Introducing… Living Dead Girl!

Living Dead Girl are a multi-instrumental two piece band, who produce atmospheric, introspective music that has an eerie allure to it. The band’s debut single Skylines is imbued with a jet-black chilling sound, constricting the listener in its snake-like grip.
To celebrate the single's announcement, and to give you a taste of their sound, Living Dead Girl are releasing free track 'Simulaton'. You can download it for free via the band's SoundCloud page.
Skylines centres around the idea of looking at the night sky, permeated by the light of stars that have long since died. This concept of celestial ghosts resonates with a person's desire for something tangible after the loss of a loved one, something that can give us solace and comfort. Taking cues from everything from films such as It Follows, Donnie Darko and Edward Scissorhands to bands like Portishead and Massive Attack, the band have constructed an ethereal yet haunting sound. Tackling themes like escapism, fear, reflection and losing ones self, Living Dead Girl’s music is an existential journey that every single one of us can, in one way or another, identify with.
Living Dead Girl is comprised of duo Jonno Lloyd (guitar, bass, synth, programming, backing vocals) and Jessica English (lead vocals, synth, piano, programming). The pair met through an ex-girlfriend and began playing in a function band together. Despite coming from creatively different backgrounds where Jonno had cut his teeth in industrial rock bands while Jessica was part of an experimental-pop band, they found a shared love of electronica enabled their artistic interests to combine to beautiful effect. Their macabre music melds elements of electro, rock and trip-hop, creating a goth-gaze sound that wouldn’t be out of place in a Tim Burton movie.
Skylines is released via LDG Records on 16th October 2015.
Sofia B’s single ‘Soldiers’ out now!

Sofia B has released her latest single Soldiers via Montiel Records. It's available to buy digitally on iTunes.
The single was was written during an escape to New Orleans with her best friend, Avery Nejam. Both diagnosed with Crohn’s disease while together at university, they decided to share the burden and pretend, for a short while at least, that everything was fine.
Curve Magazine's website premiered the video for the single and you can watch it now via Sofia's YouTube channel.
You can also stream Soldiers on Sofia's SoundCloud page.
The atmosphere in The Big Easy had an inspiring effect on Sofia, surrounded by its creole delicacies, timeless music and amazing community spirit. She realised that, in spite of her personal problems, everyone faces their own internal battles making everybody soldiers against the challenges life presents. She found comfort in the realisation that no one has to face the fight alone, and decided to spread the message through her latest single.
Sofia sees herself first and foremost as a storyteller, using life as her inspiration and a flair for narrative that’s seen her compared to the likes of Kathleen Adams and Tegan & Sara. Soldiers is the second single from her EP In The City, which presents four illuminating slices of of Sofia’s life with stripped back pop arrangements built on folk foundations.
Sofia is also giving away free track, 'King', a Years & Years cover produced by Kandylion. A departure from her usual mellow acoustic sound, the chilled out dance track premiered on Clash Magazine's website, and you can download it for free via Sofia's SoundCloud page.
The video for her previous single, Ice Cold Love, premiered on Gigslutz who described it as "a charming, catchy offering that will lodge itself in your ears for days after listening." Watch the video now on Sofia's YouTube channel and stream the single via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

Introducing… Dead Boy Robotics!

“…like 65daysofstatic hacking at the innards of the original Dr Who theme” - The Skinny
There is an exquisite darkness in Edinburgh that is slowly rising to the surface to take over the light, seeping on to the spectrum by way of Dead Boy Robotics’ intense synth-rock sound. Their sophomore album New Cells, which is out on November 20th 2015 via Brothers Grimm, wrestles with themes of paranoia, armageddon, exploration and the self. No stone in the soul is left unturned.
You can stream 'Arrival’ and get a taste of the album via the ABoF SoundCloud page.
Following their self titled debut album in 2011, the band returned to their sanctuary to regenerate, leaving behind the laptops and broken synths that defined their first release and taking on guitar, bass and drums. They still retain that glorious mix of retro and the modern, pushing instruments to their limits in a haze of reverb and powerful riffs as vocals soar over the music like a demonic choir. This is dark pop at its best, demonstrated to full effect on tracks such as ‘Rise’, dance-floor friendly ‘Echo’, 80s inspired ‘Bathysphere’ and the slow and creeping build of album title-track ‘New Cells’.
Recorded at Tape, Edinburgh, and mastered in New York, New Cells is the mark of a band that have found their way on the dark path of electro rock, with pulsing beats reminiscent of HEALTH and Mew, but with dark undertones that bear comparison to The Horrors at their loudest.
New Cells is released digitally via Brothers Grimm on 20th November 2015. A limited edition colour vinyl will be available in 2016.
Cherri Fosphate announce debut album ‘We Didn’t Come Here To Say Goodbye’!

Cherri Fosphate have announced their forthcoming debut album We Didn’t Come Here To Say Goodbye, released via Bloc+Music on 20th November 2015.
To celebrate the announcement, the band have released album track 'Auf Wiedersehen' as a free download. The song premiered on Clash Magazine's website, who described it as "Fiery, impassioned songwriting with a gutsy vocal". You can download it for free via the ABoF SoundCloud page
Cherri Fosphate began their journey in 2012, the members joining forces with the aim of bringing the stripped back, no-frills rock and roll influences of New York’s music scene to Scotland. The Scottish four piece, comprising Jonny Sharpe (vocals & guitar), Alan Robinson (lead guitar), Jordan Lannigan (bass) and Sonny Kainth (drums), amalgamated this sound with one closer to home with the likes of Bloc Party making their mark on the band’s style. As a result, Cherri Fosphate have constructed an exquisite, lo-fi fuzz-filled record melded with the more disciplined elements of math rock, creating something truly special.
WDCHTSG is ten tracks written by a band who have honed their sound through gigging relentlessly. The band had reached their tipping point and, hungry to elevate themselves to the next level, decided to produce an album based on the ten best songs from their discography, songs that spoke to them both as people and artists. While there is no overarching theme to WDCHTSG, each track exists in its own right, with its own twists and turns, as popping bass lines and scratchy guitars teasingly interplay, knitted together by punchy yet understated vocals.
Having released their debut EP Burning Youth in 2013 to widespread acclaim, Cherri Fosphate have continued their impressive rise through the Scottish music scene by supporting Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Boxer Rebellion, Dry The River, The Crookes, Caveman and Honeyblood, as well as making festival appearances at Belladrum, Tartan Heart, GoNorth and Brew at the Bog. Now, having consistently worked hard, taking the opportunity to constantly grow as musicians and a band, they are ready to take those next steps towards breaking into the wider consciousness of UK music lovers.
We Didn’t Come Here To Say Goodbye is released via Bloc+Music on 20th November 2015.
