Coltana release new single ‘Break Her’!

For fans of... Bikini Kill, Hole, Arctic Monkeys

“...a blur of fresh ideas and

quicksilver riffs…”
- Clash

“...a gritty, highly infectious slice of punk rock…” - Gigslutz

Brixton based punk rock quartet Coltana present their visceral, energetic new single Break Her, out now via Poeticat Presents and available to buy and stream on iTunes and Spotify.

The video for Break Her premiered on Clash and is now available to watch on Coltana's YouTube channel.

The audio for the track premiered on Gigslutz and is now available to stream on Coltana's Soundcloud page.

Break Her was written about the way women are conveyed in society, how they are set to fail against each other, how much emphasis is placed on the way we look collectively and why that can block us from being kind to one another. Catherine goes onto say “Jealousy is an emotion we aren't supposed to express, yet capitalism encourages it and so we are left isolated.”

Founding members Blake Kenrick (guitar) and Catherine Martindale (vocals), formerly of Poeticat decided to leave their old band behind becoming Coltana in 2015, incorporating new members Hugo Tevra (drums) from France and Gordon Duncan (bass) from Reading. Proud of their working class heritage, the band use the music to convey their message. “We don't believe the rock scene is dead,” says Martindale, “we think people need to rock out and rebel more than ever and they should!”

When the band were known as Poeticat, they shared a stage with the now famous Ed Sheeran before his chart topping success. As Poeticat, the band were featured in The Independent and The Metro and they have played at Glastonbury Festival twice over their time together as a band. Coltana are influenced by all things rock, but bands like Rage Against the Machine, Moorhead, Patti Smith and Mastodon are only some of their biggest influences.

Break Her by Coltana is out now via Poeticat Presents and available to buy and stream on iTunes and Spotify.

Animal House announce new single ‘Coca Cola’!

“...filled with bolshy energy...”

- Clash

“...a delightful whirring cacophony of chaos that’s impossible not to love.”
- Gigslutz

"...packed full with unapologetically cheeky

gems..."

- A Music Blog, Yea?

For fans of... The Strokes, Cage The Elephant, Twin Peaks, The Parrots

Cheeky as monkeys and catchy as the flu, Animal House will have you dancing from floor-to-rear with the release of their latest single Coca Cola, out on 9th June 2017.

The single premiered on Gigslutz and is also available to stream via the band's Soundcloud page now.

Animal House are here to kick a bored, robotic generation up off their arses and dancing to guitar music again. With accolades and experience coming out of their ears, there is little doubt that they are poised to become one of indie music’s leading guitar bands. Nonsense, cheekiness and foolish yet on-point observational humour are quickly becoming their trademarks as well as their tight, rebranded 60s garage pop sound. The band’s latest single Coca Cola is raucous, yet well thought out; a welcome break from the EDM bashing that is dominating the pop charts.

Uprooted from the sweet sun in Australia, Animal House relocated to the UK to bring their casual charm onto European stages and into their tracks. Whilst they joke about their hedonistic adventures in the unique pseudo-culture of Brighton, the underlying message is solid; when it comes to entertainment, they’re not trying to impress you - the music - the energy, it speaks for itself.

Fresh off the back of a hugely successful European tour and having also previously supported Courtney Barnett, The Wedding Present, The Preatures, Surfer Blood and Drenge to name a few, Animal House are ready to go. Having already received significant acclaim for their debut EP Sorry from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq and Sean Keaveny, as well as NME, DIY and Clash, Animal House are now gearing up to release their forthcoming EP Hot Bodies. The EP is a cohesive and well-thought-out barrel of guitars, shakers and raspy, sexy vocals and it’s marvellously stupid.

Catch Animal House live at the following dates:

1st June - The Finsbury - London
21st July - The Hope & Ruin - Brighton

Animal House’s latest single Coca Cola and their forthcoming EP Hot Bodies are both out on 9th June 2017.

Maria Kelly reveals new video for ‘Torn Into Two’!

For fans of... Lucy Rose, Billie Marten, Daughter, Warpaint

"...Kelly’s art is an immersive

experience, imbued with honesty

and enthused with youthful

exuberance. We love it."

- Wonderland

"...a glorious concoction full of ear-pleasing tones and immense emotion...."
- The Line Of Best Fit

"...silky smooth vocals that spin widely

relatable tales."

- Consequence of Sound

Irish singer-songwriter Maria Kelly's debut EP The Things I Should is out now via Veta Records. It is available to stream on Spotify and buy on iTunes.

To celebrate the release, the video for Maria's single Torn Into Two premiered on Mahogany and is also available to watch via Maria's YouTube channel now.

The single originally premiered on Wonderland Magazine and is also available to stream via Maria's Soundcloud page now.

The Things I should is a stunning collection of emotionally gripping tracks performed with purity and grace. The EP is based around Maria’s struggle with self-expression and how, by always trying to please others, you can lose a part of yourself in the process. Maria explains, “these four songs are written about four different personal experiences, where a lack of honest expression at the outset had created a much bigger problem in the long run”. Opening track Torn Into Two immediately displays Maria’s signature fragile vocal tone as well as her incredibly earnest songwriting abilities akin to the likes of Lucy Rose and Billie Marten. Each track on the EP builds intricately alongside Kelly’s soaring vocal, with a captivating string arrangement throughout adding the final touch.

Growing up in Mayo, Ireland, Maria spent many years crafting and developing her sound into a stunning combination of delicate indie-folk. She has been writing music since the age of 10 and is currently studying at BIMM Dublin where she met her backing band. Maria also regularly works with Matt Harris (HAWK) who produced this EP as well as her critically acclaimed singles Before It Has Begun, Black & Blue and Stitches. Maria has already played numerous shows in both the UK and Ireland supporting the likes of James Vincent McMorrow and Orla Gartland. 2017 sees Maria back on the road again co-headlining alongside Ailbhe Reddy as well playing The Great Escape Festival on 18th May 2017.

Maria has previously received praise from various online publications including Consequence of Sound, The 405 and The Line of Best Fit to name a few, as well as Radio X. She was also featured in The Irish Times’ ‘Top 50 Songs of 2016’ and ‘Top 50 People To Watch in 2017’. With The Things I Should, Maria hopes to continue to rise as she introduces listeners to her most sincere release yet.

You can catch Maria at the following dates:

18th May - The Great Escape Festival, Brighton
24th May - The Bowery, Dublin - EP Launch - Tickets
26th May - Coughlans, Cork (with Ailbhe Reddy)

DYVR reveals new single ‘Viridian’!

For fans of... SOHN, The Acid, Deptford Goth, Active Child

"...brooding electronica..."

- The Line Of Best Fit

"...rhythmic electronics and lush soundscapes..."

- DORK

Minimalist electronic artist DYVR has returned with his brand new single Viridian, due for release on 26th May 2017 via Veta Records.

The track premiered on The Line Of Best Fit and is now available to stream on DYVR's Soundcloud page.

Viridian explores the emotive subject of self-harm and the effects this can have on friends, family and loved ones. DYVR explains “emotional landscapes can feel impossible to navigate. One of the most difficult things is finding the right way to speak about the issue, or whether to say anything at all. If there is a negative outcome, there is always a feeling that maybe you could have done more”. Sonically, Viridian is filled with euphoric, electronic soundscapes as DYVR’s signature use of falsetto soars effortlessly. Taking influence from contemporary artists such as SOHN and Active Child, DYVR still manages to shine in his own right, maintaining a unique blend of captivating electronica and distinctive, entrancing vocals.

DYVR, together with producer Matt Harris (HAWK, Maria Kelly), has received praise from an array of well-regarded publications including The Line of Best Fit, Noisey, The 405, Consequence of Sound and Stereogum as well as BBC 6Music’s Lauren Laverne to name but a few.

Viridian by DYVR is out on 26th May 2017 via Veta Records.
