Fable single ‘Silence Myself’ out now!

“...a dark, glistening synth pop gem...” - Clash Magazine

“Brooding cinematic Electronica…” - Guardian

For fans of: Bat For Lashes, Ladytron, Portishead, Thom Yorke

Fable's dark and ethereal single Silence Myself is out now via 74 Music and available to buy digitally on iTunes.

The video for the single premiered on Clash, and you can watch it now on Fable's YouTube channel.

You can also stream the single via Fable's SoundCloud page.

Silence Myself was inspired by transcendental meditation. The single is about escaping the clutter of everyday life and stripping it down to bare and powerful silence. However, like all lyrically driven songs, there are a multitude of meanings that the listener can apply, and Fable’s emotive and enigmatic vocals, which bear comparison to a female Thom Yorke or a minimalist Portishead, leave things open to interpretation.

With a host of festival dates planned for the Summer as well as a debut album on the horizon, Fable is set to make 2015 her own.

Silence Myself is released via 74 Music and available to buy digitally on iTunes.

Introducing… Stark!

For fans of: Son House, The White Stripes, The Black Keys

Stark have returned with their latest single Tunnel Vision released 2nd March 2015.

The video for Tunnel Vision was premiered by R2 Magazine and you can watch it now via the band's YouTube channel.

Stark are bringing alternative blues/rock into the 21st century with their own unique and explosive sound. Lead vocalist Jamie Francis’ resonator guitar creates a distinctive sound you can’t help but be impressed by. This, along with the addition of Josh “Rusty” Franklin’s rumbling bass guitar, Evan Carson’s heavy drum beat and their flawless harmonies gives Stark a progressive twist that you’ll struggle to find anywhere else. Although heavily influenced by early blues artists such as Robert Johnson and Blind Lemon Jefferson, Stark also admire the energy of bands like Rage Against The Machine and the progressive sound of Tool and Porcupine Tree. This eclectic mix is what makes their sound so distinctive.

Having met at university, the Brighton-based trio have spent the last three years honing their songwriting and performance skills and recording, producing and releasing their own music. Their previous two Eps have received support from the likes of Time Out who named them Critic’s Choice, Radio 2's Paul Jones, Huey Morgan, and
Whispering Bob Harris who invited them to perform an acoustic session on his show. In 2014, the boys also got the chance to support Chantel McGregor and Grainne Duffy, as well as regularly touring up and down the country.

Tunnel Vision is released on 2nd March 2015 via Rusty Shed Records.

Introducing… Charlie Barnes!

“Truly promising…” - Drowned in Sound

For fans of: Oceansize, Radiohead, Muse

Charlie Barnes releases his debut album More Stately Mansions via Superball Music on 11th May 2015.

Album track 'Sing To God' is available to stream now via the Superball Music SoundCloud page.

The album’s title is taken from Kurt Vonnegut’s short story of the same name, a story which explores the idea of ‘keeping up with the Joneses’. It’s this theme that Charlie has hooked his album around as he explores his own inner workings - his past, present and future and, to be more exact, the kind of person he wants to avoid becoming.

Although this is Charlie Barnes, it’s not a solo project, Charlie Barnes is very much a band in every sense of the word. Musical inspirations range from Edith Piaf to St Vincent to Mew and it’s this rich tapestry of influences that have given More Stately Mansions diverse sound ranging from sweeping melodies and crescendoing vocals (“Sing To God”) to quieter, more introspective moments (“Balloons”, “Ghosts”) and joyous moments of pure alt rock (“Macbeth, Macbeth, Macbeth”). It’s this explorative sound that sets Charlie apart from the array of bland singer songwriters currently on the scene.

The album was produced by Steve Durose of Oceansize. The band are all massive fans of Oceansize which is prevalent from their precise musicianship and the more cerebral elements of the album.

Drowned in Sound and Prog Magazine have already noted Charlie’s talent and he’s already supported bands like Secret Chiefs 3 and opened for Vessels and The Twilight Sad as a solo artist.

To help promote the album, Charlie was also asked by Leeds based coffee roastery North Star to create his own signature blend. He spent a lot of his early twenties playing solo in coffee houses around the UK and Europe, whilst working part-time making coffee back home in Leeds and it seems to have paid off.

More Stately Mansions is bold and elegant, proving that Charlie Barnes is a strong contender for one of the most exciting new acts of 2015 - a true, rare talent.

The video for album track 'Vow' premiered on The Skinny and you can watch it now via The Skinny's YouTube channel.

The One That Could Have Been defies convention as Kill The Waves pull on their vast array of inspirations to create a sound that straddles genres, with elements of ethereal electronica fused effortlessly with anthemic pop-rock, creating something truly extraordinary. There’s a depth to the band’s compositions rarely seen on a full length debut, boasting immaculately arranged strings, synths and guitars which are all held together neatly by Tim Kwant's impressive vocals as he jumps between octaves with ease. While there is no formal theme to the album, love, death and sacrifice are major inspirations behind their songwriting, as evidenced in tracks such as ‘Oak Tree’ and the techno-minimalist ‘Deadwave’. While it’s difficult to pigeonhole Kill The Waves as there are elements of lo-fi indie present throughout their work however, the band’s ability to create complex, syncopated soundscapes that fill the room bear comparison to the likes of M83 and Four Tet.

Kill The Waves are Tim Kwant (vocals, keyboard & guitar), Joe Williams (bass & keyboard), Dish Speybey (Cello, keyboard & vocals), John Luke Treadgold (drums), Heather Thikey (violin & keyboard) and Rob Williams (guitar), six friends from different corners of Scotland who came together through a mutual love of music. They’ve already graced the stage at T In The Park and have supported the likes of Wild Nothing, Pantha Du Prince and Son Lux. With a host of Scottish dates on the horizon, including a slot at Electric Fields festival, this debut album is only the beginning of what is sure to be an exciting year for the band.

The One That Could Have Been is released via Bloc+Music on 20th April 2015.
