The single is an ode to the tragic life of the late, great Soprano Maria Callas, opera’s first international superstar. Pearce has already received praise from numerous well-regarded publications including The Independent, MOJO, Uncut and Q to name but a few. He has also gained support from BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq and Stuart Maconie, BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris, Dermot O’Leary and Janice Long as well as Absolute Radio’s Frank Skinner. Pearce is performing a UK tour around the release of So On, culminating in a gig at the inimitable Green Note in London, the heart of the city’s folk, blues, and roots scene.

Lasse Matthiessen releases new EP ‘When We Collided’!

For fans of... José González, Fleet Foxes, Sigur Ros

"...a classic that you’ll return to time

and time again. Brilliant and

beautiful."

- Folk Radio

Danish songwriter and musician Lasse Matthiessen's new EP When We Collided is out now on Zpektakel Records / The Orchard. It is available to stream via Spotify and iTunes now.

To celebrate the release, the video for the title track and lead single, When We Collided, premiered on Folk Radio UK and is available to watch via Lasse's YouTube channel now.

You can also listen to the single via Matthiessen's Soundcloud page now.

A collection of elevated and bittersweet symphonies, the EP profoundly explores different themes through Matthiessen’s touching and sincere songwriting style. Filled with rich lyrical storytelling, each track oozes a deep sense of honest emotion and raw passion.

Inspired by the nocturnal pulse of Paris in the summer, title track and lead single When We Collided offers delicate folk-infused melodies alongside Matthiessen’s rich, deep vocals and the spellbinding harmonies of Sara Hartman. Oozing a cinematic, emotion-strewn splendour, it’s the perfect introduction to this reflective collection.

From the delicate, twinkling melodies of ‘Broken Choir’ and ‘Sycamore Trees’ to the sweeping majestic grandeur and dark, haunting power of ‘Sorte Søer’ and ‘Alchemist Fire’, each track offers its own unique, captivating beauty.

Born in Copenhagen, and now living part-time in Berlin, Matthiessen writes music to share stories. Having recorded the EP in an old bunker in the Kreuzberg area, he didn’t want to be limited by the technical restrictions of a ‘cool’ studio, and felt that this venue suited his expressive and raw sound perfectly.

Now, having supported artists such as Suzanne Vega and Anna Calvi, Matthiessen hopes to work his way into listener’s hearts with this latest impassioned collection of tracks.

When We Collided is out now on Zpektakel Records / The Orchard, and available to stream via Spotify and iTunes now.

Introducing… Reema!

For fans of... Lisa Hannigan, Jackie Oates, Eliza Rickman, Beth Orton

"...low mellifluous vocals which blend beautifully with cyclical guitar patterns and dreamy jazz lines..."
- Folk Radio UK

Singer-songwriter Reema prepares to captivate listeners with her latest release, What The Whisper Said, out on 8th December 2017. The single is taken from The LowSwing Sessions, a beautiful collaboration between Reema and producer, composer and arranger Guy Sternberg as part of his analogue label initiative, LowSwing Records.

What The Whisper Said premiered on Folk Radio and is available to stream now via Reema's Soundcloud page.

What The Whisper Said is a ghost story about an old man who kept a dark secret that has died with his former lover. The single begins with an enchanting yet dark, mesmerising arrangement, combined with Reema’s rich, smooth vocal, sounding akin to the likes of Lisa Hannigan. Reema combines the traditional story telling charm of folk with Guy’s jazz influences to create something truly haunting and majestic.

Recorded live and completely computer free over three magical sessions, Reema's UK neo-folk approach met Guy's avant-garde, jazz and classical influenced arrangements. The result is incredibly moving, with Reema's ethereal, emotional vocals lighting the way. These special moments were captured using tape and have stayed analogue all the way to the vinyl itself.

With What The Whisper Said, Reema hopes to continue to charm further listeners with her unique blend of minimal, honest, celestial music.

What The Whisper Said, taken from The LowSwing Sessions, is out on 8th December 2017 via LowSwing Records. You can order a limited edition, hand-drawn vinyl copy of The LowSwing Sessions here.
