- Artrocker Magazine

Fantôme have released their debut album, It All Makes Sense, via Snowhite. It’s a beautiful and deeply personal new wave epic that illustrates the story of a woman in touch with her emotions and scars. Hanin Elias (ex Atari Teenage Riot and founder of Fatal Recordings) and Marcel Zürcher (Die Krupps) have come together to create something truly remarkable with this project.

Fantôme released the free album track 'Scream'. It went up exclusively on The Quietus but is now available to download via the ABoF Soundcloud page.

The video for Fantôme's single, Love is available to watch now on YouTube.

Recorded with analogue instruments (guitar, bass, drums and piano) by multi-instrumentalist Marcel Zürcher, Hanin Elias' vocals showcase melancholic dreamy melodies and authentic lyrics. The album has a cozy sound that creates intimacy. Influences such as Leonard Cohen and flavours of My Bloody Valentine linger throughout the release creating a sound that is strong, dreamy and forceful.

The album also features a free bonus track, a Lorenzo Montana remix of speaker shaking album track, "The Key", featuring scream queen Asia Argento on vocals. It transforms the track, creating a dirty and sensual descent into industrial techno that's sure to whet the appetites of long-time Atari Teenage Riot fans.

Just listen to It All Makes Sense and it will all make sense.

It All Makes Sense is available to buy now via Snowhite.

All The Luck In The World release self-titled debut album!

For fans of... Bon Iver, Bright Eyes, Grizzly Bear, Villagers

Brighton based Irish three-piece, All The Luck In The World, are pleased to announce the release of their self-titled debut album, available now via Barfilm Records.

Their album track, ‘Never’, achieved international recognition after being picked up by the travel firm TriVaGo, and the band have been able to continue their sharp upward rise by skilfully executing the composition of a mature debut album in 2014.

You can stream the track on the band's official Soundcloud page.

The video for "Never", which has amassed over 1 million views, is available to watch on YouTube.

On All The Luck In The World, the band have created a record that is wise beyond its years - boasting a sound that is accomplished and confident, while maintaining a real sense of identity. There can be no doubt that this release sounds exactly as the band intended, with a strong backbone of indie-folk used expertly to explore familiar themes of love, loss and loneliness. ATLITW’s music uses Neil Foot's heartwarming vocals and lyrics to paint bittersweet pictures over gorgeous acoustic strings, with the added emotional weight of a full brass section and strings. Instrumental departure "Low Beams" allows the band to explore their experimental side, with some mesmerising acoustic production techniques creating a sumptuous soundscape that resonates through the speakers beautifully.

The album has already whet the appetite of the UK press, with a rave review from Artrocker Magazine, and coverage pouring in from The Vinyl District, Thank Folk For That… and Circuit Sweet.

All The Luck In The World will be touring Germany this March. Check out their live trailer on the Barfilm Records official site.

Most bands spend a lifetime trying to hone and craft their sound. All The Luck In The World appear to have managed this at their first attempt and at the tender age of just 19 years old.

All The Luck In The World was released 3rd February 2014 via Barfilm Records.

IndianRedLopez announce second album ‘Commit’!

For fans of: Mew, Radiohead, Massive Attack, LCD Soundsystem.

“... a force to be reckoned with.” -
Q Magazine

IndianRedLopez make a welcome return with their second full-length record, Commit, due for release on 17th March 2014 via Cease:Stop Records. This latest offering follows up their excellent debut album, Empty Your Lungs And Breathe, which made waves online gaining coverage on the likes of Rock Sound, Drowned in Sound, The Skinny, The 405 and Artrocker and saw the band named Best Electronic Act at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards.

You can listen stream and download album track "No Longer Dying" on the band's Official SoundCloud Page.

Check out the video to "No Longer Dying" on YouTube.

Commit immediately evokes feelings of a band who have grown leaps and bounds since their debut album. This record offers an endless depth - a depth which showcases the work of a band who are firmly coming into their element. The opening track ‘Any Given City’ kicks proceedings off, emoting heartfelt lyrics, beautiful harmonies and synth soundscapes that dreamily envelope the listener. The album undulates through various genres as Giorgio Moroder and Talk Talk style 80’s synth-pop meets shoegaze stalwarts such as Mew and Spiritualized. The bands ability to play with, and blend genres so seamlessly, is no more apparent on tracks like ‘No Longer Dying’ - lead singer Mike’s echoing vocals are flanked by samples, unabated keys and synths and a driven, piercing drumbeat.

Commit was self-recorded in the bands own bunker studio in Aberdeen and at a cottage in the idyllic surroundings of Loch Fyne in Scotland. To promote the release, IndianRedLopez aim to stage a variety of pop-up style events, collaborative art events and listening parties, as well as embarking on a tour of the UK and Europe with dates in Holland and Belgium lined up.

The Aberdeen based band, consisting of Mike Chang (lead vocals, guitar, keys, samplers), Dave Cherry (backing vocals, guitar, synth/keys), Darren Forsyth (backing vocals, bass, synth/keys), Danny Forsyth (backing vocals, guitars, bass, samples, synth) and Scott Maskame (drums, samples, percussion), are part of the Aberdeen arts group 26 Collective, who share creative space, ideas and energy in the Aberdeen cultural community. Their DIY ethic is upheld in every facet of their creative output - from running their own club night (SHMEET) and their own label Cease:Stop Records, to tour booking, recording and artwork. This has led to singer Mike designing the artwork for Stanley Odd’s album Reject, banner art for the music blog Glasgow PodcArt as well as working with local label Fat Hippy Records.

To celebrate the release of their second album Indian Red Lopez will be embarking on a European tour. It kicks off in March, and you can check out the dates and venues below.

Penguins Kill Polar Bears unveil Debut Album!

For fans of: Aereogramme, Explosions In The Sky, ISIS

“…should get the pulse racing…”
- The Line Of Best Fit

Penguins Kill Polar Bears return with their debut album Building Homes From Broken Bones, out 7th April 2014. The album is the follow-up to their 2011 EP Sapling, which raised rock hairs and post-rock eyebrows from the likes of The Line of Best Fit to Rock Sound, This Is Fake DIY to Clash Magazine and everyone in between.

You can listen to and download "Scarce", a track taken off the album, on SoundCloud

The album is an atmospheric genre bending masterclass that fans of Mogwai, Aereogramme and Explosions In The Sky would happily have in their personal collection. Each song flows effortlessly into the next with the boys taking their songwriting to a new level, smoothing out the rougher edges of their previous EPs and transforming their sound into something more intelligent, thoughtful and esoteric.

Although they take the music seriously, their influences stretch far, from the aforementioned post-rock greats to Smashing Pumpkins and Limmy’s Show.

PKPB have already played sold out shows with The Twilight Sad, And So I Watch You From Afar, The Xcerts and British Sea Power, even ‘the curse of the merch stand’ hasn’t put them off playing a blinding live set; every time they’ve set out on tour their merch stand has either been robbed or set on fire!

Now the line-up is complete with Gregor Graham taking on bass and vocal duties, the Linlithgow lads - Ben Proudlock, Fraser Sanaghan and Kieran McGuckian - are ready to represent as one of Scotland’s finest young exports.

Building Homes From Broken Bones is released 7th April via So Say We All.

Introducing… Chis Pureka!

For fans of... KD Lang, Neil Young, Ryan Adams

“For a woman who frequently performs solo and whose compositions are more quiet than clanging, Chris Pureka is making a lot of noise.”
- Billboard Magazine

Rarely does an artist like Chris Pureka come along. In an age of fleeting success and temporary notions, she is an artist of substance. Armed with a sharp eye for oft-missed details and an emotional intelligence that can switch from withering to compelling on a dime, she has been making albums on her own terms for over a decade. Now, with third studio album How I Learned To See In the Dark due for release 21st February 2014, and single Wrecking Ball available now via Haldern Pop, Pureka adds some bold new elements to the solid foundation she has been building throughout her ever-escalating twelve-year career.

You can listen to her single Wrecking Ball on our SoundCloud page.

Check out the video for the single on YouTube

Throughout her career, Pureka has prized autonomy over ease. She has released her all of her albums independently and plays upwards of 200 dates a year, enabling her to maintain a great deal of control over her process. That independent streak is also felt throughout How I Learned To See In The Dark. Pureka’s co-producer and longtime friend, Merrill Garbus (4Ad’s tUnE-YaRds) lent her signature quirky recording techniques and knack for alternative instrumentation to the album, helping Pureka expand her sound into as-yet uncharted territory. While maintaining her unique alchemy of longing, loss and hope, there is a sonic adventurism on How I Learned To See In The Dark that marks a new stage in Pureka’s musical evolution. With a newfound edginess, coupled with a more abstract sound, there is a musical depth and complexity that shines through each track, all the while maintaining the space and creative instrumentation Pureka is known for.

Pureka continues to perform her unadorned, country-inflected folk music in cozy clubs and grand theaters across the globe, oftentimes sharing the stage with the likes of The Lumineers, The Cowboy Junkies, Dar Williams, Martin Sexton and Ani DiFranco. Now, after settling into her newly adopted city of Portland, OR, and with the European release of How I Learned to See in the Dark in partnership with Haldern Pop, Pureka embarks on a new beginning which will see her expand her reach even further into the European market, bringing her heartfelt songs to her biggest audience to date. Pureka may have been making waves for over a decade, but 2014 marks the beginning of a new chapter in what is already a storied career.

How I Learned To See In The Dark is released 3rd March via Haldern Pop.

Wrecking Ball, the first single off the album, is available to download now.
