Goodbye Ed!

ABoF's Claire writes some farewell words for Ed on behalf of team ABoF...

As soon as Ed handed in his notice, I had it in mind that I wanted to write him a tribute blog upon his leaving. It was a shock to us all and we had no idea that he intended to leave us at all but life needs to move forward.

Ed was with us from the beginning. After around a year after A Badge of Friendship’s inception, we met Ed and got him on board to help us out as an intern. We had met him at an Ex Libras gig and chatted about film and TV - I had no idea that that first chat would be the start of a brilliant friendship and someone who would become so integral to A Badge of Friendship and I will always remember that night and we’re thankful he plucked up the courage to speak to us.

When we started the company, we always had it in mind to only work with people whom we genuinely loved and wanted to grow with us. Ed definitely ticked all the boxes and quickly became our backbone as Paul and myself spread our wings and built the company, trying to take it as far as we could fly.

Ed became like family and our office chats were always one of the highlights of our days working together. At times it felt as though we were at school, delirious with laughter in the afternoons between daft chat, making plans ‘after class’ to hang out at our favourite local cocktail bar Graffiti - there was never an awkward moment - everything just fit. Ed was the perfect piece to our ABoF jigsaw and without him now, it will feel very strange indeed. Like a brother that’s left home to pursue his dream of… er… honestly, Ed’s explained it to me what he’s going to be doing a million times and it’s something marketing-y and ‘SEO’ was mentioned. You get me…

So we wish Ed all the best. We’re so happy we’ve made a friend for life and it’s been a brilliant ride. Sadly, he won’t be continuing the journey with us but his spirit will remain at ABoF for many years to come.

Good luck Ed - we’re gonna’ miss ya Beaver Man!
