Piney Gir album launch and Glastonbury show!

For fans of: Flaming Lips, Stereolab, The Breeders, Grandaddy

"A retro delight…" - The Guardian

"…open-hearted pop that has you clutching your knees with glee"
- Drowned In Sound

Piney Gir will be heading to Glastonbury Festival this weekend to play The Rabbit Hole at 7pm on Saturday 27th June.

However, if you're one of the many who didn't manage to pick up a ticket for this year's festival, you can still catch Piney's live show when she launches her forthcoming album, mR hYDE’S wILD rIDE, on 6th July at The Lexington.

Piney's video for 'Golden Heart' premiered on Clash Magazine's website, who described it as "Simple, innocent yet striking." You can watch it now via Damaged Goods' YouTube channel.

You can also stream single Keep It Together via the ABoF SoundCloud page, and watch the video that premiered on Artrocker via YouTube.

Piney's previous video 'Gold Rules' premiered on Gigwise and is now available to watch on the Damaged Goods YouTube channel.

Piney has pulled together a stellar band for her latest album, with members of Gaz Coombes and Emiliana Torrini's touring band jumping in on guitar, bass and drums alongside The Smith Brothers & regular collaborator Garo Nahoulakian taking a seat in the producer’s chair. Andy Ramsay of Stereolab makes an appearance on drums, and the bulk of the album was recorded in his South London studio. The rest was whipped-up in Piney’s little Hackney Studio, small and perfectly formed like a musical toy box, chock-full of space echo, marimba, omnichord and pocket piano, which combine to create a euphoric indie-starshine. Think Yoshimi-era Flaming Lips alongside sparkling tableaux of Mercury Rev., the tunefulness of Grandaddy and riff-led counter-melodies like Pixies

mR hYDE’S wILD rIDE is released 29th June 2015 via Damaged Goods.

The video for Narrowman premiered on The Line Of Best Fit who described it as "positively brimming with playful irony," and you can watch it now via the band's YouTube channel.

They’ve already picked up airplay from the likes of BBC 6 Music and Amazing Radio, and with a Summer tour in the works and a limited edition 7” vinyl set for release in the autumn, Totem Terrors ability to shape noise into immediate nuggets of post-punk genius is sure to make an impact on 2015.

Introducing… Damien McFly!

For fans of: Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, Band Of Horses

A multi instrumentalist, a sound engineer and a powerful voice all wrapped up in one, Damien McFly effortlessly blends the acoustic elements of folk with a rock inspired flair for songwriting. All of the instruments you hear on his latest single, I Can’t Reply, are unplugged, utilising the natural ambience and reverb of specific recording locations to pick up the warmth of live performance on microphone.

You can stream the single and hear Damien's heartfelt sound for yourself via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

Thematically, the single wrestles with the notions of unexpected developments in life and love, riffing on the notion that the thing you least expect to happen often turns out to be the one that leaves you with the best memories. Musically, the song is an explosion of piano and guitar strings, with Damien’s voice peppering the proceedings with gorgeous harmonies and an earnestness and power that bears comparison to Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers.

Damien McFly is the stage name for Damiano Ferrari, a driven, passionate and charismatic singer from Padova, Italy. Dedicated to live performance, he has played over 200 gigs throughout Europe in less than two years and in the summer of 2014 he crossed the Atlantic to play gigs in Chicago, Indianapolis and Nashville.

I Can’t Reply is released 13th July 2015 via Ferrari Records.

Introducing… James Mackenzie!

For fans of: Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, Iron & Wine, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds

James Mackenzie deals in heartfelt lyrics and sumptuous guitar melodies. On his forthcoming EP, Winter, he has chosen to take listeners on a journey through some of the most private moments of his life, opening up his heart for all to see and casting a probing eye on past failed relationships, and how they helped form the man that he is today. Instead of pure introspection, James steps outside of himself, with the help of co-writer Chris Gorman, to gain better perspective and deeper understanding.

To celebrate the release, James is giving away EP track 'Maybe' which you can stream and download for free via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

James has been performing as a solo artist for 6 years, following on from his tenure in Inverness band The Aquascene. There is a raw emotion present in his voice that bubbles under the surface through tracks such as ‘Maybe’ and ‘My Song’, before exploding full force in the soulful EP finale ‘It’s All Good’.

With Influences ranging from Neil Young to Charlie Simpson, along with a long-lasting love affair with heavy metal, James’ sound undulates between the accessibility of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and the passion of Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, landing somewhere in the middle to create something truly unique. He’s already received support from the likes of BBC Introducing’s Ally McCrae as well as XFM’s Jim Gellatly and The Daily Record, and has supported Midge Ure, Idlewild’s Roddy Woomble and played the main stage at festivals such as Belladrum, Tartan Heart and Rockness.

James will spend the rest of 2015 performing live in and around Scotland before heading back to the studio in July to start work on a new album.

Winter is released 3rd August 2015 via Tornface Music.
