Introducing… Love Talk!
Danish alt-rock four-piece Love Talk release their powerful, grunge-tinged new single Her Name Is Jenny on 19th May 2017.
The single premiered on IDIOTEQ and is now available to stream via Tapetown Records' Soundcloud page.
Her Name Is Jenny, inspired by a girl they met at Roskilde Festival in 2014, focusses on the blurred lines between obsession and admiration for someone. The track is driven by heavy licks and pulsating beats sounding akin to Silverchair and L7’s 90s-infused rock, revamped with the Love Talk touch.
Love Talk consists of Casper Iskov (vocals/guitars), Mathias Risager (vocals/drums), Jens Hyldahl (bass/vocals) and Andreas Frandsen (guitars/vocals). They aim to change people’s perception of new music, offering 90s inspired scuzz-filled riffs both audibly and visually. The band have previously played at Extravaganza Festival in Denmark and with Her Name Is Jenny, the band hope to introduce the UK to their unique blend of cathartic grunge rock.
If you're in Denmark, you can now catch Love Talk live on the following dates:
6th May - Grundtvigs Festival
11th May - Headquaters (w/ Spacebaby)
13th May - TAG Festival
19th May - Ungehuset (acoustic set)
25th May - Jelling Musikfestival (acoustic set)
Love Talk’s Her Name Is Jenny is due for release on 19th May 2017.
The Nickajack Men announce new single ‘Running’!
"...a perfect blend of bass, shakers, and twangy-toned guitars..."
- Impose Magazine
Falkirk-based four piece The Nickajack Men are preparing to release their debut EP Wasting Away, due for release on 26th May 2017 via NJM Records.
The band have revealed the first single to be taken from the EP will be Running, which premiered on Impose Magazine and is also available to stream via The Nickajack Men's Soundcloud page now.
The theme of the EP explores the difficulties and frustrations experienced by aspiring young musicians as they try to break free from the environment they have grown up in, preparing to take their first steps into a larger, daunting world. From the first note of the opening track Running, the momentum builds slowly with lead singer Lewis White’s country-tinged vocal style taking centre stage. Skilfully supported by a dynamic band who’s instrumentation is expertly delivered, The Nickajack Men’s ability to write emotive, heartfelt music comes to the fore; producing a captivating, anthemic sound in the spirit of contemporary stalwarts such as Band of Horses.
Each song offers something different from the last, without losing the band’s americana and indie-rock roots, as the listener works their way through an eclectic mix of sounds and rich textures. ‘Marilyn’ is instantly catchy; a combination of 90’s style brit pop fused with traditional country flavours, while ‘Erb’ effectively incorporates elements of gospel and blues. Closing track ‘When The Winter Comes’ showcases the full repertoire of a band in their element culminating in a climactic, classic rock outro that would do Bruce Springsteen proud.
Having formed in 2014, the quartet have been building their name on the Scottish live circuit for the past few years. A sold out show at King Tuts was followed by the ‘Best Newcomers’ 2015, ’Best Single’ and ‘Best Alternative/Indie Band’ 2016 at the Alternative Music in Falkirk Awards. They have also received support from the likes of Gigslutz and Amazing Radio.
With the release of their debut Wasting Away, The Nickajack Men want introduce the rest of the world to their undeniable energy and authentic approach to alt-country rock.
Wasting Away by The Nickajack Men is out on 26th May 2017 via NJM Records.
The Barnum Meserve release new album ‘When All Is Lost’!
“... they could be as huge as their sound.”
- Big Cheese Magazine
"... a large sound and careful arrangement..."
- RMP Magazine
"...an eerie, yet catchy, slice of cinematic rock..."
- Gigslutz
Turning their back on the traditional rock band set up, The Barnum Meserve aim to breath fresh life into the genre with the release of their epic ten track album When All Is Lost, out now via
34D Records and available to buy and stream via iTunes and Spotify.
The video for their second single The Summit premiered on Gigslutz and is available to stream on The Barnum Meserve's YouTube channel.
Opening track Flight sets the tone for the rest of the album as The Barnum Meserve race out of the blocks, immediately showcasing their distinctive sound as the metronomic rhythm section drives proceedings on relentlessly, piano soaring euphorically, all merged beautifully by the unique vocal range exhibited by Leon Wiley (vocals, piano).
Flight premiered on RMP Magazine and you can now stream the video via the band's YouTube channel.
Sombre, brooding and cathartic are just some words you could use to describe the emotive music created by the Nottingham based three-piece. Despite having the ability to produce a robust, heady alternative sound, they skilfully do so with a cinematic flair and expert musicianship that marks them out from many of their contemporaries. Impressively, The Barnum Meserve are a three-piece rock band who write and perform without the aid of guitars, instead experimenting with piano, bass and drums; and creating an atmospheric record that would be just as impressive emanating from a festival’s main stage as it would appearing on the soundtrack of a classic b-movie disaster flick.
While there are elements of introspection evident throughout the record, The Barnum Meserve excel in building layer upon layer of soundscapes, producing a uniquely apocalyptic soundtrack, and emphasising their diverse love of music ranging from Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden to Hans Zimmer and Clint Mansell.
Having been in a number of alternative rock bands over the years, The Barnum Meserve were formed in 2007 by Leon and Dylan Griffiths (bass), who later added Paul Moss (drums), with the desire of creating a dynamic different from what they had been previously exposed to. They have not looked back since having written two EPs, released their debut album in 2015, picking up support from the likes of Big Cheese Magazine, Prog Magazine, Team Rock and Bring The Noise.
When All Is Lost by The Barnum Meserve is out now via 34D Records and available to buy and stream via iTunes and Spotify.

"They manage to bring the stadium
sound to a basement venue, just
huge..."
- Clash
"whirling, crystalline guitars; harrowing vocals; and throbbing rhythms..." - The Revue
"infectious hooks that can’t help but remind you of Kasabian..."
- Gigslutz
Formed back in 2012, Scottish four-piece The Phantoms have earned quite a reputation for their energy-fuelled live shows and are set to take the rest of the UK by storm. Their latest single Shadows, is out now and available to buy and stream on iTunes and Spotify.

The quartet has already supported Catfish And The Bottlemen and We Were Promised Jetpacks, as well as playing Isle Of Wight Festival and selling out King Tuts in Glasgow. Having also received widespread airplay from the likes of Radio X, The Phantoms are fast becoming one of Scotland's most exciting prospects.

Fat Goth share new track ‘Thoroughbred’!
“…Fat Goth are the unholy god-children
of Fugazi and ZZ Top, with their complex
riffology boasting a physical impact...”
- Clash
"...sick shit..." - 8/10, Rock Sound Magazine
"Fat Goth are 101 percent messed-up."
- Kerrang! Magazine
"If it doesn’t leave you feeling grimy by its
conclusion, I have no interest in traipsing through
your internet history..."
- The Line Of Best Fit
After exploding onto the scene four albums ago, Fat Goth's fast paced Mike Patton style brand of wonky alt-rock made quite an impression, particularly with second album Stud (2013) and their third offering One Hundred Percent Suave (2014). Shortly after, the Scottish three-piece took a break from the heady heights of fame and (mis)fortune retiring from the Dundee ‘high life’ after the press storm to regroup. The result is their fourth album Enorme! due for release on May 5th 2017 via Hefty Dafty Records.
Taken from the album is poignant new track Thoroughbred, which premiered on Punktastic and is available to stream now on Fat Goth's Soundcloud Page.
Enorme! is not short on meaty riffs, head-bobbing, balls out rock and a tight rhythm section that has become Fat Goth’s signature sound. However, the boys have turned their backs on the tongue-in-cheek themes conveyed in their last three albums, where they explored the feeling of being the outsiders, the awkward unfashionable don’t-give-a-shit outcasts that were expert at delivering huge, heavy music with sinister humour.
Frontman, vocalist and guitarist Fraser Stewart describes Enorme! as their “angriest” effort yet, as Fat Goth’s ire has turned to the political and social cluster fuck we currently all find ourselves in. “We live in a world where sociopolitical discourse, injustice and prejudices are rife and appear to increase on a daily basis, resulting in such dire circumstances becoming ‘the norm’ and subsequent headlines being met with continual indifference and fatigue,” Stewart explains. “Thanks to social media, we all have a platform where we can spout our outrage and condemn the things we see as wrong, but when everyone is doing the exact same and simply preaching to their respective choirs, there is no debate, no engagement and ultimately no resolve. We fight amongst ourselves allowing hatred and ignorance to cloud our judgement while those responsible continue to fly high and way out of reach of significant scrutiny and accountability. Thematically this is what Enorme! attempts to illustrate.” The anger, frustration and rage is contained within 30-minutes of fast-paced, high-octane rock.
Rock Sound, Kerrang!, Q, The Line of Best Fit, Terrorizer, Louder Than War, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio Scotland, Drowned In Sound, The Skinny, The List and many more of the band’s previous supporters should be happy to see the band return with their uncompromising sound and a more focussed outlook.
Enorme! is out May 5th 2017 via Hefty Dafty Records.
