Introducing… Jailbox

St Louis three-piece Jailbox are delighted to announce the release of the beautifully introspective Idea Jar, out now via FarmerTanz Records and available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.
Idea Jar displays a unique and ethereal quality to Jailbox’ music; dreamy, sensitive vocals are elegantly lifted by simple, yet effective, guitar pieces, affecting layers of atmospheric percussion add to an already sumptuous song, brought together expertly by beguiling strings. Stream the track from the Jailbox Soundcloud page or by clicking the embed below.
Exploring themes of loss, letting go and personal reflection, Idea Jar perfectly exhibits Jailbox’ evocative, thought provoking music, which brims with emotion, carefully crafted musicianship and easily relatable lyrical content the likes of Owen, Ry X and Sufjan Stevens would be proud of.
Comprised of Andrew Tanz (vocals, keyboards, guitar, bass, percussion), Joseph Bassa (vocals, guitars, percussion) and Aaron Essner (percussion, drums) Jailbox formed in 2009 as a moniker for their home recordings which was taking place in their home state of Missouri. After going on hiatus for two years, the 2015 writing and recording of Idea Jar marked a welcome return for the band and is the start of a creative period that will see them release two singles and two videos throughout October and November.
Having supported the likes of Vetiver, Devendra Barnhart, Still Corners, Daniel Johnston and Pines as well as playing renowned venue Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown as part of Coachella, Jailbox are aiming to end 2016 on a high with with a video for Idea Jar and release of second single Whole, which is out in November, to follow.

Gallery 47 shares new video for ‘Some Of You Don’t Get It’!

“…Jeff Buckley-esque vibrato with sheer youthful exuberance…”
- Drowned in Sound
"...thoughtful and expressive..." - The Revue
Gallery 47 aka Jack Peachey has shared his new video for the heartfelt, poetic folk track Some Of You Don't Get It. The song is taken from forthcoming album Clean, set for release on 11th November 2016 via AWAL / Bad Production Records.
The video premiered on The Revue and you can watch it on Gallery 47's YouTube channel now.
The audio for Some Of You Don't Get It premiered on Folk Radio UK and you can also listen to it on Gallery 47's Soundcloud page.
Following the release of Jack’s sophomore album, All Will Be Well in 2014, Gallery 47 set off on tour with Paul Weller across Europe and signed a publishing deal with BMG Berlin shortly after. The album revolved around a badly timed break-up during a period where Jack was facing health problems, forcing him to leave his job. Since then the couple reunited and married, hence the title All Will Be Well.
Clean is Jack’s third album, which is a departure from his previous release. His latest album mirrors All Will Be Well by expressing his new found peace with songs like ‘Never Alone’ and ‘Dream Real’. Jack’s ability to reflect on personal experiences feels similar to the likes of Bob Dylan’s raw writing style mixed with Iron & Wine’s soft, bittersweet sound.
Amongst Jack’s supporters are BBC Radio 2‘s Bob Harris, BBC 6music’s Tom Robinson, BBC Radio Nottingham’s Dean Jackson, The Guardian, Drowned in Sound and Folk Radio to name a few. Gallery 47 has also supported a number of well established acts like Paul Weller, Alice Phoebe Lou, Ian McCulloch and Andrew Montgomery as well as playing on the BBC Introducing stage at T in the Park.
Gallery 47’s album Clean is out on 11th November 2016 via AWAL / Bad Production Records.

Lowla release debut EP ‘Walls’!

"Pop that is unashamed to be pop, that is plastic, fantastic, and completely in your face.” - Clash
90s loving denim-clad pop duo Lowla have released their debut EP Walls out now via DIY and is available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.
Their video for EP track Those Days Are Gone premiered on Impose Magazine and is available to watch now via Lowla's YouTube channel.
You can also watch Lowla's video for title-track 'Walls' via their YouTube channel now.
Lowla have set out to create a diverse and inspired collection of songs on their Walls EP. Their own unique brand of fun alt pop is ever present but the meaning behind the songs is a little more serious this time around with the girls focussing on relationships and the world around them but there are still some light-hearted moments in-between.
'Walls' flows with delicate harmonies, alongside grittier vocals, tribal beats and screeching riffs. Carrying topical themes of revolution and social awareness, the track is a step away from the romantic reflections of previous single 'Reckless' and sets out to look at the bigger picture. Of the track Lowla say: “‘Walls is all about the here and the now and the world that we live in. It's a very personal number for us. We truly believe in the power of people getting together and making a change.”
‘Those Days Are Gone’ is about a broken relationship and inner conflict whilst ‘Money Doesn’t Matter’ looks at the disparity between the classes - the rich becoming rich, whilst the poor struggle. However, the EP ends on a more positive note with ‘Electrified’ - the track asks us to focus on the positives in life, our relationships and the ones we love.
Meeting by chance when creative stylist Lara featured as a guest vocalist on a track that Lo was producing, Lowla was born and the pair continue to pride themselves on their musical and visually pioneering creations.
After the success of 'Reckless', Lowla aim to move forward into different territory with their latest EP and as pop artists, exploring more serious ground but with an undying love of denim. Some things never change!
Lowla’s debut EP Walls is out now via DIY is available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.
