Introducing… The Cradles!

“…Brilliant!…”
- Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales
Welsh indie rock band The Cradles are set to announce their exhilarating sound to the world with the release of their brand new single Ideal Girl out on March 25th via Solva Records.
You can stream Ideal Girl now via The Cradles’ Soundcloud page or via the embed below.
Ideal Girl tackles universal themes of wallowing in self-pity as one blindly searches for love and companionship. The track kicks off with a ‘Misirlou’ style surf-rock guitar riff before building into a undeniably catchy chorus akin to the likes of early Arctic Monkeys and The Libertines. Lead singer Joe Norman’s vocals water tight throughout, as he emotes an almost effortless feeling, whilst still managing to maintain a gritty yet dynamic rock sound.
Having met at school in Cardiff in 2012, The Cradles quickly started to make a name for themselves on the local music scene in Wales, and have now cemented themselves as one of South Wales’ most celebrated acts for 2016. Band members Joe Norman (vocals), Kieran O’Brien (guitar), Luke Haines (bass) and brothers Toby Andrews (guitar) and Declan Andrews (drums) have been praised for their live performances in particular, cutting their teeth and honing their set while supporting the likes of Pretty Vicious and The Bohicas.
The Cradles have received support from the likes of BBC 6Music’s Tom Robinson, Radio X’s John Kennedy, BBC Radio Wales’ Adam Walton and Bethan Elfyn alongside a variety of online websites and blogs. As well as landing support slots, the five piece have also played a number of festivals including Swn Festival, X Music Festival and they will be supporting Bill Ryder-Jones this March. The Cradles are eager to show that they are not just another indie rock band, rather they are a band of unique personalities who’s mandate is to write and perform good old-fashioned rock and roll with a modern twist.

Introducing… Warriors of the Dystotheque!

“...a sublime statement of intent…” - The Thin Air
Warriors of the Dystotheque's latest EP Return To Coney - out 4th March 2016 via Tigre Fair - is a dystopian journey deep into the heart of modern trip hop and gloomtronica.
The band came together via Facebook and are very much a sign of the times - four minds meeting online with the aim to create and collaborate. Despite being located in different parts of the world, this hasn’t stopped Warriors of the Dystotheque from releasing music, The Future Is Ours EP and now their latest offering Return To Coney.
The Candi Bianca remix of Return To Coney premiered on The Thin Air, but you can also stream it now on the Warriors of the Dystotheque Soundcloud page.
The concept behind the band originated with founding member Jonny Mac from his studio in Derry, Ireland. Through a friend’s Facebook post, he met Mike and Nick Rufolo, both based in New York and the final piece was added in the form of member Sean Graham, who spends his time between the UK and France.
On Return To Coney, Ella Joy’s vocals provide a haunting backdrop. The EP itself is inspired by cult 70s film The Warriors and particularly one of the final moments of the film, where The Warriors return to their home turf - Coney Island. In fact, at the end of 2015, the cast of The Warriors got together for a fan event, 36 years after the movie’s release - to return once more to Coney Island. Warriors of the Dystotheque’s EP arrives in perfect time to pay homage to the classic.
The music is very different from the cult hit from which it was inspired though. Return To Coney is a cool blend of lo-fi soundscapes - think Massive Attack meets UNKLE. The collaborators on the EP add their own spin to the title track as well, stretching the band’s sound to the fringes of ambient techno (Attrition) to straight-up modern acid (Miaoux Miaoux) but track Escape From Coney is more of a nod to The Warriors’ Original Soundtrack.
Jonny has spent over 15 years on the DJ scene all across the globe touring alongside Shaun Ryder and Bez (Happy Mondays), Phil Hartnoll (Orbital) and many more. Now, as a collective, Warriors of the Dystotheque are beginning to find their own sound, reaching out from the distance, connected, plugged in and turned on by modern technology, communicating together online - a living breathing organism that’s taken on a life of its own.
Return to Coney is out March 4th 2016 via Tigre Fair.
Twinnie’s debut single ‘Cool’ out now!

Twinnie’s debut single Cool is out now on TLM Records. It reached number 2 in the iTunes country chart and you can download the track via Amazon and iTunes now.
You can also stream Cool now on Twinnie's Soundcloud page.
Although known for her role as Porsche McQueen in Hollyoaks, Twinnie is set on making her mark in the world of pop with the release of her debut solo single. Twinnie has already had long connection to music, being part of the group who went on to become The Shires as well as securing her own song writing deal with Universal Publishing. She has spent many years developing and honing her already sought after talents. However it is her acting that she is probably more widely known for, as well as an 18-month stint on UK soap Hollyoaks she has also appeared in a number of West End musicals including Chicago and Rock of Ages.
Her success on stage and on screen has come with critical acclaim, however Twinnie’s heart has always remained with her music as she notes: “while it was fun I always felt it's not want I really wanted to be doing. I desperately wanted to be an artist”.
On Cool she combines pop and country influences with her beautiful vocals to create a hybrid style which bares similarities to early Taylor Swift. The first track to be released from an as yet unnamed debut EP out in 2016, Cool evokes memories of times gone by, looking back with fondness but also finding them bittersweet, missing those who have maybe drifted away over the course of time.
Cool is out now on TLM Records.

The Frisbys’ gorgeous EP ‘The Cause’ out now!

"...heartwarming and sweetly soulful..." - Gigwise
"...glorious harmonies and sweet, emotive sound..." - For Folk's Sake
The Frisbys’ beautiful second EP The Cause is out now via Dantobaccus Records. The six-piece have gone from strength to strength since the release of their debut EP Philosolve two years ago, evolving their sound along the way and, as the band have grown, so has their music. The Cause reflects this perfectly with its collection of stunning stand-out tracks that will resonate with you for days.
The Frisbys recently released EP track Waves which premiered on Going Solo. Listen to the song now on the ABoF Soundcloud page or via the embed below.
The band have also released two videos for their double A-side single Born and Raised / Give in to the Dark which you can watch below:
They describe Give in to the Dark as a hopeful song about supporting a loved one through dark times and Born and Raised as “light hearted and upbeat...almost a countrified version of ‘No Scrubs’ by TLC”. The other tracks on the EP carry a similar theme and are filled with utterly stunning harmonies and musicianship throughout. If you’re looking for something to warm you up this Winter then this EP will definitely do the trick.
Helen and Nicola have been singing and playing music together since they were old enough to speak. Having performed as a duo for many years honing their incredible vocal harmonies, it took a boredom call from a broken-legged Marc Robinson (piano, guitar) to convince them to start a full band. The three were joined by Sam Keer (acoustic/electric/slide guitar), and later, Will Cattermole (bass) and Tom Finigan (drums). They have been producing haunting and emotive music ever since.
Having received past support from Ruth Barnes, Gary Crowley and Kathryn Tickell on Amazing Radio, Mark Forrest on BBC Radio, Team Rock Radio,Gigwise,
Folk Radio and For Folk’s Sake, the band already boast an impressive collection of fans. Born and Raised has also recently been featured as Track of The Day on Sarah Gorrell’s Drive Time Show on BBC Sussex.
The Cause is out now on Dantobaccus Records and is available to buy via iTunes and Bandcamp now.
Connah Evans releases video for Wait For Me!

"...an energy-filled, yet emotion-strewn, slice of indie-pop." - Gigslutz
Connah Evans is back with his single Wait For Me, out February 26th 2016 via Heart Leap Records.
In the run-up to the single’s release, Connah has unveiled his latest video for the track, which premiered on Gigslutz. The video is also available to watch now via Connah’s YouTube channel.

Wait For Me is Connah's first release since last year's EP Labels. Connah shows off an up-beat sound more akin to Circa Waves or The 1975, however he remains true to himself with his heartfelt lyrics and songwriting talent.
The song tells the story of two estranged lovers that decide to try again but are wary of falling into the same traps that they did the first time. It is centred around the line “it makes me feel like I’m not alive”, representing that moment when, in their absence, you realise how important the person is to you. Clearly writing from such a personal experience allows Connah to make his music engaging, he explains “so many things happen to me, good and bad, I just write them down on paper and turn them into songs”.
On previous releases Connah has been heavily featured on BBC Wales, including being Artist of the Week. He has also supported childhood heroes of his The Hoosiers and performed at Wakestock Festival, building up a number of fans in the process. Wait For Me is not only an energetic, fun pop song but also represents an interesting development in Connah’s growth as a young musician.
Wait For Me is out February 26th 2016 via Heart Leap Records.
