Introducing… Misterlee

We're really happy to announce that we'll be working with Misterlee a.k.a Lee Allatson on the forthcoming release of his new album this disquiet dog, which is out on Rubber Czech Records, March 1st 2010. this disquiet dog is an album of extremes, from spoken word and the avant-garde to straight-up catchy, left-from-centre rock.

You can currently stream the song "Littleman" from Misterlee's artist page on the ABoF website or visit Misterlee's Myspace for more music and information.

"Misterlee is that rarest of things, a true maverick with a vision that is worth sharing." - Americana UK

Misterlee is no stranger to the music scene. Having already released a plethora of acclaimed records, he's also shared a stage with many musical greats - Jeffrey Lewis, Sebadoh, Duke Special and Mountain Goats to name but a few. He's also played events like Summer Sundae Weekender, the Secret Garden Party Festival and guested on the Resonance FM sessions and enjoyed plays on BBC6 Music.

Misterlee's influences are as unconventional as his sound. Lee Allatson was raised in a home filled with the songs of greats such as Scott Walker and The Beatles but conversely also the twisted renditions of acts like Captain Beefheart. This quiet lanky lad was given to telling tall stories about travelling the world (over a weekend), far away from his Leicester birthplace. The drums stuck a bit, as did the Ukelele his guitar playing dad bought him one birthday, but it was the drum kit and wider percussives that would expose him to ska, orchestral, rock and jazz music.

These eclectic influences are apparent on his forthcoming album this disquiet dog. The album pushes boundaries - it's hard to pin a genre to Misterlee. There are elements of punk, prog, rock and spoken word. Listening to the album is like going on a weird and wonderful musical tour of Allaston’s creative mind – once you return you'll never be the same again.

Tango In The Attic “Seven Second Stare” Review in Drowned In Sound!

Tango In The Attic have really been getting around recently, like a promiscuous girl at a village fete! Now their single Seven Second Stare has been reviewed in Drowned In Sound.

"Tango In The Attic are quite good at their second choice profession, making slightly angular, almost chatty indie" - Drowned In Sound

You can read the full review HERE

Tango in the Attic's single Seven Second Stare, is out on now via Keep Calm Records. You can buy the single via Amazon for a mere 69p HERE. You can also buy the single from Itunes HERE.

The single has already been played by such luminaries as Steve Lamacq (BBC Radio 2) and John Kennedy (XfM). They also recorded a session for Vic Galloway (BBC Radio Scotland) whilst receiving favourable reviews from the likes of Drowned In Sound and Artrocker Magazine.

"They're young, they're fresh, they get sweaty onstage and they make an ace noise! Tango in the Attic combine Vampire Weekend's sing-a-longs with Strokes-style riffing topped-off with a real emotional edge" - Vic Galloway, BBC Radio Scotland

Seven Second Stare is the perfect example of how Tango in the Attic blend their pop and avant-garde influences easily crafting a highly listenable, quirky and original single. B-side "Mirrorface" continues this theme, showcasing the band's fun tempo riding along off-kilter beats and sing-along vocals.
