The Begbies release video for ‘It’s Just The Way’

The Begbies have released their video for single It’s Just The Way out now via Choose Rude Records and available on iTunes.
Combining elements of ska and indie, and in the process coining the term ‘Skindie’, the Glaswegian upstarts have produced their very own soundtrack to the summer by creating a fun, upbeat track that will have you dancing the night away. The lovely folks over at Gigslutz premiered the video and it's now available to watch on The Begbies YouTube channel.

The band have blended their love of classic two-tone ska music with indie influences, creating a unique and energetic sound that is fun and relatable, appealing to a cross section of music lovers, festival goers and casual listeners alike. It’s Just The Way perfectly captures The Begbies high octane sound as massive brass hooks and off-beat guitar is mixed with raw, uplifting vocals and socially challenging lyrics highlighting the hypocrisy and selfishness of the political classes who’s indiscretions are dealt with differently to the masses.
While originally formed in 2010 by Gary Ovens (vox/guitar) and Liam Corbett (guitar) the current line-up didn’t settle until 2015 with Scott Wilson (drums), Kieran Lewis (bass), Callum Stevenson (keys) and Sally Jay and Steph Clark (both saxophone) completing the line up. Not content with treading the usual, mundane well worn path, they have made a habit of playing some of the weirdest shows any band could wish to play, having performed in a field to just two people, one dressed as a gingerbread man and one as a penguin, both proceeding to fight each other, as the The Begbies performed like some kind of backing band to a Trigger Happy TV sketch.
Mixing ska influences such as The Specials and Madness with indie-centric bands like The Libertines and The Good Shoes, The Begbies have created their very own niche which has seen them gain support from the likes of Amazing Radio, Radio X, BBC Scotland and The Scottish Sun. They have also supported a number of bands in their native Glasgow ranging from a sold out show at The Barrowlands with Frightened Rabbit as well as securing tour dates with The View, Ordinary Boys, Bad Manners and The Buzzcocks.
It’s Just The Way by The Begbies is out now via Choose Rude Records and available on iTunes.
Maria Kelly’s new single ‘Black & Blue’ out now!

"...silky smooth vocals that spin widely relatable tales."
- Consequence of Sound
"Maria Kelly has really begun to become a more multifaceted artist whose music and visual work go hand in hand."
- The Last Mixed Tape
Irish singer-songwriter Maria Kelly has released her wonderful new single Black & Blue, out now via Veta Records and available to buy via iTunes.
The video for the single premiered on Nialler9 and you can also watch it via Maria's YouTube channel now.
The audio for Black & Blue premiered on Consequence of Sound and is also available to stream via Maria's Soundcloud page now.
Maria left quite an impression last year with debut single Before It Has Begun - a mournful finger-picked song that shows off Kelly’s pin-drop vocals and beautiful lyricism. Her latest single Black & Blue still feels vulnerable, with a hint of foolish optimism, managing to effectively captivate her talent for bittersweet storytelling - fans of Regina Spektor and She & Him will feel at home here.
"Black and Blue is about foolish optimism; waiting around for something that’s never going to come,” Maria Kelly explains. “I wrote it as a kind of ‘see ya later!’ to a certain time in my teenage years. I spent so long waiting for something that was clearly not on the way and this song attempts to look at that situation, accept it, laugh at it and move on.”
Growing up in Mayo, Ireland, Maria spent many years crafting and developing her sound into a stunning combination of delicate indie-folk. She has been writing music since the age of 10 and has already played numerous shows in both the UK and Ireland supporting the likes of Orla Gartland and Wyvern Lingo. Maria has also received praise from various online publications including The Irish Times, Nialler9 and Beat Surrender to name a few. Maria is working in the studio on new tracks for her next EP and developing her live sound in preparation for a busy 2016.
Black & Blue is out now via Veta Records and available to buy via iTunes.

"He has all the elements present to impress a multitude of fans..."
-The Revue
Multi-instrumentalist Jack Ellis is delighted to have released his latest single The Storm, out now via District South Records and available to download for free from the Jack Ellis Soundcloud page.
Held together beautifully by Jack’s wonderful guitar playing and emotive vocals The Storm is a song that tackles themes of love and loss, as snapshots in our life strip us bare, leaving us afraid of allowing ourselves to love again. The track was initially released earlier in 2016 but has now been repackaged as a three and a half minute radio edit and has seen Jack gain significant support from the likes of Dermot O’Leary on BBC Radio 2, including Jack being invited into the studio to perform live.
The moving video for The Storm is now available to watch via Jack's YouTube channel.
The radio edit of the single is also available to stream and download for free via Jack's Soundcloud page.
Ahead of the release, Jack has made his previous single Pocket of Lint available to stream and download for free via his Soundcloud page with the video for the track also available to watch on Jack's YouTube channel.
While growing up Jack was influenced by the likes of Jeff Buckley and REM and has taken on board their unerring ability to write and producing relatable yet emotional music, something which impressively shines through in the passion he puts into his music.
After playing in bands for several years, Jack took the decision to go solo in 2014 in order to focus on his songwriting and develop his own distinctive sound. The opportunity to play bass, guitar, piano and sing has allowed Jack to really stretch his creative muscles and, with the success of previous singles Pocket of Lint and Stepping Stones, it is clear that Jack’s music is making an impact on the wider music world.
Jack was voted Best Breakthrough Act 2015 and was nominated for Best Live Act at The Cardiff Music Awards, received radio plays from BBC Wales and BBC Radio 2 as well as online support from The Revue, Insomnia Radio, With Guitars and The Vinyl District. This has culminated in Jack becoming one of the rising stars of Welsh music, an artist who looks set to continue his growth through the release of his latest single.

Twinnie releases new single ‘Home’!

"...a fresh and exciting new sound..." - Closer
"...anthemic..." - Ultimate Music
Twinnie's latest single Home recently peaked at number 3 in the iTunes country charts. The single is out now via TLM Records and available to buy on iTunes and all good online retailers.
The video for Home premiered on Closer Online and has already had a huge amount of support on social media from Twinnie's celebrity friends and family. It is available to watch now on Twinnie's YouTube channel.
You can also stream the single, which premiered on Ultimate Music, now via Twinnie's Soundcloud page.
Home is a heart wrenching and defiant track about losing love with a swelling chorus and soaring vocal hooks that beautifully narrate the journey of a break-up. The feeling on the single is reminiscent of artists such as The Lumineers and Mumford & Sons, whilst also transcending into a more traditional pop feel akin to the likes of Ella Henderson. Twinnie is bringing a new edge and is a fresh new face to the country pop music scene - a welcome change from the dated look and feel of the genre.
Twinnie is best known for her role as Porsche McQueen on popular UK soap Hollyoaks but her love affair with music is long standing. Not only has she secured a publishing deal with Universal, she has performed backing vocals for the likes of Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke (Blurred Lines and BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge), Brian May and Roger Taylor to name but a few. Although her roots are in England, Twinnie also travels often to LA and Nashville, working alongside critically acclaimed songwriters behind artists such as Pink, James Bay, The Shires and Jason Mraz.
Twinnie’s first single Cool reached number 2 in the iTunes county charts and she has already received support from the likes of Heat Magazine, Digital Spy and Songwriting Magazine. Twinnie is now focusing her talents solely on music, particularly her own solo material, to great effect.

Twin Heart release Progress : Decline EP

"...a relentless emo-rock sound." - Louder Than War
Twin Heart are pleased to announce the release of their EP Progress:Decline, out now via Rip It Up Records and available to buy on iTunes, Bandcamp and stream on Spotify.
Melding elements of slickly composed emo-pop with an altogether more abrasive quality to their musicianship, the Scottish alternative rock three-piece have laid down a marker, exhibiting their exhilarating sound perfectly on the five track record. Suffocating, the official single taken from the EP, captures Twin Heart’s energy and passion in four formidable minutes. Dawn Baxter’s voice is powerful yet offers a fragility, conveying the song’s message of being smothered by the weight of the world, an emotion we all can identify with. The video, set in an abandoned factory, premiered on Louder Than War and is now available to watch on Twin Heart's YouTube channel.
Stream the single now via the ABoF Soundcloud page.
Progress:Decline focuses closely on the band’s experiences of setbacks and successes in the time they have been performing together. Taking influence from artists such as Brand New, Alexisonfire and Saves The Day the threesome have combine intelligently to create subtle, emotional lyrical content with high octane alt-rock, producing a sound they can call their own - incorporating the raw power of a band like Marmozets with the expressive and mainstream sensibilities connected with Paramore at their very best.
The aforementioned Suffocating, alongside the two openers, free download track 'Ghosts' and 'Young Eyes', creates a relentless first half of the EP, the band finding the perfect balance between rapturous hooky song writing and screamo-inspired aggressiveness. Instrumental track ‘Progress’ breaks up the intensity brilliantly, allowing the band to showcase a deftness of touch while illustrating a command of their respective instruments, before the calmness is blown away with the epic closer ‘Speak To Me’, the music fading away until the vocals are affectively isolated.
Twin Heart rose from the ashes of Dawn (guitar/lead vocals) and Murray Baxter’s (drums/vocals) previous band Mechanical Smile and, along with Owen Burt (bass/vocals), have gone onto to make a name for themselves on the Scottish music scene having already received support from the likes of Radio X and Amazing Radio as well as sharing a stage with The Xcerts, Ghost Town and Fort Hope. They will be hitting the road for a UK tour in support of the EP with gigs at the following dates:
5th July - The Banshee Labyrinth - Edinburgh
5th July - The Good Ship - London
7th July - West St Ale House - Sheffield
8th July - The Pack Horse - Leeds
9th July - The Alma Inn- Bolton
16th July - Pandora Festival, Duncarron
26th August - King Tut's, Glasgow
Progress:Decline is out now via Rip It Up Records and available to buy on iTunes, Bandcamp and stream on Spotify.
