Newtimers release video for single ‘Best Of Me’!

For fans of... Justin Bieber, Jack Garratt, Zayn

"Blissfully synthetic pop music..."- Clash

Swedish duo Newtimers have shared the new video for their forthcoming single Best Of Me - released as part of EP One on June 10th 2016 via Cosmos Music. You can preorder the EP now on iTunes.

Premiering on Clash, the video is also available to watch now via the band's YouTube channel.

You can also stream Best Of Me via the Cosmos Music Soundcloud page.

EP One is a blend of synth pop, RnB and 80s soul with the duo Andreas Britton Cavaco (vocals) and Tim Lundblad (drums, production), finally coming together as Newtimers after writing and recording music for many years under various guises for miscellaneous projects and collaborative ventures.

The tracks on the EP were written at a time when the pair were both suffering from broken hearts. “It's full of who, what, wheres and whys - seeing past, present and future,” say the band and although the songs were written under somewhat sad circumstances, there’s more hope here than melancholy.

The duo have had dalliances with various labels from indies to majors but finally as Newtimers, they’re ready to present their own brand of alt pop to the masses. Previous single Perfect Ten racked up nearly 90k plays on Spotify and the way the pair combine their influences, carving out their own unique space within the pop genre, is their biggest draw - it’s hard to pin Newtimers down and that’s a good thing.

The EP also features two remixes of Best Of Me by Monsieur Adi and Sailor & I. Critically acclaimed Monsieur Adi is known for creating the official remixes for Ellie Goulding as well as Beyonce, Bastille, Lana Del Rey and The Kooks.

Newtimers’ EP One is the perfect introduction to a band that are more than the sum of their various influences, they create modern pop that’s full of heart, soul and depth.

EP One is out on June 10th 2016 via Cosmos Music and available to preorder now on iTunes.

Right Said Fred celebrate the 25th Anniversary of ‘I’m Too Sexy’!

Right Said Fred celebrate the 25th Anniversary of their 1991 chart topping hit single I’m Too Sexy this year. To celebrate the release, brothers Fred and Richard Fairbrass are releasing a 25th Anniversary EP of I’m Too Sexy plus a brand new album via Pledge.

You can watch the classic track on the EMI YouTube channel or from the embed below.

As part of their Pledge campaign, they’re inviting fans to join them in the studio and record a new track for the album as well as an opportunity to perform on a new recording of I’m Too Sexy, both of which will be filmed. The anniversary marks an important milestone for the brother’s career - not only is this a celebration of the single but also 25 years of global success.

I’m Too Sexy spent in excess of 6 weeks at the top of the charts and then a further incredible 4-months in the UK top 10, charting at No.1 in 32 countries around the world including the US. Following this, their second single Don’t Talk Just Kiss reached number 3 in 1991 at Christmas time and number 1 on the US dance chart. It was their third single though, Deeply Dippy, that would earn them their first UK number 1 with their debut album Up landing in at the top spot as well.

In the 25 years since I’m Too Sexy’s release, the brothers have reached fans all across the globe, selling in excess of 7 million copies of Up worldwide, receiving two Ivor Novello’s for I’m Too Sexy and Deeply Dippy as well as a Brit Award nomination for Best British Act.

Fred and Richard have also played The Royal Variety Performance, met the Queen, released a track for Comic Relief (Stick It Out) and, most importantly, Richard was voted Rear of the Year by Smash Hits Magazine.

By the dawn of the noughties, the brothers showed no signs of stopping and their success continued with various chart hits around the world including their first number 1 in Japan for album Stand Up, with the single Stand Up (For The Champions) consequently used by a number of NFL teams en route to Super Bowl glory. This wasn’t their first foray with the sports world, You’re My Mate was also the official song for the South African Rugby team in 2000.

Probably one of the most hardworking and enduring duos in pop, Right Said Fred continue to appear at various special events and TV shows all over the world performing in front of 200,000 people at the 2006 World Cup opening ceremony and 300 million people for the Bollywood Awards plus guest appearances on Good Morning America, Big Brother’s Bit On The Side, The Wright Stuff, Lorraine Kelly, Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Pointless and Jamie Oliver’s Last Week Tonight.

However, after 25 years, the brothers remain true to their spirit - they don’t follow trends, they follow their instincts and have fun along the way. Doing music the ‘Right Said Fred’ way has always been the right way and their track record and continued success is testament to that. Long live Right Said Fred!

Lowla release ‘Reckless (Tom Kendall Remix)’!

For fans of... MØ, Sky Ferreira, Grimes

"Pop that is unashamed to be pop, that is plastic, fantastic, and completely in your face.” - Clash

Continuing the success of their latest single Reckless, denim clad pop duo Lowla have released a fantastic new remix by Tom Kendall out now via DIY. The original version of Reckless is also available now on iTunes.

You can stream the track now via Lowla's Soundcloud page.

The video for the original single is also available to watch on Lowla’s YouTube channel.

Reckless channels the likes of Sky Ferreira, Lapsley and Grimes but with a DIY sound that gives the single a little edge. The single celebrates the moment you leave the darkness of a break-up: “Sometimes, we get so absorbed in a love that's lost, Reckless calls for an almost violent break-up with your break-up,” the girls explain.

Heavily influenced by all things 90s, including a love for Levis denim, Lowla is the brainchild of producer Lo and creative stylist Lara. After meeting through chance when Lara appeared as a guest vocalist on a session that Lo was producing, Lo was immediately impressed and shortly after asked Lara to work on a project of their own. The partnership has obviously been a successful one with the girls praise for Reckless from Clash, Drunken Werewolf and Gigslutz.

Reckless is out now on DIY and available to buy via iTunes.

Introducing…Tetish

For fans of... The Cardigans, Jessie Ware, St. Vincent, Bat For Lashes

Tetish, the brainchild of Etan Salomon and Itai Shirtit, are set to release their debut self-titled album, out 22nd July via Solarie Records.

The duo have been active members of the local Tel-Aviv indie music scene for a number years now, both having released material while working on different projects, but it wasn’t until after the long-time friends started to play around with a few ideas towards the end of 2014 that they discovered they were able to take each other’s music to the next level. This is highlighted perfectly on the album track 'Glow', a song the band are giving away for free to celebrate the announcement of the forthcoming album release. Download the track from the Tetish Soundcloud page or from the embed below.

18 months on and the pair have achieved a dynamic sound perfectly encapsulated on their debut album, with a medley of influences from pop and rock all the way through to classical and middle eastern music, giving Tetish a deep, rich, complex and ultimately unique sound. Openers Luck and the aforementioned 'Glow' draw comparison with classic artists such as Laura Mvula as well as contemporary musicians like Jessie Ware, whereas Shipwreck explores the band’s pop/rock leanings and is a nod to influences ranging from The Cardigans to Bat For Lashes. Salomon explains “the album is about the longing for self-fulfilment, about the struggle between reality and our hopes, dreams and ideals, in life, in art and in relationships.”

Both Salomon (vocals/keyboards) and Shirtit (keyboards/vocals) are classically trained musicians which becomes apparent on the record as they showcase their skills through the quality of their musicianship and arrangements. Their sound is further enhanced by Nir Shlomo (guitars/vocals), Noam Shacham (bass/vocals) and Daniel Azta (drums/vocals) who joined from Shirtit’s previous band Kalbey Ruach and are noted for their session work with bands such as Eatlitz, Brain Candies and Lola Marsh respectively.

Tetish are intensely determined to expose the world to their sound as they attempt to reach and relate to as many people as they possibly can. It’s been a great start for the band as their demos were picked up by some of the biggest local radio stations as well as being picked up for CMW in Toronto, CMJ in New York and this summer’s WOMAD Festival here in the UK. While in the UK, they are planning to play a number of dates with details due to be announced in early summer 2016.

Tetish’s self-titled album is out via Solarie Records on 22nd July 2016.

The Duke Spirit release new album ‘KIN’ + announce European tour!

For fans of: Howling Bells, The Joy Formidable, Wolf Alice

"...lush and spongey while also swaggering along with a muscular grace." - Stereogum

"More invigorated and fired up than ever." - Gigwise

"...moving, intriguing and poetic work..." - Clash

London four-piece The Duke Spirit return with their best material to date on their fourth album KIN, out now via Red Essential. The album is available to buy on iTunes (UK/Europe only) and Pledge Music (international).

KIN is also streaming now via Stereogum.

The video for single Wounded Wing is available to watch now via The Duke Spirit's Youtube channel.

KIN features ten diverse tracks that range from shimmering alt-indie anthems to delicate songs that cut deep. Recorded by Simon Raymonde (Bella Union / Cocteau Twins), the album explores the frailty of life and the nobility that can be observed by death.

In the space between the band’s last record Bruiser (2011) and their latest offering KIN, TDS have been through a myriad of juxtaposing life changes with Luke Ford (guitar / keys) preparing for the arrival of his first born child to front woman Liela Moss’ loss of her Step Mother in the same week. Life can present unmanageable grief and incredible joy and on KIN the band take us on a journey that balances the fine line between them both.

There are many guest appearances on the album; old friend Sam Windett from Archie Bronson Outfit duets with Liela on ‘Side By Side’ along with maverick appearances from Mark Lanegan, Simon Raymonde himself and longtime TDS collaborator Terry Edwards (PJ Harvey / Gallon Drunk).

Despite the impressive list of collaborators though, KIN is all about The Duke Spirit - emoting their experiences from their hearts and souls. These ten tracks are about the way life touches us all with its brutality but also with tender love and we emerge stronger, more aware and open to the road ahead.

The band have also announced that they will be hitting the road this autumn with a European tour. Tickets for the following dates are available via the band's website (UK), Ticket Master (Germany) and FNAC (France).
