K V A S I R releases slick electro-pop debut EP!

“...a heady, warped piece of euphoric techno-pop…” - The Line of Best Fit
"...multi-layered colour." - Clash Magazine
Electronic solo artist K V A S I R is delighted to bring his immersive dance music to a wider audience with the release of his debut self-titled EP, K V A S I R, out now via KV10 Records and available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.
The EP streamed exclusively on Clash Magazine's website following the release of download track First Throws which premiered on The Line of Best Fit and is free to download and stream on the K V A S I R Soundcloud page.
Consisting of four unique tracks, the EP flows with vibrant, glitchy beats; pulsing arpeggiators; discreet and dream like vocals and a sweeping sense of joy. This is modern take on dance music offering relief from the invasion of big room EDM. K V A S I R is hugely inspired by the way in which music combines with visuals and, in particular, film; recently having been impressed by the 80’s inspired sound reinvigorated by the likes of S U R V I V E (Stranger Things, The Guest) and Cliff Martinez (Drive).
Big screen influences are particularly evident on tracks such as ‘Exchange’, which K V A S I R was inspired to write after watching Oliver Stone’s Wall Street. This in turn fed into the concept behind ‘First Throws’, which reflects on how wealth and greed, brought about by a capitalist society, affect the quiet, introspective moments before we fall asleep. While ‘Lyon’ sees K V A S I R reflect on mistakes made in the past, determined never to make them again; a sentiment we can all identify with.
With his innovative style combining elements of 80’s and 90’s dance music, allied to an intense live show married with visual art, K V A S I R looks set to bring dancefloors across the world to life with his soaring new creations.

- Impose Magazine
"...a voice that will your melt heart..."
- The Revue
Freja Frances' delicate and heartfelt double a-side single Porcelain Doll / Breathe is out now via ShimmerSun Music. Both tracks are available to buy on Amazon now.
To celebrate the release, the video for Porcelain Doll premiered on Impose Magazine and you can also watch it via Freja's YouTube channel now.
Breathe premiered on The Revue and is also available to stream on Freja's Soundcloud page.
Despite portraying individual stories, Porcelain Doll and Breathe still feel as though they come together as one whole. Written around the same time, with Freja enlisting the help of sessions musicians, these two tracks exhibit a significant progress in Freja’s already impressive songwriting skills, as she effortlessly displays a stunning storytelling charm akin to the likes of Gabrielle Aplin. Still remaining centre stage however, are Freja’s effortless, authentic vocals accompanied by her intimate, yet powerful, piano-led melodies helping to bring both tracks to life.
Freja first started writing songs at the age of nine with dreams of starting a rock band and becoming the next big thing. However, due to her ability to prolifically write high calibre music at such a young age, Freja decided she didn’t need a band behind her and ended up with a collection of heartfelt songs which she now has at her disposal. Since the release of her debut EP Ghosts, Freja has received praise from various publications including For Folk’s Sake, Gigslutz and The Girls Are, to name a few. She has also performed at Sofar Sounds London and has been commissioned to write a song for Bossa Studios’ upcoming game ‘Worlds Adrift’, which launches later this year.
With this latest release, it feels as though Freja has started to find her niche as a musician as her songwriting ability continues to go from strength to strength.

Amongst Moonlight Zoo’s supporters are Radio X, who featured their previous single Breaking Or Broken as their ‘Track of the Week’ and Jim Gellatly who featured the band in The Scottish Sun, which then led to their debut appearance at the Isle Of Wight Festival.

Rootwork release video for ferocious track ‘Zero’

"Just irresistible..." - Tom Robinson BBC 6 Music
"...muscular riffs." - Visions Magazine
"...dynamic, aurally compelling rock music..." - Punktastic
Sludge-pop three piece Rootwork have released the video for their ferocious track 'Zero', taken from their forthcoming EP Some Of Us May Never Bloom, out on 18th November 2016 via Ubiquity Project Records.
Having beguiled us on their sprawling 2015 EP Gallows Humour, Rootwork continue to further enhance their reputation with another fabulous track; huge riffs are straddled beautifully by gorgeous harmonic vocals as the track rocks and sways, leading into a savage outro. The video premiered on German online rock site Visions Magazine and is now available to watch via Rootwork's YouTube channel.
The release of 'Zero' follows on from free download ‘Trust’, the EP opener, which premiered exclusively on Punktastic and is available to download for free on the ABoF Soundcloud page or by clicking the embed below:
Creating a sound that is as brutal as it is harmonic, Rootwork have embraced many of the elements of modern metal music perfectly taking the listener on a journey through metal, stoner rock, prog, post-hardcore and doom-pop over five faultlessly comprised songs. This is evident on the aforementioned 'Trust', while songs such as ‘Ozymandias’ is akin to being lost in a sonic maze, as riffs twist and turn throughout, and Rootwork pulverise their way through just over six minutes worth of mesmerising melodies, before closing with a gorgeous dream-like outro. Intelligent, challenging, explosive yet intricate, and technically gifted, Rootwork are a band whose resonance should be felt throughout the alternative rock community much like contemporaries such as Baroness and Torche.
Comprised of Max Woodhams (guitar, vocals), Jamie Benzine (bass, backing vocals) and Chris Booth (drums, vocals), the band formed in Farnborough towards the end of 2013 having come together through their mutual love of heavy, melodic and complex rock music. In December 2015 they released their first full length EP picking up support from the likes of Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing. With the wind in their sails the band quickly followed the EP release up with single Code Talker with the video premiering on Team Rock. Now, with a new EP set for release and a number of tour dates in the works, Rootwork are aiming to end the year on a high.
Some Of Us May Never Bloom by Rootwork is set for release on 18th November 2016 via Ubiquity Project Records.
HAWK release video for single ‘Mirror Maze’!

“…a sharply defined melodic affair…"- Clash
"...emotional..." - Stereogum
“…stunning…” - Noisey
“…simply sublime…” - The Line of Best Fit
Hawk have now released the video for their new single Mirror Maze ahead of their 2017 EP release She Knows out on 17th March 2017 via Veta Records.
The video premiered on Clash and is available to stream now on the Hawk YouTube channel.
The audio for Mirror Maze premiered on The Line of Best Fit and is available to stream now via Hawk's Soundcloud page.
She Knows covers a range of themes including inequality, exclusion and preconceptions and generalisations faced by different social groups every day. Hawk’s acute social awareness is a trait that the band hold dear but instead of unravelling these ideas into brash political punk songs, they convey their message with beauty and grace. Hawk are not a ‘political band’ but instead a group of friends using their creative talents to mirror the inequalities they witness in everyday life.
‘Take It Away’ was written as a reaction to singer Julie Hawk’s friend being followed home after a night out. Her friend was told that she “shouldn’t have been out on her own at that time” but Julie says that comments like that “miss the point and are the main cause of the problem” in that it’s not the fault of the person being followed but the man who takes away her freedom to walk back home on her own. Mirror Maze is about what society expects from us from a female perspective, which is touched upon again on a global sense in ‘Ghosts’ - we should break free from society’s standards and be comfortable in our own skin. Meanwhile, ‘Static’ shines a light on those in power who pay lip service but fail to insight real change.
Amongst the band’s supporters are Noisey, Stereogum, Clash, The Line of Best Fit and Amazing Radio, who have all commented on Hawk’s edgy emotionality. Now, with She Knows, the band are ready to defy expectations once again, soaring to new heights on this latest release.
Hawk's EP She Knows is out on 17th March 2016 via Veta Records.
