Bad Wave share new video for ‘1955’!

For fans of... MGMT, Phoenix, Foster The People

"... tightly-spun pop melodies..."

- NME

"…effortlessly freeform pop that doesn’t lose any of its ear worm immediacy in the process…" - DIY

"…a duo who surf the interface between bubbly indie-pop and sumptuously sad synth-pop." - The Guardian

Los Angeles based duo Bad Wave take us back to a bygone era on their latest single 1955 but by going back they want us to look to the future and be hopeful for what’s to come, conveying their message with catchy pop aplomb. Out now on 10k Islands, the duo have now shared a brand new video for the track.

The video premiered on Dork and you can watch it now on Bad Wave's YouTube Channel.

You can also listen to 1955 via Bad Wave's Soundcloud Page.

The band's last single Time To Get Lost explored the darker side of American politics but 1955 has a more positive tone. “A lot of things happened in 1955,” the band explain. “Elvis made his first television appearance. Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat. Steve Jobs was born and Albert Einstein died. Some people wish we could go back to 1955. A nostalgia for a simpler time. But we’re more excited about what’s ahead. We’ve got nostalgia for the future.”

Last year, Bad Wave’s Patrick Hart and Tucker Tota released a slew of singles, each receiving tremendous support, much to the pair’s surprise. 3AM topped the Hype Machine chart, hitting the number one spot, with Runaway peaking at no. 2 and they achieved over a million streams in 2016 as well as featuring on Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist. The Guardian, The Line of Best Fit, DIY, Wonderland and The Sunday Times were amongst their top supporters with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and LA based station KCRW flying the Bad Wave flag on the airwaves.

1955 is out now via 10K Islands and available to stream on Spotify.

Marnie releases single ‘Lost Maps’!

“…crushing percussion outlined by the neon pattering of synthesizers. " - Consequence of Sound

“…upbeat, melodic modern pop..." - Playboy

“…this really is an an incredibly impressive album that deserves a lot of attention." - Popjustice

Ladytron's Marnie has released her latest single Lost Maps, taken from her forthcoming sophomore album Strange Words And Weird Wars, which is out on 2nd June 2017. The single is now available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.

Lost Maps is a brooding, synth-charged pop classic in the making; a single that should be heard on dance floors all over the world. The stream premiered on Consequence of Sound and is now available to stream via Marnie's official Soundcloud page.

The video for Lost Maps premiered on
Playboy. Watch it now on Marnie's YouTube channel.

Lost Maps follows the release of album opener, the unashamedly melodic ‘Alphabet Block’. The song premiered on Popjustice and is also available to stream via the Marnie Soundcloud page

Comprised of ten pulsating tracks, Strange Words And Weird Wars showcases the most impressive elements of Marnie’s incarnation as a solo artist along with those that made her band, Ladytron, one of the most respected pioneers in electronic music; soul crushing synths are wonderfully accented by hook-laden choruses as Marnie boldly explores up-tempo electro dream-pop..

Marnie's ability to effortlessly play with genres becomes more and more apparent as you work your way through what is such a sonically impressive record. Tracks such as ‘Girls’ expertly draws parallels with some of the most gifted female contemporary electro artists, with ‘Electric Youth’ channelling 80’s mall pop; a glorious guilty pleasure and one of the stand-out tracks on the album. Introspection comes in the form of the shoegaze-inspired ‘A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night’, giving the air of an unreleased b-side from a cult vampire movie.

After moving back to Glasgow in September 2012, after many years living in London, Marnie continued to write music following the success of her solo project and subsequent album release in 2013. Influenced by life, love, loss, politics and all things 80’s pop, Marnie has created an album that has an intelligence and a depth behind what, on the surface, is a melodic modern pop record. With support having already come from tastemakers like Consequence of Sound, PopJustice, The Line of Best Fit, Pitchfork, Pop Matters, Under The Radar and Playboy, Marnie will be looking to build upon this through the release of her second solo record; an album that will rightly be deemed one of the most anticipated of 2017.

Lost Maps by Marnie is out now and available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify. Album Strange Words And Weird Wars is due for release on 2nd June 2017.
