Fable releases new track ‘I Am You’!

“...a dark, glistening synth pop gem...”
- Clash Magazine

“Brooding cinematic Electronica…” - Guardian

For fans of: Bat For Lashes, Ladytron, Portishead, Thom Yorke

Fable returns from the wilderness, having toured the country spreading her dark and sensual sound and seducing audiences with her alternative, twisted electronica.

Her new track I Am You has just premiered on The Line of Best Fit who described it as 'bold and brilliant'. You can stream it now via Fable's SoundCloud page.

I Am You captures the feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you realise that you are ‘the other’, an outsider looking in at the cultural machine that has been built around all of us. However, the cruel irony is that in spite of existing outside the bubble of mass manufactured media, your very existence is still an expression of it - a contradiction of alienation and connection.

Co-written and produced by Paul Steel (The Xcerts, Mika, Saint Raymond) and mixed by Lee Groves (Goldfrapp, Gwen Stefani, Kimbra), I Am You is the first single from Fable’s debut album, Sacrilege, slated for release in early 2016, following on from her critically acclaimed debut EP, Parasite.

Originally from Devon and now based in Brighton, 20 year old Fable is a fierce new talent - forthright, opinionated, intelligent and far removed from the generic shiny pop songstresses that dominate the current music scene. She’s written alongside artists such as Orbital’s Paul Hartnoll and Bloc Party’s Russell Lissack, and supported Archive at The Shepherd’s Bush Empire earlier in the year.

I Am You is released via 74 Music later this year.

Download ‘Crimes’ by Kapil Seshasayee now!

"...ominous..."- Punktastic

"...thick, heady goodness..." - State

For fans of: Fuck Buttons, Scott Walker, Big Black, Bitch Magnet

Kapil Seshasayee has released free download track 'Crimes' which you can download now via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

'Crimes' is taken from the EP of the same name, which was re-released last month. Picking up support from the likes of Punktastic, State, Soundblab and The Vinyl District, the record showcases Kapil's alt-rock sound perfectly. 'Crimes' will be the final download to be taken from the EP before Kapil releases a brand new single and video in October.

Download 'Crimes' from the embed below or via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

Occupying a space somewhere between the avant-garde and progressive alternative rock, Kapil is carving a name for himself in the air around him, emitting sound waves that dominate the low end and pierce the high. He is one man, surrounding himself in a cocoon of noise that’s both exhilarating to hear and fascinating to watch.

His recently released EPCrimes tackles a number of social issues, pondering the nature of religion and asking us if we are following a tradition for ethical reasons or because we’re so desperate for a place in paradise that we’re willing to get there by any means possible. It’s a weighty theme made even heavier by Kapil’s growling, distorted guitar backed up by intense drum loops and improvised percussion, which brings to mind the later work of Scott Walker as well as the distinctive sound of bands such as Big Black, Fuck Buttons and Bitch Magnet. It’s an intense experience that is not to be taken lightly, but will enlighten those who decide to venture into the sonic wilderness.

The EP Crimes is out now via An Automaton Records and available to buy digitally on Bandcamp.

Introducing… Asbjørn

For fans of: The Irrepressibles, Lulu Rouge, iamamiwhoami, Kate Boy

Growing up in the early ‘90s in a small village outside of Aarhus, Denmark, Asbjørn (aka Asbjørn Toftdahl), was unable to mirror himself in the masculine ideal. He looked to strong women like Madonna and Beyoncé for inspiration. Now based in Berlin, and with new album, Pseudo Visions released 6th November 2015 via Sinnbus, he is breaking with gender conventions, and expressing his identity on his own terms.

You can stream Asbjørn's previous single The Criminal to get a taste of his evocative sound via the Sinnbus SoundCloud page. The track is taken from his album Sunken Ships which is available on iTunes.

The album’s title Pseudo Visions refers to the moments in life that are so intense the line between reality and fantasy becomes blurred, creating a strange middle state of intense surrealism. It was recorded in three chapters, each chapter consisting of four songs that tell their own story shaped by the events of Asbjørn’s life.
The songwriting process also involved audiences across Europe, helping to highlight and develop the tunes as they took shape based on the crowd’s reaction.

This is a more nuanced form of pop music, a type of pop that allows Asbjørn to express himself fully, on his own terms with intricate backing tracks performed and produced by the multi-instrumentalist himself. His sound follows in the footsteps of Scandinavian artists such as Lulu Rouge, Kate Boy and iamamiwhoami, but with his own twist that will appeal to the indie-disco crowds of the UK. ’The Love You Have In You” has already become a fan favourite, and tracks such as ‘Brotherhood’, ‘RYB’ and ‘Call Me By My Name’ showcase a dark and deeply heartfelt minimalist electronica that allows Asbjørn’s emotive voice to shine through.

Pseudo Visions is released via Sinnbus on 6th November 2015.

Each track marks a point of artistic evolution for Cleaver as he sings about his struggle to reach honesty whilst dealing with a wealth of emotions that feel all too human. Musically, Adam’s influences range from Fleet Foxes to Iron & Wine, however, on the EP he hones these influences with a modern edge think Fleet Foxes meets Hozier but with Adam’s signature sweet, beguiling vocals.

Adam has already received support from BBC 6Music’s Lauren Laverne who featured Adam’s The Salt Mine as her ‘Headphones Moment’ as well as playing the track multiple times on her show. Introducing… Freja!

For fans of: Lauren Aquilina, Gabrielle Aplin, Birdy

Freja is a young singer-songwriter who creates delicately minimalist music with a beautiful story behind it. Her debut EP Ghosts is a celebration of Freja’s youth, covering themes of love, loss and life mixed with folklore and elements of gothic romance.

To give you a taste of Freja’s sound, You can stream opening track ‘Ghosts In The Snow’ via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

Freja’s vocals feel effortless, authentic and completely controlled throughout with a hint of her London accent coming through, particularly on songs such as ‘Foggy Days’ and ‘Without You’, not unlike artists such as Lauren Aquilina. With delicate vocals and beautiful piano led melodies entwined, the EP gives listeners an intimate insight into Freja’s inner workings and stunning ability as a songwriter.

Freja first started writing songs at the age of nine with dreams of starting a rock band and becoming the next big thing. As time passed, Freja decided she didn’t need a band behind her and ended up with a collection of sincere songs which she can now use at her disposal.

At only 20 years old, Ghosts is an ode to her coming of age. For the EP, Freja chose her four favourite songs she’d written as a teenager, old friends that she’s ready to introduce to the world on her debut release.

Ghosts is out on November 27th 2015 via ShimmerSun Music.

If you'd like more information on Freja or our PR services, please email info@abadgeoffriendship.com.
