Law Holt shares new track ‘Love Drive Through’!

“…a feedback-drenched, bass heavy cut…”
- The Skinny

Law Holt has unveiled new track Love Drive Through, taken from her debut album City, due for release on 26th August 2016 via Soulpunk.

The track premiered on The Skinny and you can also stream it now via Law Holt's Soundcloud page.

Law recorded her latest album City with producer Timothy London; of their working relationship she says "When I started working with Tim we hit it off... the way he worked fitted with what I wanted to do."

You can also watch the video for 'Spit', featured on Law's full-length City via her YouTube Channel.

Alternatively you can stream the track via Law's Soundcloud Page along with her recent release Summer's Coming.

After the sessions for the album had finished, in the basement studio where City was recorded, producer Tim London found a folded A4 sheet of paper amongst some lyric notes.  Written in three types of coloured biro were these
exact words:

“You don’t know a damn thing. It’s a witchy awareness, and if you could take a little swig from the bottle you might get the telepathy. But right now, you don’t deserve it, cos you think pop is fucking in a photo-booth in a shopping mall, you think it’s the reflection of the tip of your penis vibrating in the dark screen of your laptop. American. Packaging. Wanker.”

“It’s a mock wedding. I’m fucking fed up with it. Don’t judge me. Just because you lost your soul. My tears are real, wet salt. My feelings are raw.”

“OK, in the end I’ll probably forgive you, even if you refuse to dance. I’ll forgive you long enough to make another album from the whole story, which is all it is, from the fantasy, which is all you are.”

“In the end, I’ll use you like you used me, ‘boy’. Then you’ll be discarded like a limp condom on a Spanish beach. Then I will have won and you’ll just be an itch, a gnat bite on my memory. Then people will listen to these songs and they will know how a little, insignificant prick can inspire joy in a woman as he fades away. You. Are. Not. Even. A. Dot.”

When Tim asked her who it was addressed to, Lauren refused to answer and just said, “it’s private”.

Having been described as “the Death Grips of pop”, her sound is hard to define but has received critical acclaim from The Skinny, Guardian, Clash, The Line of Best Fit, DIY and many more. Law transcends genres, time and sound. Loneliness, darkness and romance are themes she regularly explores. She describes her music as “Law themed” and she’s spot on - you can look, but there’s no one quite like Law.

Law Holt’s album City is out on 26th August 2016 via Soulpunk.

Introducing… SHVLLOWS!

"...a prospect who're impossible to ignore." - The Line Of Best Fit

For fans of... All TVVINS, the 1975, Passion Pit

Indie electro quartet SHVLLOWS create uplifting, atmospheric pop on their latest single Zurich. The single, released on 16th September 2016 via Choose Rude Records, combines soaring melodies and a synth-infused indie sound that has become the Edinburgh four piece's signature sound.

The single recently premiered on The Line of Best Fit and is available to stream now via the band's Soundcloud Page.

Zurich explores anxiety and self doubt, and the extreme lengths that people will go to overcome them, however the overall message is that no one is ever truly alone. The track itself is vibrant and uplifting in contrast to the lyrics. SHVLLOWS write music that focuses on dissimilarities and allow the listener to create their own concepts.

The band have enjoyed a rapid rise from obscurity following the release and subsequent wide spread success of their debut single, Shake in April 2016. Amongst the band's supporters are BBC Radio Scotland’s Janice Forsyth and Amazing Radio’s Jim Gellatly, who featured Shake as his No.1 track of May 2016 in The Scottish Sun. During 2016 SHVLLOWS rising success has been translated live with the band playing a sold out show at The Mash House in Edinburgh, followed by a headline slot at legendary venue King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow.

SHVLLOWS single Zurich is out on 16 September 2016 via Choose Rude Records.

Yvonne McDonnell’s EP ‘Endless Soul’ out now!

For fans of... Laura Marling, First Aid Kit, Kate Rusby, Lisa Hannigan

"...a powerful mix which draws the listener in."
- For Folk's Sake

"...a newcomer to contemporary folk music but whom we feel will be making her mark..." - Folk Radio

Yvonne McDonnell's re-released debut EP Endless Soul is out now via Reality Is Over and available to buy on Bandcamp.

You can download title track and single Endless Soul for free via Yvonne's Soundcloud page now.

You can also watch the video for the track now via Yvonne's YouTube channel.

The entire EP has one core narrative; each song exploring the various sets of emotions associated with being hurt by someone with deep set insecurities and how we learn to understand and accept others point of view. Opening track I Didn’t Know begins with the initial empathy of what the perpetrator is going through, with Yvonne’s striking vocals taking centre stage, exquisitely supported by her talented backing band. Title track, the aforementioned Endless Soul, tackles themes of anger as the emotion kicks in with a sense of melancholy, while still harbouring a glisten of hope - a feeling that resonates throughout the track. As the EP continues the listener is taken on a journey, with each song skilfully written and performed with the same story-telling charm that has worked so well for to the likes of Laura Marling, Lisa Hannigan and Kate Rusby. McDonnell’s hypnotic vocal remains the focal point throughout the EP, with her unique vibrato swelling effortlessly.

Originally from East London, Yvonne started performing acoustically in 2012 at university in Portsmouth. Yvonne has already received praise from the likes of Folk Radio, For Folk’s Sake, Gigslutz and FATEA amongst others. She has also performed live sessions for Sofar Sounds in London and Cambridge. Yvonne is ready to take another step up the folk ladder as she introduces the listener to a fresh, darker exploration of British modern folk.

The re-release of Yvonne McDonnell’s EP Endless Soul is out now via Reality Is Over and available to buy on Bandcamp.

Tetish release self-titled debut album!

For fans of... The Cardigans, Lucius, Rilo Kiley, Bat For Lashes

"Immediately beguiling ..." - Clash

"...shiny heartfelt pop music laced with big melodies..." - God Is In The TV

Tetish, the Tel-Aviv based indie-electro pop band, are delighted to announce the release of their debut self-titled album via Solarie Records and available to purchase now via the band's Bandcamp.

God Is In The TV premiered the stream of the album exclusively on their site and described the band's sound as "...ripe with the influence of pop, classical and middle eastern music.".

The album is characterised by the band's recent single release, Luck, which showcases their high octane indie sound as snapping drum beats are flanked by the wonderfully delivered vocals of Etan Solomon, rasping guitar and crisp electronic elements. The video for the single premiered on Clash Magazine's website who described the band's sound as "...material recalling the artful impact of Bat For Lashes, or The Cardigans...". The video for Luck is now available to watch on the Tetish YouTube channel.

Luck is also available to stream from the Tetish Soundcloud page.

Tetish is the brainchild of Etan Soloman and Itai Shitrit who have been active members of the local Tel-Aviv indie music scene for a number years now. Both have released material while working on different projects, but it wasn’t until after the long-time friends started to play around with a few ideas towards the end of 2014 that they discovered they were able to take each other’s music to the next level. This is highlighted perfectly on the album track 'Glow', a free download track the band released in May to celebrate the announcement of the forthcoming album release.

18 months on and the pair have achieved a dynamic sound perfectly encapsulated on their debut album, with a medley of influences from pop and rock all the way through to classical and middle eastern music, giving Tetish a deep, rich, complex and ultimately unique sound. Openers Luck and the aforementioned 'Glow' draw comparison with classic artists such as Laura Mvula as well as contemporary musicians like Jessie Ware, whereas Shipwreck explores the band’s pop/rock leanings and is a nod to influences ranging from The Cardigans to Bat For Lashes. Salomon explains “the album is about the longing for self-fulfilment, about the struggle between reality and our hopes, dreams and ideals, in life, in art and in relationships.”

Both Salomon (vocals/keyboards) and Shitrit (keyboards/vocals) are classically trained musicians which becomes apparent on the record as they showcase their skills through the quality of their musicianship and arrangements. Their sound is further enhanced by Nir Shlomo (guitars/vocals), Noam Shacham (bass/vocals) and Daniel Azta (drums/vocals) who joined from Shitrit’s previous band Kalbey Ruach and are noted for their session work with bands such as Eatlitz, Brain Candies and Lola Marsh respectively.

Tetish are intensely determined to expose the world to their sound as they attempt to reach and relate to as many people as they possibly can. It’s been a great start for the band as their demos were picked up by some of the biggest local radio stations as well as being picked up for CMW in Toronto, CMJ in New York as well as gaining support from the likes of Clash, The Vinyl District, The Revue and Little Indie Blogs.
Tetish have been in the UK to promote their album release with appearances in Brighton as well as at WOMAD Festival. You can catch the band's final two shows in London at the following venues:

2nd August - AlleyCat - London

3rd August - The Dublin Castle - London

Tetish's debut self-titled album Tetish is out now via Solarie Records and is available to purchase via the band's Bandcamp.
