The Chairman

The Chairman

Infusing elements of soul, gospel, pop, R&B and electro, Denmark’s The Chairman (aka Lucas Berner), has created a diverse yet intimate sophomore album, The Strange Life, out now via Danish Music Entertainment.

Experimenting with song structure and production throughout, The Chairman’s sound undulates from track to track shifting seamlessly from the contemporary pop highlights of forthcoming single Masquerade In The Radio, previous single Dandelions and album track ‘Now That You Love Me’ to the sonically left field efforts of ‘Lemon Yellow’ and ‘Barcelona’. On The Strange Life, The Chairman consistently challenges the listener from start to finish, even including an ode to old school hip-hop sounds on the memorable ‘She’s Not Fine’, playing with various genres, all harnessed beautifully by Lucas’ rich, soulful vocal range.

Originally starting out as a simple bedroom project, The Chairman has taken huge strides over the last couple of years having gained great support in his native Denmark and beyond. Debut album 2064 helped Lucas cement his name back home, with the recently released aforementioned singles having brought his music to the attention of a UK audience, earning support from the likes of Clash Magazine and Amazing Radio.

While Lucas heads up the project, producers Mathias Bang Madsen and Jakob Løkkegaard complement his vision with their ability to infuse electronic soundscapes, adding an extra level of depth to an already impressive body of work. Now, aiming to end 2017 on a high, The Chairman is preparing for his second album release in late September, has been confirmed to play Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival and is in the process of confirming a UK wide tour later this year.

The Strange Life by The Chairman is out now via Danish Music Entertainment.
