The Helmholtz Resonators unveil sonic eBook ‘The Mystery Of Woolley Mountain’!

For fans of: Stealing Sheep, The Beta Band, Super Furry Animals, Pink Floyd

Those renegade, psychedelic audio time travellers, The Helmholtz Resonators, are back and disrupting the space-time continuum, bringing a brand new format for experiencing music back with them from the future. It exists solely in their interactive album, The Mystery Of Woolley Mountain, released 13th April 2015 via Proving House Digital.

Watch the trailer for The Mystery Of Woolley Mountain on The Helmholtz Resonators' YouTube channel.

Time travel can play havoc with physical and digital matter, and The Mystery Of Woolley Mountain was created practically by accident. Originally planned as a 70s prog style LP, complete with cardboard gatefold with movable panels, something happened on their last jaunt through time. Their laptop, placed dangerously close to the first pressing of the record (sadly now lost forever in the ether) fused digital audio files, physical album artwork and the band’s travel journal into one single file. Where once was Vinyl, WAV, and ePub there was now only ePub, but it appeared to be exponentially larger than the origin file. They gathered around the inviting glow of the laptop screen, and gingerly opened the file.

The Helmholtz Resonators are a renegade group of psychedelic time travelling audio scientists who have been playing and writing music together since the turn of the century. They studied acoustic science and the work of Hermann Von Helmholtz, being particularly inspired by his book On the Wires of our Nerves, essential reading for anyone interested in the science of sound and sound synthesis. Heavily inspired by the ethos behind concept albums, the band have created a repertoire of songs that are as eccentric as their image, touching on influences as diverse as The Residents and The Kinks to LCD Soundsystem and Hieronymous Bosch.

The Mystery Of Woolley Mountain is released 13th April 2015 via Proving House Digital. Music from the interactive album will also be available via iTunes.

Daydream Frenzy release download track ‘Jade’s Song’!

For fans of: Twin Atlantic, Angels & Airwaves, Jimmy Eat World

“…really catchy Rock.” - Alex Baker, Kerrang! Radio

Daydream Frenzy are all set to unveil their debut album, Pride & Wonder, due for release on March 30th 2015 via Daydream Records.

To celebrate their forthcoming album's release, the band have released the explosive track 'Jade's Song' as a free download. The track premiered on Gigslutz, and you can stream and download it for free via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

You can also stream and buy single and album title track Pride & Wonder from the Daydream Frenzy BandCamp page and watch the powerful video that accompanies it on the band's YouTube channel.

The three-piece, who derive from just outside Aberdeen, have been building momentum over the last three years through their continuous live performances, which has led to a steady rise on the Scottish live scene, as well as the release of two EP’s. It’s easy to see why the band have picked up a following in such a short time with their ability to write a killer melody allied to their angsty, heartfelt lyrics and sprawling, chugging guitar pieces.

Pride & Wonder exhibits these traits and more throughout the record. From the opening gambit of instrumental leader ‘Maiori (Nuovo Inizio)’ to the impossibly catchy, and Twin Atlantic inspired, upbeat pop-punk of ‘All The World’. Then there’s the experimental electro-pop offering of ‘Rêverie’, feeding off the spirit of bands such as Prides and Foals, to acoustic track ‘Wandering Man’, which recreates the foot stomping heart emoted by the likes of Lumineers. Sonically, there is a lot going on here as Daydream Frenzy illustrate a refreshing flexibility in their songwriting and a willingness to traverse genres.

Formed in January 2010, Daydream Frenzy are made up of Donald Barclay (vocals/guitar), Hamish Gordon (drums) and Fraser Henderson (bass). In 2011 they released their debut EP Calling Stars before following this up with their second EP Colours and Sound. This helped the band announce their arrival as an up-and-comers and saw them pick up support from the likes of Kerrang! Radio, Amazing Radio, Scuzz TV, XFM, Artrocker and STV, leading to support slots with Big Country, The Maine and Don Bronco and will see them co-headline a national tour with Divides throughout March and April.

Fable releases ‘Silence Myself’ video!

For fans of: Bat For Lashes, Ladytron, Portishead, Thom Yorke

“Brooding cinematic Electronica…” - Guardian

Fable has unveiled the video for her forthcoming single Silence Myself.

The video premiered on Clash, who described it as "a dark, glistening synth pop gem". Watch it now on YouTube.

You can also stream the single via Fable's SoundCloud page.

Silence Myself was inspired by transcendental meditation. The single is about escaping the clutter of everyday life and stripping it down to bare and powerful silence. However, like all lyrically driven songs, there are a multitude of meanings that the listener can apply, and Fable’s emotive and enigmatic vocals, which bear comparison to a female Thom Yorke or a minimalist Portishead, leave things open to interpretation.

With a debut album on the horizon, as well as a host of festival dates in the Summer, Fable is set to make 2015 her own.

Silence Myself is released via 74 Music on 23rd February 2015
