Homework release video for ‘It’s All Over’

- Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music
Homework return with the release of their video for the single, It's All Over, taken from their forthcoming debut album 13 Towers.
Following on from ‘The Edge of Control Was Black’, Homework continue to prove their credentials as one of the best electronic acts emerging from a burgeoning scene in Scotland.
It's All Over illustrates the bands versatility and ability to produce upbeat, pop-inspired dance tunes akin to Hot Chip and LCD Soundsystem, as well as the experimental, challenging moments that can be found throughout the album.
You can watch the official video for It's All Over on YouTube.
Having formed in the Scottish capital in 2009, Homework attracted immediate attention from the nation's new music tastemakers, picking up airplay from BBC Radio One and BBC 6 Music as well as being selected to play the renowned T Break stage at T in the Park festival after only a handful of live shows.
Since then, the band has performed at some of the UK's biggest festivals including Rockness, Belladrum, Wickerman and T in the Park, supported the likes of Suuns, Wave Machines, The D.O.T (featuring Mike Skinner of The Streets) and Cashier Number 9 as well as showcasing at industry events including GoNorth, Glimps (Belgium) and Wide Days. Their recorded output and live shows have been consistently praised by radio (Lauren Laverne, Vic Galloway, Tom Robinson and Ally McCrae) bloggers, journalists and audiences alike.

Having been compared to My Morning Jacket and Neil Young, In Here Somewhere features Three Blind Wolves’ warm Americana-tinged sound, yet with a chilling core. Previously released single Parade, which was released back in October 2012 saw the band rise to great success earning them a great amount of respect. With plays and support from John Kennedy at XFM and Vic Galloway at BBC Radio 1 Scotland and the band also popped into BBC Radio 2 to perform a session for Dermot O'Leary. Amongst a great amount of radio backing the supporting video for Parade was featured on NME and Artrocker.
The band all met playing shows around the Glasgow music scene, Ross Clark (guitar, vocals) was a solo artist and met David Cleary (lead guitar, backing vocals, mandolin) and Kevin Mackay (bass, backing vocals) through their first group Rainbowsheep. They played their first show together in a Japanese noodle bar and their friendship grew from there, playing in clubs, bars, parks and various flats around Glasgow. When it the time came for the friends to form the band properly, Davie and Kevin's a long time friend, Fearghas Lyon (drums), joined and they immediately bonded over jamming to Cream and Daft Punk covers; Three Blind Wolves were born and the four boys haven’t looked back since.
After releasing their mini album Sound of the Storm in 2011, the band quickly gained support from the press. Scotland’s answer to Time Out, The List Magazine, hailed them as a "countrified Modest Mouse" whilst The Skinny Magazine said their debut recalled "genre-defining artists like Bright Eyes and more recently Bon Iver". MOJO Magazine also featured their track "Emily Rose" on a covermount CD and Rolling Stone said they were "the Scottish answer to the Decemberists".
With this latest single release, a tour with Frightened Rabbit and an album planned later in the year, Three Blind Wolves certainly plan to make a big impression in 2013.
Death Rattle release free download ‘The Blows’

"I was blown away..."
- John Kennedy, XFM
With recent radio plays from John Kennedy (XFM) and Tom Robinson (BBC 6Music) as well as video features on NME, Artrocker and Clash, London electronic duo Death Rattle release their new single ‘The Blows’ as a free download and via itunes in collaboration with independent label Frontal Noize.
'The Blows' is available to download now via Death Rattle's Soundcloud page.
'The Blows' is the eagerly anticipated follow-up single to the London duo’s much hyped debut EP HE&I released in October 2012. With its over-blown drums, android-style harmonised vocals and anthemic chorus, this single continues to showcase Death Rattle’s atypical production style and unique, experimental take on a contemporary electro sound. With much of the band’s music written and recorded at their own pop-up studio in the habitable quarters of a derelict 17th century Abbey in France, the duo have now finished recording their second EP for release in April followed by a European tour in May revisiting some of the countries played on their last tour including Germany, Romania, Hungary, Belgium, Holland and the UK.

Introducing… Flutes

“Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant!”
- Ally McCrae, BBC Radio 1
2012 was a busy year for Flutes with the release of their self-titled debut album. A flurry of online press ensued, which saw the band steadily build a loyal fanbase grabbing the attention of BBC Radio 1 Scotland, The Scottish Sun and, most recently, Clash Magazine, with Frightened Rabbit choosing their track ‘Auld Archie’ as a Track of the Day on the Clash website. With all this already under their collective belt, Flutes begin the year on a high and are pleased to announce the forthcoming release of their single Kilburn on the 8th April.
Kilburn is available to stream via Flutes' Soundcloud page.
The b-side, a cover of Haddaway's 1993 hit 'What Is Love' is available as a free download.
A track named after Camden town’s lesser known yet arguably more ferocious neighbour, Kilburn in the words of lead singer Godfrey McFall is “a song is about poets / artists / thespians always tending to gravitate to that horrid combination of womanisers and substance abusers, and with those come the associated highs and lows. As a band we’ve all lived in Kilburn and it was fun (and mildly traumatising) to play with the imagery of Byron and Burns in a Kilburn boozer trying to have it off with the local ladies, then hating themselves for it in the morning”.
Forming on the windswept coast of Fife, the eight year musical story of the four-piece features a church hall in Oxford, corporate espionage, recording in sheds and industrial estates, the M6, an old white minibus, far too many London gigs circa 2007/08, grizzly old men, a BBC sound technician with a fetish for vintage microphones, big belly laughs, and a Scottish football stadium.
Flutes' video for their first single 'Auld Archie' is available to watch now via their YouTube channel.
Last year the band spent two weeks in a static caravan on the outskirts of Glasgow travelling to and from Chem19 Studios where they recorded their debut record. With the album produced and mixed by Jamie Savage (of Olympic Swimmers) in Blantyre and mastering coming from Iain Cook of rising Chvrches fame, the album received praise from all corners of the press and radio with BBC Radio One’s Ally McCrae simply hailing it as “Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant!” and BBC Radio 1 Scotland’s Vic Galloway featuring the band in his top Bands To Look Out For In 2013: “Their debut came late in 2012 but was a delightful surprise - one of my picks for 2013.” Amazing Radio’s Jim Gellatly placed Flutes alongside Chvrches as his Ones to Watch 2013 saying “it won't be long before everyone's calling them the next Frightened Rabbit”.
Not only did support come in from Radio One but Tom Robinson of BBC 6Music made himself known to be one of Flutes’ supporters: “What do you get if you mix jazz, post punk, gothic and rock? A strange cocktail. But then add deep choruses and a progressive hypnotic melody and the result is brilliant”. With comparisons ranging from The Twilight Sad, British Sea Power, The National and Echo & the Bunnymen, Kilburn and supporting b-side, a cover of Haddaway's “What Is Love”, will see Flutes return with their imposing yet spacious sound.
After Kilburn, Flutes plan to release a limited edition EP with the working title Lost in The Sand. The EP will include lost demos, live recordings, remixes and at least one as yet unheard recording. It will be supported by a video by Glow Films as well as other live dates.
12th April - 'What Is Love, Kilburn?' (Flutes curated night running from 9pm-4am) - The Good Ship, Kilburn, London
19th April - The Glad Cafe (supported by Brave Young Red), Glasgow, Scotland
20th April - Penicuik Library (acoustic show with Cello Mind), Penicuik, Scotland

"Very well done indeed." - The 405
Washington DC's Access Royale have announced three dates in the UK as part of a wider European tour. Having formed from a mutual love of Muse, Radiohead, Vampire Weekend and MGMT in 2011, the band released their debut album, City Of Paradigm, on 17th May 2012. They picked up support in the UK from the likes of The 405, Panic Dots, Artrocker, Subba Cultcha and NME.com all covering the release.
The record is notable for it's uplifting message of self-discovery and freedom. The lyrical sentiment is none more apparent than in the free download track "Truth in Numbers". Dealing with themes of loneliness and loss, "Truth In Numbers" takes the listener on an emotional journey accentuated by soaring guitar soundscapes, a driven bass line and snappy, rhythmic drums complimenting the warm, smooth vocals expertly delivered by lead singer Vee Styles.
