hope to entice listeners once again with the euphoric and thought-provoking sounds of Unholy Ceremony.
Unholy Ceremony is out now.
