With their debut single Float Like An Animal having steadily made waves in the West, HOMES are keen to introduce their addictive sound to the rest of the UK and beyond.

Introducing… John Alcabean!

For fans of... Drenge, Kagoule, Wolf Alice, Royal Blood

Danish post-punk trio John Alcabean create melodic melancholy in the noisiest fashion on their debut EP Real Time Fiction, out on 2nd September 2016 via Tapetown Records.

You can stream the previous single Need Comfort now via the band's Soundcloud page.

You can also watch the video via the band's YouTube channel.

Need Comfort and upcoming single Fire are both explosive, no nonsense post-punk excellence, surrounded by electrifying guitar riffs and undeniably catchy melodies akin to the likes of Drenge and Royal Blood. Real Time Fiction is the result of the duo trying to find their sound for the debut as Victor Ryle Shack (lead singer & guitar) stated that, from the beginning of the writing process, the band knew what they wanted to sound like and the aim was trying to accomplish this in the studio.

The title Real Time Fiction is about the reality of succeeding in something you once thought was fictional and how mind over matter can prevail. This came to be when Victor had a sudden realisation of the impact your thoughts have on your decisions and how they are almost working against your self development at times. Musically, their sound draws upon multiple influences from indie, pop, alt-rock to post-punk, creating a mix so contagious you will have them playing on repeat for days. Imagine a one-night stand between the music of the 90s and the 00s and John Alcabean is conceived.

Despite being relatively new to the live circuit, John Alcabean have already played Offspring Festival and Uhørt Festival as well as playing at a local carnival in front of three people - including two drunks and a handicapped man - who asked them to “sing him a lullaby”. John Alcabean are now ready to introduce the world to their incredible sound and take the rest of 2016 by storm.

John Alcabean’s EP Real Time Fiction is out on 2nd September 2016 via Tapetown Records.

Tanners Pool release ‘Out of Line’ EP!

For fans of... Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane’s Addiction, Frank Zappa, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

Tanners Pool's debut EP Out of Line is out now via Alt/Logic and is available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify now.

Alternatively, you can buy the EP via the band's website and stream tracks 'Plastic Wings' and 'Bad Advice' via their Soundcloud page as part of their EP teaser.

In keeping with the EP’s title, the record explores themes of going against the grain rather than following the mainstream trends we are force-fed and ultimately drawn to in life, instead promoting idea of individuality and following ones own path. Opening track Bad Advice kicks off with Jess Ashdale’s thrashing distorted guitar, which mirrors contemporary acts such as the Arctic Monkeys’ punchy, electrifying sound. While on I’m Long Gone the band click into a funk rock groove akin to the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, as Jess steals the show with an expertly delivered wah-wah pedal affected guitar solo. The band reverts back to their rock ’n’ roll roots in Nothing and Nobody and Plastic Wings; both tracks filled with fuzzy guitar riffs and pounding drums throughout. Each track on Out of Line offers something different as you work through the EP, as Tanners Pool impressively traverse the line between indie rock, funk and classic rock sounds of days gone by.

Tanners Pool formed in Oxford in late 2015 after joint songwriting duo Matt Ashdale (vocals, guitar) and Jess (lead guitar, backing vocals) had been playing and writing together for a number of years. Having begun practising with Seth Roberts (bass) for a few months, they enrolled old school friend Shoji Maeno (drums) who was keen to get involved after seeing the band perform their debut show. The rest, as they say, is history. Now with a debut EP on the horizon, a music video in the works and live dates to follow, Tanners Pool are excited to take the next steps on their journey as a band together.

Out of Line by Tanners Pool is out now via Alt/Logic and is available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.

GANGS release single ‘Thieves’!

For fans of... Slaves, Royal Blood, The Stooges, The Amazing Snakeheads

"...a relentless battering-ram of a tune..."- Clash

"Pounding, stomping, gritty rock 'n' roll..."- Tenement TV

Rock & roll four-piece, GANGS are delighted to announce the release of their official single Thieves, out now via Smooth Action Records and available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.

On Thieves GANGS announce themselves as 'ones to watch' with an exhilarating two and a half minute banger where the band exhibit all their best qualities; grimy caustic vocals prowl your ear drums, relentless raw guitar pieces soar, all harnessed beautifully by a tight rhythm section that propels GANGS, kicking and screaming, into a booming outro of frenzied distortion and affected screaming vocals. The video for Thieves premiered on Clash and is now available to watch on the band's YouTube channel.

You can stream Thieves, which was premiered exclusively on Tenement TV, via the GANGS Soundcloud page.

Born out of the dregs at the bottom of a double Jack and Coke, the band have had a sharp rise to prominence in their hometown having come together in the shadowy underbelly of Glasgow during its cold winter months.

Combining elements of American garage rock and psychedelic rock made famous by the likes of The Stooges, with the modern punk rock swagger of bands like Slaves and Royal Blood, GANGS have very much laid down their marker as a booming, anthemic rock band with plenty of attitude to burn.

GANGS were formed in 2016 when Steven Young (vocals, guitar), Stevie McLaren (guitar), Marc MacCallum (bass, vocals) and Stephen Forbes (drums) came together through their mutual love of all things rock & roll. Refreshingly, the band are forthright in their belief that they are content writing songs they believe in, rather than being populist, maintaining that they want to run their own race, all the while creating music they enjoy making. This desire to enjoy themselves is clearly infectious with many tastemakers within the music industry supporting the band with the likes of Amazing Radio, Tenement TV, Little Indie Blogs, Mad Mackerel, Fortitude Magazine and Clash Magazine all offering Thieves glowing praise.

You can join the band for a celebration of their release of Thieves this evening as they host a special launch show in Glasgow at Broadcast with tickets available to purchase on the website.

Thieves by GANGS is out now via Smooth Action Records and is available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.

yllwshrk release video for ‘Northern Soul’!

For fans of... Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Grizzly Bear

“...endlessly fascinating and engrossing.” - The Line of Best Fit

Experimental five-piece yllwshrk have released the video for their recent single Northern Soul, taken from their forthcoming self-titled EP and available to pre-order on Bandcamp.

Formed after classically trained Scottish composer Ian Anderson, along with bassist Dave Brown, performed violin and double bass respectively on Radiohead's album A Moon Shaped Pool, yllwshrk have shown an unerring ability to create exceptionally diverse music that has a wonderfully ethereal quality to it. Having premiered the stream for Northern Soul on The Line of Best Fit, yllwshrk have followed this up with the release of their gorgeous video. Exploring elements of prog, jazz, ambient and rock music, the band showcase the full range of their ability to experiment sonically and structurally. Watch the video now via the yllwshrk YouTube channel.

Stream Northern Soul via the ABoF Soundcloud page.

The band have already released the free EP track, a homagé to Jeff Buckley called 'Pull Me Under (In Memory of Jeff Buckley)', which is available to stream and download for free via the ABoF Soundcloud page.

Anderson (rhythm guitar) wanted to tap into his impressive musical knowledge by utilising complex ideas taken from classical compositions, relating to form and harmony, with the aim of implementing them within the context of an alt-rock song structure. Reaching out to Brown, whom he met while touring with Jonny Greenwood and the London Contemporary Orchestra, as well as a number of other musician friends, yllwshrk made their live debut at a London gig in January of this year with Sam West (vocals), Matt Isaac (lead guitar) and Feargus Brennan (drums) completing the line-up.

The band headed to Woodworm Studios in Banbury with the aim of recording their first tracks with producer Graeme Stewart (Radiohead, Ash, Zero 7), the session resulting in three exquisitely crafted songs contained on the EP. All three tracks bear the characteristics that Anderson originally set out to instil into the project with complex rhythms and harmonies scattered throughout, taking inspiration from his work with Radiohead, allied to the majestic, vast vocal stylings of West reminiscent of Jeff Buckley. West’s vocals come close to reaching the same range and emotional intensity as the renowned singer/songwriter with the band giving a clear nod to him on the ode ‘Pull Me Under (In Memory of Jeff Buckley)’.

The rest of the record consists of the aforementioned Northern Soul, displaying gorgeous intricate guitar work which is blended beautifully with technically impressive drumming, and 'Into Her Sleep With Envy', highlighting another incredible vocal performance by West and drawing comparisons with acts such as Grizzly Bear and Dirty Projectors.

To celebrate the release of their EP in August, the band will be playing two more London dates with a show at The Good Ship in Kilburn on 2nd August followed by a launch show on 4th August at 93 Feet East.

yllwshrk’s self-titled debut EP is out 5th August 2016 via Oramic Records and is available to pre-order on the yllwshrk Bandcamp page.
