Broken Boy single ‘Just To Leave You’ out now!

"… three-piece indie outfit that's set to take the music world by storm." - Gigwise
Broken Boy have released their latest single, Just To Leave You, via Canvas Records. You can buy it digitally via iTunes.
Blending the best elements of bands such as Franz Ferdinand and The Strokes, Broken Boy have produced a single that explodes into life before breaking down into a minimalist yet catchy verse showcasing Cam Black’s distinctive vocals and low rumbling bass, while brother Stewart Black provides a punchy attack on lead guitar. The video premiered on Gigwise and is available to watch via the band's YouTube channel.
You can also stream the single via the ABoF SoundCloud page.
You can also download and stream their previous single She Said for free via the ABoF SoundCloud page and watch the video that accompanies the track via Broken Boy's YouTube channel.
Broken Boy began in 2013 when brothers Stewart and Cam began to write together after flirting with several separate musical projects. Initially, the ambition was to expand their sound into an Arcade Fire style six piece band, but they decided their sound was more suited to a stripped back three-piece indie vibe, and in 2015 the brothers joined forces with drummer Fraser Laing who was the final piece of the jigsaw.
With the band fresh out the studio with Chem 19’s Paul Savage (Twilight Sad, Teenage Fanclub) and having recently played shows with Catfish and The Bottlemen and Circa Waves, 2015 looks set to be a breakthrough year for the talented trio.
You can catch Broken Boy's explosive live show at the following dates:
9th May - PJ Molloys - Dunfermline
10th/11th June - XPO North Festival - Inverness
Just To Leave You by Broken Boy is released via Canvas Records and available to buy digitally on iTunes.
CARALIS releases video for ‘Be Automatic’!

"Effortlessly pieced together" - Clash
CARALIS has released the video for second single Be Automatic, out 1st June 2015 via Captoerra Records.
The follow up to their striking debut, Clicks In, which received support from the likes of XFM’s John Kennedy and Clash Magazine, Be Automatic is an atmospheric tour de force, with intense beats and synthesisers providing the perfect vehicle for Dan Frau’s evocative vocals. There’s an emotional quality to the track that is reminiscent of New Order at their very best, whilst maintaining the cutting edge sound of the modern.
The video premiered on GigSlutz and you can watch it now via the band's YouTube channel.
You can also stream and download previous single Cicks In for free on the CARALIS SoundCloud page.
The video that accompanies the single premiered on Clash Magazine's website and you can watch it now on YouTube.
CARALIS is the brainchild of former Anison front man Dan Frau, who began writing and creating music for his solo project after the band split in late 2014. Collaborating with producer and friend John Merriman, the pair have produced an industrial and, at times, psychedelic sound akin to acts like Caribou and Thom Yorke.
Creatively, CARALIS is a sonic departure for singer Dan having fronted alt-rock band Anison for a number of years. The band, who were signed to Spectra Records, were known for their alternative guitar sound and garnered support from the likes of XFM and BBC 6 Music. However, Dan has shown his creative dexterity, transitioning between alt rock and electro genres effortlessly.
Be Automatic is released on 1st June 2015 via Captoerra Records.

Planes announce their second EP ‘Hotfoot’!

Planes have announced their second EP, Hotfoot, released 11th May 2015 via Merrington Music.
To give fans a taste of their forthcoming release, Gigwise premiered EP track 'Olé' and you can now stream it via the SoundCloud page.
Hotfoot swings from the cinematic rock of ‘Summer Breeze’, to the tender and emotional air-raid of ‘Wait It Out’, without skipping a beat while 'Olé' manages to be bold, personal and assertive but with a certain amorousness and swagger reminiscent of Tame Impala. The EP symbolises the band’s fight to stay together, as they’ve spent the last few years beset by external forces keeping the band from their primary passion - playing together. The songs are testament to that tumultuous time, and the band’s rebirth has made them realise they have a lot more to say.
Steve Forrest (guitar & lead vocals) recently announced his departure from Placebo in order to focus all his energies on Planes. The rest of the band consist of Char O’Lette (keys, strings & vocals), Ted Brunning (guitar & vocals), Ed Harris (drums) and Dan Sayer (bass & vocals). The band formed when Ted and Steve decided they wanted to create an EP with strong individuals that would stand out so they turned to their talented friends and Planes was born. The band are currently based in Brighton but hail from somewhere between Lancashire, Bristol and California!
When the NME first wrote about Planes in 2012, the magazine described their debut EP as "soft, bluesy country-esque ballads”, however, it is on their new EP, 3 years later, that the band have now found their epic sound, and seem to be hurtling forwards at breakneck speed.
Plane’s fervent and dedicated fans, who refer to themselves as ‘Pilots', have taken the band into their hearts. Following a recent preview of 'Wait It Out' on Tom Ravenscroft's BBC 6 Music show, Amy Lamé explained that the BBC twitter account was "in absolute meltdown!" from fans showing their appreciation.
Frequently trending on twitter with their #AskPlanes sessions, and extraordinary live shows where fans regularly travel thousands of miles to attend, the band are excited to reward their fans’ devotion with their forthcoming EP, Hotfoot.
Hotfoot is released on 11th May 2015 via Merrington Music.
