Introducing… Greta Isaac!
"… acoustic instrumentation, textured samples and soaring vocals...”
- The Line Of Best Fit
Hailing from South Wales, London based artist Greta Isaac has released her new single Comfortable, which is available to stream on Spotify and buy on iTunes now.
Comfortable premiered on The Line Of Best Fit and you can also listen to it now via Greta Isaac's Soundcloud page.
The project as a whole is an exploration into habits and destructive human tendencies; each song explores and exaggerates a different unhealthy trait from the perspective of a neurotic character. Comfortable explores apathy and selfishness.
The track features superbly crafted, glitchy electro-pop akin to artists like Grimes and it’s a change in direction for Isaac who’s always had an affinity to her folk roots. However, with this latest project, Isaac amalgamates folk-inspired instrumentation with unsettling beats and innovative electronic experimentation, creating a fresh new sound and this is prevalent in Comfortable.
With demand building, Greta is set to debut this project live at a secret London show on 5th September followed by a return to Wales to play at Festival No.6. She’s already gained the attention from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, Clash, The Line of Best Fit and The 405 and she’s set to seduce listeners further with this intriguing blend of electro folk.
Comfortable is out now and is available to stream on Spotify and buy on iTunes.
Introducing… Tom Hale!
"... oozing a romanticism akin to the likes of Richard Hawley, as Hale’s deep, impassioned vocals gracefully glide throughout”
- Gigslutz
Hailing from Barnsley, Tom Hale has spent the last six months writing and recording his debut EP In The Night, which is set for release on 7th July 2017.
Lead single and title track In The Night premiered on Gigslutz and is also available to stream on Tom's
Soundcloud page now.
Title and lead track In The Night is filled with sweeping, cinematic melodies that flow alongside Hale’s deep drawl and a soaring romanticism. Reminiscent of fellow South Yorkshire crooners Alex Turner and Richard Hawley, the track tells the story of a man falling in love in his dreams; it’s an epic, musically rich ballad filled with uplifting strings and an emotion-strewn power.
After fronting bands in the past, including indie-rockers ROOD, Hale has now decided to go solo, to discover his own unrestricted style. Inspired greatly by the work of composer Henry Mancini, he has written and produced the EP himself, and hopes to allure listeners with this imaginative and compelling collection of songs.
In The Night, the debut EP from Tom Hale, is out 7th July 2017.
Introducing… Stephen McLaren!
"…a vibrant composition that brings
the old spirit alive...”
- Tenement TV
"... a compelling pro-indie anthem..."
- The List
Having already received critical acclaim as part of Edinburgh-based dream pop band Collar Up, musician Stephen McLaren has now gone solo, and is set to release his new album We Used To Go Raving on 29th September 2017 via Errant Media.
Released ahead of the album is new single No More (Say Yes). The video premiered on The List and is available to watch via Stephen's YouTube channel now.
The single is also available to stream on Soundcloud and Spotify now.
Aiming to evoke feelings of nostalgia, loss and longing, We Used To Go Raving was created as a musical commentary on the post-millennium human condition. With subject matter ranging from the personal to political, the distant past to the harsh reality of the present, the album is an inspired and thought-provoking collection of electro-rock tracks. From the anthemic piano melodies and New Order-esque twinkling grandeur of title track ‘We Used To Go Raving’, to the glitchy beats and soaring cinematic power of ‘Patience’ and the shimmering emotion-strewn hooks of ‘I Sing To You’, each song whirrs with a nostalgic grace, harking back to the ‘80s new wave generation.
With his solo work already having caught the attention of Tenement TV, The List and Amazing Radio’s Jim Gellatly, Stephen McLaren now hopes to capture listeners’ attention with the dark, dreamy power of We Used To Go Raving.
We Used To Go Raving is out 29th September 2017 via Errant Media. No More (Say Yes) is out now and available to stream on Spotify and buy on iTunes now.
The Van T’s share new single ‘Fresh Meat’!
“...music that deserves to be played
at ear-threatening decibels to as
many people as possible.” - Noisey
"... untameable Gordian knots of noise and forays into psychedelic fuzz..." - The Line Of Best Fit
"...a surf rock band, but only if your idea of surfing involves getting pummeled by a giant wave..."
- Consequence of Sound“...sounding big, drenched in feedback...”
- Huw Stephens BBC Introducing
Glasgow based four-piece The Van T’s have imposed their reverb-laden brand of alt.rock upon the musical landscape over the past twelve months or so. Their relentless sound has resonated on both sides of the Atlantic; picking up impressive support both at home in the UK and Europe as well as some of the most notable North American tastemakers. The Van T’s continue their impressive run of releases with their new single Fresh Meat, which is out now via LAB Records and available to buy on iTunes and stream via Spotify.
The single premiered on The Line Of Best Fit and is available to listen to via LAB Records' Soundcloud page.
Caustic, jagged yet endearingly melodic, The Van T’s are one of the most exciting young bands to emerge from the Scottish music scene in quite some time. Fresh Meat further enhances The Van T’s burgeoning reputation. Waves of gutsy, riff-driven guitar soundscapes wash over you and are accented beautifully by a rhythm section creating foot-tapping, hip-shaking grooves, neatly fused together by the effected harmonised vocals bleeding out from the speakers.
Comprised of twin sisters Hannah and Chloe Van Thompson (guitar, vocals), Joanne Forbes (bass) and Shaun Hood (drums), 2016 was a breakout year for the band. Premieres on the likes of Huw Stephens' BBC Radio Introducing show, Noisey, Consequence of Sound, Clash Magazine and Dork were followed by support slots with Yuck and Rat Boy as well as appearances at T in The Park, where they headlined the BBC Introducing Stage, Electric Fields, Wide Days and Stag and Dagger. 2017 has seen the band continue to make their mark having supported The Jesus And Mary Chain in Amsterdam at the renowned venue Paradiso, as well as Clean Cut Kid at London’s Scala and performing a two day stint at the Great Escape Festival.
Fresh Meat by The Van T’s is out now via LAB Records and available to buy on iTunes and stream via Spotify.
Introducing… The Anatomy of Frank!
"Some of the most inspiring melody
arrangements & progressions."
- Impose Magazine
The Virginia based folk-rock trio The Anatomy of Frank explore nostalgia, relationships and mortality with the release of their latest album South America, out on 1st September 2017 via Polar Islands. You can pre-order the album now via Bandcamp.
The first single to be taken from the album, La Llorona, premiered on The Vinyl District and is also available to stream on the band's Soundcloud page and Spotify now.
Having formed in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2010 as a five-piece, in 2015 the band found themselves in a state of disarray with the departure of two members. As a result, Kyle (guitar, vocals), Jimmy Bullis (keyboards) and Max Bollinger (drums) decided to re-orchestrate their sound and breathe new life into the band’s identity.
The band had a valiant ambition to record an album on all seven continents and South America is the result. With a combination of brass, keys, strings, solid harmonies and rich melodies throughout, this album is an instantly immersive experience. The first single, La Llorona, focusses on the complexities of relationships when desire becomes self-destructive. Lead singer Kyle Woolard’s soft, warm vocals and his intricate guitar plucking weave together effortlessly before a soaring choral line is introduced, shifting the song into an ethereal soundscape. Each offering on South America shows a different side to the trio, whether it’s the instantly catchy indie-rock style of ’Sunken Coast’ or the intimate musings of ‘Viteri’, this album captivates immediately with each starting note.
The band were set to begin recording in Ecuador, however the loss of a loved one inevitably affected their work. With support from family and friends, the trio found their strength and used their pain to produce their most poignant album to date. Now, The Anatomy of Frank are ready to spread their wings, performing at a number of festivals over the summer including Wilderness Festival and Camp Bestival to name a few.
Catch The Anatomy of Frank live at the following dates:
31st July - Castle Hotel - Manchester
3rd August - Wilderness Festival - Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire
South America is out on 1st September 2017 via Polar islands and La Llorona is available to download via Bandcamp and stream on Spotify now.
