"...an enthralling piece of synth pop with a real sense of art." - Clash
Berlin based electro pop duo Me And My Drummer’s latest album Love Is A Fridge is out now via Sinnbus and is available to buy on iTunes.
Love Is A Fridge is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut album The Hawk, The Beak, The Prey and includes recently released singles Blue Splinter View and Pentonville Road.

New album Love is a Fridge is ten perfect tracks nothing short of an electropop masterpiece as Matze Pröllochs and Brandi traverse a wide and varied soundscape. Her vocals are stronger than ever, enough to match the soulful electropop tones of Florence Welch or Jessie Ware. An album that musically covers a huge range of styles and ideas maintaining its bold feel and flavour for experimentation all the way through. If you imagine Bat For Lashes meets Lykki Li you’re close, but there’s something somewhat celestial about Me And My Drummer that sets them apart.
Me And My Drummer have received acclaim from a range of sources, but most recently, their single Blue Splinter View was played on Lauren Laverne's BBC 6Music show. The duo have also received praise from the likes of XFM, BBC Radio 1, NME, Rolling Stone, MTV, DIY, The Line of Best Fit, Clash and The 405 and with a strong following in their home country, the band are making a bold step forward once again with their second album.

Introducing… Tryptamines!

Tryptamines are all set to reissue their conceptual EP Metropolis, due for release on 18th March 2016 via Fitlike Records.
You can download their track Nina Shuffles now via the ABoF Soundcloud page or via the embed below.
Inspired by the Fritz Lang film of the same name, the EP is based around modern cultures increasingly dependent relationships with machines, questioning both the good and bad facets of these developments and ultimately where this might lead in the not too distant future. As a result, Tryptamines have created a four track EP where each individual song has a feeling so distinct in nature, it’s difficult to pin the band down into any one particular genre, as they embrace elements of psychedelia, space rock, post-rock, pop, lounge and experimental rock
Title track ‘Metropolis’ evokes memories of artists such as Beck and Caribou thanks to its cerebral dream-pop sounds combined expertly with a playful trippiness - a sound that will become synonymous with the band. This experimental yet whimsical sound can also be heard on ’Nina Shuffles’ where the affecting influences of CAN and Captain Beefheart are apparent throughout. The other half of the EP has a completely different feeling as Tryptamines continue to push their creative boundaries on the songs ‘Why Are There People Like Frank?’ and ‘Insulin Unmix’, stepping boldly into the sprawling, hypnotic and bleak soundscapes of bands like Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Mogwai.
Formed in Aberdeen by Chemical Callum (piano, guitar, omnichord, hammond organ, vocals), Tom The Noisemonger (vocals, samples, tiny broken keyboards, echoes & noises) and Foxbeef (bass guitar, drums and percussion) the trio have already played a number of psychedelic festivals and gigs around their native Scotland and are currently working on their forthcoming album release in spring 2016.
Metropolis is reissued on 18th March 2016 via Fitlike Records.

The band collaborated with producer Dimitri Tikovoi (Horrors, Placebo, Marianne Faithful) on Once Told with the track mixed by Catherine Marks best known for her previous work with Wolf Alice and Howling Bells.

Mairearad Green releases ‘Star of Hope’ video!

”…beautiful...” - Folk Radio
”…an immersive cinematic soundscape…” - fRoots
”…beguiling…” - The Skinny
Mairearad Green has released a stunning new video for latest track Star of Hope, featuring the legendary King Creosote on vocals. The song is taken from her upcoming album Summer Isles, out on February 26th 2016 via Buie Records.
The video premiered on The Skinny and you can also watch it now via Mairearad Green’s YouTube channel.
Star of Hope is about a trading boat, of the same name, that came into her hometown of Achiltibuie from the Orkney Islands. After writing the song, Mairearead felt the lyrics were more suited to a male vocal. She explained to The Skinny, "His voice is so perfect for the song," says Green. "Since recording it, I've also played pipes on his forthcoming album, so the collaboration continues." King Creosote aka Kenny Anderson also joked saying "I feel as though I answered a personal ad that read: 'Virtuoso bagpiper/accordionist from the Summer Isles seeks middle-aged alt. folk singer to collaborate on an original song that he might well wish he could poach for his own album.'"
The audio stream premiered on Folk Radio and you can listen now on the ABoF Soundcloud page.
Star Of Hope is taken from Mairearad’s beautiful new solo album Summer Isles, which is all about her life growing up in the Scottish Highlands. The Summer Isles and the folk tradition are deeply rooted in Mairearad’s composition and as a result, she has created an exquisite collection of acoustic, folk and cinematic vignettes that evoke an overwhelming listening experience.
Mairearad (piano, accordion, bag pipes, vocals) is joined by a number of guest musicians including legendary singer/songwriter King Creosote, Hector McInnes (vocals), Ross Saunders (bass), Scott MacKay (drums), Jo Nicolson (clarinet), Pat McGarvey (banjo), Mike Vass (fiddle), and Annie Grace, Jeana Leslie and Hamish Napier (backing vocals). Combining each musicians’ stylistic background, producer Iain Hutchinson has created a refined and inventive sound that faultlessly captures Mairearad’s vision.
