The Capture Effect release download track ‘Lies and False Signals’

"… sinister guitars and eerie sound clips." - Magnet Magazine
The Capture Effect are delighted to reveal the free download and video of 'Lies and False Signals', taken from the release of their debut EP Frequencies due for release on 23rd March 2015 via Free Radio.
‘Lies and False Signals’ sees the band focus on a more personal subject matter as the track follows the end of a broken relationship. Guitars screech and samples soar as the vocals take centre stage here, emotive and passionate, as the band come together as one to produce an impressively big sound.
The video for 'Lies and False Signals' premiered on GigSlutz and you can now watch it via the band's YouTube channel.
You can stream and download the track for free from the ABoF SoundCloud page.
You can also download a second EP track, 'London's Burning', for free from the ABoF SoundCloud page.
On Frequencies the London based five-piece have created intense rock music, spliced with electro-synth sound waves, bridged neatly by a compelling narrative told through provocative lyrical content. Each track tells an individual story as the band touch on myriad of topical subjects, both unique to the individual and to society as a whole.
Featuring Iain Littlemore (guitar, vocals), Adam Parr (guitar, keyboard, backing vocals), Andy Malliff (bass, samples, backing vocals), Adam Smith (keyboards, synth, guitar, backing vocals) and Stuart Roberts (drums), the band formed in summer 2014 after an extensive writing period together. Inspired by a shared love of Nirvana, Bloc Party, Biffy Clyro, The Clash and all things David Fincher, The Capture Effect set about writing music that built upon these influences while maintaining a sound very much their own. Indeed their name and the idea of incorporating news reports and samples in their songs came about after an amp picked up a live radio broadcast during rehearsal. The phenomenon is known as ‘The Capture Effect’ and the rest, as they say, is history.
Frequencies is released on 23rd March 2015 via Free Radio.

Sorren’s delicate indie folk sound perfectly captures the desolate beauty of his homeland on the Isle Of Mull. There’s a warmth to his voice and guitar playing that gives the listener a feeling of closeness. This is none more apparent on EP track ‘If Not For You’, where one feels that Sorren could almost be in the room with you. While the title track Way Back Home portrays the longing desperation of life on the road, and the bittersweet homecoming that follows upon the journey back to a more sedate normality. There is a definitive and accomplished quality to Sorren’s sound that allows his voice and guitar to share the spotlight simultaneously.
Growing up on the Isle of Mull, Sorren began playing in bands from age 11. He recorded his debut album, Island, with Colin MacIntyre of Mull Historical Society, which led on to Idlewild singer Roddy Woomble inviting Sorren to co-write his second solo album, The Impossible Song and Other Songs, and they’ve been working together ever since.
As well as playing and touring with Roddy and Mull Historical Society, Sorren also plays in a duo with virtuoso guitarist Finlay Wells. He also produced the EP Echoes by singer Laurie Cameron, which was used in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks and his songs have appeared in E4's Beaver Falls.
Sorren regularly works and records with composer Donald Shaw of Capercaillie, creating music for the soundtracks to BBC Two’s acclaimed Hebrides series and the award winning childrens tv show Katie Morag, as well as many BBC documentaries including McQueen of Scots.
Sorren’s undoubted talent has seen him transcend his own musical projects, having performed on over 20 albums, including upcoming releases from Nashville singer Eliza Lynn and one of Scotlands finest exports, King Creosote whom he is supporting currently on tour. Catch him live at the following dates:
10th March - The Institute - Birmingham
12th March - The Ritz - Manchester
13th March - Roundhouse - London
Supporting Roddy Woomble
9th April - Kings Place

CARALIS releases download track ‘Clicks In - SOLLUS remix’!

CARALIS has unveiled the SOLLUS remix of his forthcoming debut single Clicks In.
While the single Clicks In undulates ominously with snapping beats penetrating the speakers, this remix by SOLLUS strips backs the track to its bare bones, allowing the vocals to shine while riding a wave of atmospheric and minimalist electronica.
You can stream and download the 'Clicks In - SOLLUS remix' for free via the CARALIS SoundCloud page.
The video that accompanies the single premiered on Clash Magazine's website, and you can watch it now via the band's YouTube channel.
You can also stream the original single's radio edit via CARALIS' SoundCloud page.
CARALIS is the brainchild of former Anison front man Dan Frau, who began writing and creating music for his solo project after the band split in late 2014. Collaborating with producer and friend John Merriman, the pair have produced an industrial and, at times, psychedelic sound akin to acts like Caribou and Thom Yorke.
The single was recorded in just one day at John’s Crown Lane studio. Dan set about layering several drum tracks before adding atmospheric keys and vocals while John pieced together loops and samples, creating what would become Clicks In.
Creatively, CARALIS is a sonic departure for singer Dan having fronted alt-rock band Anison for a number of years. The band, who were signed to Spectra Records, were known for their alternative guitar sound and garnered support from the likes of XFM and BBC 6 Music. However, Dan has shown his creative dexterity, transitioning between alt rock and electro genres effortlessly.
Clicks In is released on 23rd March 2015 via Captoerra Records.
Introducing… Benjamin Yellowitz

Benjamin Yellowitz releases his forthcoming single, Ash Wednesday on 16th March 2015 via BYz Records.
You can stream the single via the ABoF SoundCloud page.
Ash Wednesday is a dark and powerful showcase of Benjamin’s distinctive guitar technique and vocals, incorporating elements of industrial electronica and alternative rock, but with an uplifting edge that speaks to the soul. The single is a testament to Benjamin’s skill as a songwriter and producer, and is an exciting introduction to his debut EP, due for release this Spring.
Benjamin has spent time in a number of different bands, spanning genres as diverse as jazz, indie and metal - elements of which can still be heard in his music. He was briefly taught by soulful songstress Laura Mvula and at the age of 17 was performing as a professional musician, drumming for Tru-Thoughts singer Lizzy Parks. He’s also supported acts such as Bonobo and Norman Jay, and played live on BBC 6 Music for Craig Charles.
After a year touring as a solo singer/songwriter, Benjamin found like minded musicians Terry Downs (bass guitar), Josh Fowley (drums, samples & percussion) and Hilda Sibeck (backing vocals). With these three on board, Benjamin’s clever, modern and stripped back sound was finally complete.
With a UK tour planned in March, a European tour in April and the aforementioned EP in the pipeline, Benjamin Yellowitz’ dark and soulful sound is sure to make a big impression on 2015.
