Fat Goth
“…Fat Goth are the unholy god-children
of Fugazi and ZZ Top, with their
complex riffology boasting a physical
impact.” - Clash
"...sick shit..."
- 8/10, Rock Sound Magazine
"Fat Goth are 101 percent messed-up."
- Kerrang! Magazine
"If it doesn’t leave you feeling grimy by its conclusion, I have no interest in traipsing through your Internet history..."
- The Line of Best Fit
After eight years, four albums, and praise from the press, it is with a heavy heart that Fat Goth have announced they are calling it a day. The alt-rock trio have three shows planned in Glasgow, Edinburgh and their hometown Dundee, before officially calling it quits.
Wed 18th April - Edinburgh, Sneaky Pete's (with Fatalists and BRITNEY)
Sat 28th April - Dundee, Conroy's Basement (with Stonethrower)
Front man Fraser Stewart had this to say:
"Yes, regrettably it's true. Fat Goth's nemesis, the continent of Australia, has yet again claimed a member of our ranks for its own. This time it's our beloved time-keeper extraordinaire, Mark, who will be leaving Scotland behind for the land down under this coming spring. Those who are familiar with his drumming prowess will hopefully understand the gravity of his forthcoming departure and recognise the absurdity in Kevin and I entertaining the thought of replacing our dear and highly talented chum.
This means Fat Goth is now on borrowed time, but we've managed to book a few farewell shows at some of our favourite venues with some quality bands and it would be truly excellent to see y'all for one last jig before the final curtain is drawn!
Personally, I'm heartbroken at the thought of saying 'goodbye' to what is easily the most satisfying, rewarding, and ultimately fun musical entity I've been fortunate enough to be a part of, and I suspect I'll feel that way for some time. That said, we're immeasurably proud of everything our band has managed to achieve in the last 8 years and we would like to offer up our sincerest gratitude and appreciation for everyone who has supported us along the way. I realise that's a bit of a clichéd thing to say on occasions such as this, but in our case it really is true - cheers guys!
I like to think the three of us will continue to make music under different guises, so we'll be sure to post up something here when there's more to tell. In the meantime, we invite you to help yourselves to our back catalogue which is available for free from our Bandcamp page and ask you to make a note in your respective diaries with regards to the aforementioned dates so we can say 'cheerybye' in the way we know best."
