Schnarff Schnarff album ‘The evil that we do…’ out now!

"...murky grunge, crunchy alt.rock, 90's indie and shoegaze with a Southern rock aroma..." - Rock Sound
"...drawing upon influences from grunge and metal, through to pop-punk and emo." - Team Rock
"...darker lyrics propel the band’s sound forward..." - Punktastic
Scottish five-piece Schnarff Schnarff are delighted to announce the release of their debut album, The evil that we do…, out now via Black Dug Records and available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.
The band have skilfully constructed a sound that draws on influences ranging from metal to pop-punk and grunge to emo, a sound that has seen them pick up a well of support from the rock press and beyond culminating in their most recent video, the wonderfully animated 'Flip The Cross', premiering on Upset Magazine. The video is now available to watch on the Schnarff Schnarff YouTube channel.
Stream 'Flip The Cross' via the Schnarff Schnarff Soundcloud page.
The campaign kicked off with album track and free download 'Mario1-2' premiering on Punktastic followed by single 'Cadavers', where Schnarff Schnarff exhibit a deeper complexity to their sound, premiering on Team Rock. Further press followed with Team Rock again showing the band some love with a 'New Band of the Week' feature and the lovely folks at Rock Sound reviewing the record.
On The evil that we do... Schnarff Schnarff perfectly illustrate why BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway described their sound as “staccato grunge pop” with tracks such as the aforementioned ‘Flip The Cross’, former single ‘This Is How We Get Some’ and free download track 'Mario1-2' all delivered with the impetus and snarl of bands like Biffy Clyro, Saves The Day and Taking Back Sunday. Myles Bonnar’s (vocals) lyrics and expertly delivered vocals are flanked impressively by Jamie Douglas (drums), Paul ‘Thunder’ Tracey (bass) Richard Douglas (guitar) and Andrew ‘Turtle’ MacLean (guitar) as Schnarff Schnarff really let loose, showcasing their ability to marry hooks and choruses to complex time changes, mighty guitar riffs and metronomic drum fills.
Originally hailing from Inverness, the band formed while they were all scattered throughout the UK, bonded together by a desire to go against the grain of the current accepted norm in music with the aim of producing music similar to the bands that influenced them growing up. After relocating to Glasgow they haven’t looked back since, continually creating music and playing live shows, before recording their album with renowned Scottish producer, Paul Savage (Mogwai, The Twilight Sad, We Were Promised Jetpacks).
Over the last few years Schnarff Schnarff have gained support from the likes of Radio 1 (Huw Stephens), 6 Music (Steve Lamacq), BBC Scotland (Vic Galloway), Amazing Radio’s Jim Gellatly, Team Rock, Rock Sound, Upset Magazine and Punktastic as well performing at festivals T in The Park, Belladrum, Wickerman, and Brew at the Bog.
The band will play a launch show at King Tuts on Friday 16th September with tickets now available to purchase via the band's merch page.

Introducing… Animal House!

“... filled with bolshy energy...”
- Clash
“... snarling, hedonistic Garage rock...”
- Gigwise
Australian indie-rockers Animal House create a raucous, energy-fuelled sound on their upcoming EP Sorry, out on 18th November 2016.
Having already received critical acclaim for their last single English Girls, Animal House’s new EP is filled with witty lyrical storytelling, racing riffs and infectious choruses. With its undeniably catchy, high-energy garage-infused sound, reminiscent of the likes of The Strokes and The Raconteurs, Sorry oozes a welcome tongue-in-cheek attitude.
As an introduction to the EP, you can stream the track Heavy now via the band's Soundcloud page.
You can also watch the video for previous single English Girls via the band's YouTube channel.
Animal House explains that Sorry is an “apology to our parents, friends, past employers who put their faith in us to lead a sweet and comfortable life in Aus and instead we’ve blown all that on a shot at making music”. Remembering the hedonistic adventures they’ve had whilst making music, the band admit they’re actually ‘not sorry’, and revel in the fun they’ve been having in the UK on each vibrant and uptempo track.
Finally settled in the UK, Animal House have already supported the likes of Courtney Barnett, Surfer Blood and Drenge to name a few. They have also received praise from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq and Sean Keaveny, NME, DIY and Clash. They now hope to continue charming listeners with their “stupid garage pop songs” on Sorry.
Sorry is out on 18th November 2016.
Introducing… Pip Blom!

"...slicker-than-your-average melodies..." - DIY
"...a gigantic dollop of catchy pop pep."
- The Line Of Best Fit
20 year old singer-songwriter Pip Blom releases her forthcoming EP Are We There Yet? on 28th September 2016 via Toaster Records.
EP track Taxi Driver premiered on The Line Of Best Fit and is available to stream now via Pip Blom's Soundcloud page.
Based in Amsterdam, Pip Blom writes, records and releases her own indie-pop tunes with a twist. Although she only started releasing material earlier this year, she has already received acclaim from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and BBC 6Music’s Steve Lamacq, and has built a following across Europe and the US.
Combining raw guitar power with catchy melodies, Are We There Yet? consists of three powerful offerings. First track 'Taxi Driver' is an uptempo wall of indie sound whilst ‘Honey’, on the other hand, is a gritty love song, and final track ‘Alone’ flows with a fragile, beautiful sadness.
Due to set off on tour in the Netherlands and England with a full band in October 2016, the raw, sparkling sound of Pip Blom is sure to charm the ears of many in no time.

Lowla release new video for ‘Walls’!

"Pop that is unashamed to be pop, that is plastic, fantastic, and completely in your face.” - Clash
90s loving denim-clad pop duo Lowla have released their latest video for Walls, a track taken from their upcoming new EP of the same name, due for release on 30th September 2016 via DIY.
The video for Walls premiered on God Is In The TV and is available to watch now via Lowla's
YouTube channel
Lowla have set out to create a diverse and inspired collection of songs on their Walls EP. Their own unique brand of fun alt pop is ever present but the meaning behind the songs is a little more serious this time around with the girls focussing on relationships and the world around them but there are still some light-hearted moments in-between.
'Walls' flows with delicate harmonies, alongside grittier vocals, tribal beats and screeching riffs. Carrying topical themes of revolution and social awareness, the track is a step away from the romantic reflections of previous single 'Reckless' and sets out to look at the bigger picture. Of the track Lowla say: “‘Walls is all about the here and the now and the world that we live in. It's a very personal number for us. We truly believe in the power of people getting together and making a change.”
‘Those Days Are Gone’ is about a broken relationship and inner conflict whilst ‘Money Doesn’t Matter’ looks at the disparity between the classes - the rich becoming rich, whilst the poor struggle. However, the EP ends on a more positive note with ‘Electrified’ - the track asks us to focus on the positives in life, our relationships and the ones we love.
Meeting by chance when creative stylist Lara featured as a guest vocalist on a track that Lo was producing, Lowla was born and the pair continue to pride themselves on their musical and visually pioneering creations.
After the success of 'Reckless', Lowla aim to move forward into different territory with their latest EP and as pop artists, exploring more serious ground but with an undying love of denim. Some things never change!
Lowla’s EP Walls is released on 30th September 2016 via DIY.
Gallery 47 shares new track ‘Some Of You Don’t Get It’!

“…Jeff Buckley-esque vibrato with sheer youthful exuberance…”
- Drowned in Sound
Gallery 47 aka Jack Peachey returns with another slice of heartfelt, poetic folk with new track Some Of You Don't Get It. The song is taken from forthcoming album Clean, set for release on 11th November 2016 via AWAL / Bad Production Records.
Some Of You Don't Get It premiered on Folk Radio UK and you can also listen to it on Gallery 47's Soundcloud page.
You can also watch the videos for 'Free Range' and 'Its Been A Long Day', taken from the forthcoming album, via Gallery 47's YouTube channel now.
Following the release of Jack’s sophomore album, All Will Be Well in 2014, Gallery 47 set off on tour with Paul Weller across Europe and signed a publishing deal with BMG Berlin shortly after. The album revolved around a badly timed break-up during a period where Jack was facing health problems, forcing him to leave his job. Since then the couple reunited and married, hence the title All Will Be Well.
Clean is Jack’s third album, which is a departure from his previous release. His latest album mirrors All Will Be Well by expressing his new found peace with songs like ‘Never Alone’ and ‘Dream Real’. Jack’s ability to reflect on personal experiences feels similar to the likes of Bob Dylan’s raw writing style mixed with Iron & Wine’s soft, bittersweet sound.
Amongst Jack’s supporters are BBC Radio 2‘s Bob Harris, BBC 6music’s Tom Robinson, BBC Radio Nottingham’s Dean Jackson, The Guardian, Drowned in Sound and Folk Radio to name a few. Gallery 47 has also supported a number of well established acts like Paul Weller, Alice Phoebe Lou, Ian McCulloch and Andrew Montgomery as well as playing on the BBC Introducing stage at T in the Park.
Gallery 47’s album Clean is out on 11th November 2016 via AWAL / Bad Production Records.
