India Mill album ‘Under Every Sky’ out now!

For fans of: R.E.M., Suede, Art Brut

"India Mill can stand tall amongst their peers as being
a band who have something to say."

- Artrocker

India Mill have released their outstanding debut album, Under Every Sky, via Bold Venture Music/AWAL. They’ve already picked up support from the likes of Frank Skinner on Absolute Radio, Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music, and Artrocker Magazine

Collecting a range of influences as diverse as Oasis and Pixies, India Mill have created something that not only holds true to their political ideals, but showcases the band’s ability to take complex, typically downbeat subject matters and create easy to digest foot-stomping tracks.

The video for single and album track Morning Song premiered on Artrocker, and you can watch it now via the band's YouTube channel.

You can also stream the single for free via the band's SoundCloud page and buy it digitally via iTunes.

Under Every Sky fuses both the everyday politics of modern day family life with the turmoil of witnessing Britain’s Big Society coming apart at the seams. Darwen’s neighbouring Blackburn population has a life expectancy seven years below the UK average, many of the town’s children are in care, and radical extremist politics is used to divide previously tight knit working class communities. This is India Mill’s homeland, our homeland, this is Britain in crisis, this is The Big Society broken in two…

The band are from Darwen, a former mill town in Lancashire where any kind of music can find an ear, and any form of pretence will be shown its rear. On Caribesque, the first single from the album, Artrocker commented, “They’re not afraid to mix a little bit of politics into their songs and they sound all the better for it”. while Tom Robinson claimed the track, “Sounded effin’ terrific coming through the radio speakers,” on its second BBC 6 Music spin in just six days.

Al Smith (bass & vocals), Simon Nicholson (guitar), Chris Coates (guitar) and Dean Ingham (drums) take music seriously, taking their name from the biggest landmark and biggest mill in their town where the old economy has long since faded but the scars of industrial revolution still linger. Four friends who have known each other longer than they haven’t, India Mill are a band living the old-school dream, childhood friends making their way from nowhere to somewhere, passing comment en route, chronicling Britain's Big Society as it unravels at the seams. Their penchant for genre bending has ensured the band remains impossible to pigeonhole, and their mission to create a new take on alternative rock is fast becoming their own personal badge of honour.

Under Every Sky is out now via Bold Venture Music/AWAL and available to buy digitally via iTunes.

Felix Champion album ‘This Lateral Life’ out now!

For fans of: Enter Shikari, A Day To Remember, Gallows, Alexisonfire

"...choc-full of intricate instrumentation and shifting time signatures." - 7/10 Rock Sound Magazine

"...one of the best Scottish rock albums of the year."
- The Sunday Herald

Felix Champion have released their debut album, This Lateral Life via Bloc+Music.

Originally from Fife, Scotland, the Glasgow based four-piece are delighted to be releasing their debut full length record where their own brand of elaborate, yet melodic, alt-rock can be appreciated in its entirety. With moments of technical proficiency combined with vocal harmonies galore and heavy intricate guitar pieces, Felix Champion have created a raw, pulsating, explorative sound.

To celebrate the release of the album, the band will be giving away the free track, 'Snow Graves'. You can stream and download it for free via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

The video for album track and single These Four Walls premiered on Punktastic and you can now watch it on the band's YouTube channel.

You can stream and buy single, These Four Walls via Felix Champion's BandCamp page and download album track 'Canyons' for free via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

Tracks such as the aforementioned These Four Walls characterise the band’s creative output perfectly. Guitar picking envelopes your ears at break-neck speed, as a multitude of time signatures stop and start, cajoling your body to lovingly throb with the same passion the band clearly exhibit on record. Screaming vocals are flanked by impressive on-point harmonies as the song undulates to a heavy, head banging close. There is no pause for breath throughout This Lateral Life, as the band showcase a boundless energy, and no little talent, reminiscent of bands such as Attack! Attack!, Funeral For A Friend, Gallows and Thursday. ‘Animals’ shows a poppier side to their songwriting as the emphasis shifts to a big chorus and even bigger harmonies, while closing track ‘The Lateral Life’ displays elements of math-rock akin to bands like Tera Melos, This Town Needs Guns and Oxes.

Consisting of Ross Balsillie (guitar/vocals), David Rees (guitar/vocals), Andy Brown (drums/vocals), Michael Clark (bass/vocals), Felix Champion originally formed in 2011 as a three-piece outfit. However, after collectively moving to Glasgow, the band recruited their friend David Rees in 2013 completing the final Felix Champion line-up. They quickly made a name for themselves on the Glasgow music scene with their vibrant live performances which led to a support slot with PAWS at Glasgow University’s freshers’ week as well as festival appearances at GoNorth, Wickerman and Tweedfest.

This Lateral Life is released via Bloc+Music and available to buy digitally on iTunes.

Artrocker Magazine

The video premiered on Gigslutz and you can now enjoy it in all its glory via Little Arrow's YouTube channel.

Reared in the wilds of St. Davids in Pembrokeshire, Little Arrow bottle up the spirit of their natural surroundings and transpose it into an edgy, grunge folk cocktail. Lead singer, William Hughes, describes the album as “concerning the human spirit, the pains and great joys of human relationships as we gain and lose others throughout our life. It also expresses solace, which can be found through immersion into the outside environment. But most importantly it expresses collaboration between five good friends sharing high and lows and dancing in each other’s heads.”

Introducing… HAWK!

"HAWK combine post-punk and folk in a spine-tingling brew that'll take potshots at your emotional wellbeing" - The Line of Best Fit

For fans of: Björk, Daughter, Dum Dum Girls

HAWK bid farewell to 2014 with free single Hush, one of the most emotional and passionate tracks of the year, released 8th December 2014.

The single's haunting video premiered on The Line Of Best Fit and you can now enjoy it on HAWK's YouTube channel.

HAWK are Julie Hawk (vocals & guitar), Matthew Harris (guitar), Chris Handsley (bass) and Sam Campbell (drums). The single is a precursor to their first new release of 2015 via Veta Records, the stunning EP Clock Hands.

Hush embraces the furthest reaches of light and shade of the band’s uniquely primal sonic tapestry, teasing the pain and pleasure from every resonant chord and truly living the healing power of music through every spine tingling vocal nuance.

They have been described as everything from noir-rock to alternative-folk. Based in London, Julie, Matt, Chris, and Sam hail from various corners of the UK and Ireland. Their sound was described by Subba Cultcha as a "fusion of ambience and power" fronted by a "soaring, crackling vocal". Irish-born lead singer Julie Hawk initially embarked on a solo folk career, and began collaborating with Matt in 2012. After a year on the acoustic circuit, the pair gained support from the likes of Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson. The fledgling duo then joined Sam and Chris to form the band you hear now, adding a new abrasive edge to their sound while retaining the delicacy of their acoustic roots.

Hush is released 8th December via HAWK’s official website.
