Scary People announce second EP ‘Chicago!’

Scary People are pleased to announce the release of their second EP, Chicago!, due for release via RedRoom Recordings on 7th April 2014.

Hot on the heels of their debut EP Smoke, Scary People demonstrate from start to finish their raw, take no prisoners brand of rock and roll with the intense opening title track ‘Chicago!’ leading a glorious assault on your speakers.

Download title track 'Chicago!' for free via the band's SoundCloud page.

If Smoke showcased a band that were honing and developing their sound, then Chicago! takes that sound and confidently pulverises you until you are begging for more.
Scary People are a powerhouse of technical prowess, with tunes that force you to intently listen, with few moments of quiet reflection - each track ups the ante until explosive closing track ‘Crush The Bug’ as it culminates in a shower of pure, unadulterated foot-stomping noise.

Born from the partnership between two tour technicians, Scary People had only one week to form a band and rehearse a set before their first gig at a sold out show in Dundee. Rising to the task, Dan Forouhar (guitar/vocals) and Scott Anderson (drums) called upon close friends, Steven Anderson (guitar/vocals), Jamie Brown (bass) and Troy Lynch (guitar), to join them to prepare for a show that would immediately gain them an impressive crowd response and, since then, a dedicated following.

Having recorded and produced both EPs independently, Scary People maintain their fiercely independent and strictly DIY ethic towards all of their creative outlets; including promoting their own shows, directing their own videos and printing their merchandise by hand. They’ve already gained outstanding coverage from the likes of Artrocker Magazine, BBC Introducing and a UK Artist Of The Week feature on the US website The Vinyl District, as well as performing live with the likes of The Cribs.

Chicago! is due for release on 7th April 2014 via RedRoom Recordings.

IndianRedLopez release acoustic track ‘Silence/Vacuum’

For fans of: Mew, Radiohead, Massive Attack, LCD Soundsystem.

“... a force to be reckoned with.” -
Q Magazine

IndianRedLopez today release an exclusive acoustic version of the album track 'Silence/Vacuum', taken from their second full-length record, Commit, due for release on 17th March 2014 via Cease:Stop Records.

The track was recorded in the band's own bunker studio in Aberdeen and again highlights their versatility and undoubted talent. The acoustic version of 'Silence/Vacuum' is available to download for free when pre-ordering the forthcoming album 'Commit' via the official IndianRedLopez website, which also includes ticket details for the band's up-and-coming UK and European tour.

Stream the exclusive acoustic version of 'Silence/Vacuum' on the official IndianRedLopez SoundCloud Page or from the embed below.

This comes hot on the heels of the recent download and video of the exquisite ' No Longer Dying' which has seen IndianRedlopez build momentum towards the release date of March 17th. To celebrate the anticipated launch, IndianRedLopez will be holding a playback party on February 27th at six°north, details of which can be found here.

The latest album follows up on the band's excellent debut album, Empty Your Lungs And Breathe, which gained support form the likes of Rock Sound, Drowned in Sound, The Skinny, The 405 and Artrocker and saw the band named Best Electronic Act at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards.

Despite this excellent coverage, Commit immediately evokes feelings of a band who have grown leaps and bounds since their debut album. This record offers an endless depth - a depth which showcases the work of a band who are firmly coming into their element. The opening track ‘Any Given City’ kicks proceedings off, emoting heartfelt lyrics, beautiful harmonies and synth soundscapes that dreamily envelope the listener. The album undulates through various genres as Giorgio Moroder and Talk Talk style 80’s synth-pop meets shoegaze stalwarts such as Mew and Spiritualized. The bands ability to play with, and blend genres so seamlessly, is no more apparent on tracks like ‘No Longer Dying’ - lead singer Mike’s echoing vocals are flanked by samples, unabated keys and synths and a driven, piercing drumbeat.

Commit was self-recorded in the band's aforementioned bunker studio in Aberdeen and at a cottage in the idyllic surroundings of Loch Fyne in Scotland. To promote the release, IndianRedLopez aim to stage a variety of pop-up style events, collaborative art events and listening parties, as well as embarking on a tour of the UK and Europe with dates in Holland and Belgium lined up.

The Aberdeen based band, consisting of Mike Chang (lead vocals, guitar, keys, samplers), Dave Cherry (backing vocals, guitar, synth/keys), Darren Forsyth (backing vocals, bass, synth/keys), Danny Forsyth (backing vocals, guitars, bass, samples, synth) and Scott Maskame (drums, samples, percussion), are part of the Aberdeen arts group 26 Collective, who share creative space, ideas and energy in the Aberdeen cultural community. Their DIY ethic is upheld in every facet of their creative output - from running their own club night (SHMEET) and their own label Cease:Stop Records, to tour booking, recording and artwork. This has led to singer Mike designing the artwork for Stanley Odd’s album Reject, banner art for the music blog Glasgow PodcArt as well as working with local label Fat Hippy Records.

Commit by IndianRedLopez is released March 17th 2014 via Cease:Stop Records.

Fat Goth return with “One Hundred Percent Suave”!

For fans of… Mike Patton, The Jesus Lizard, Melvins, Mclusky

"You'll be none the wiser by the end of it all, but much richer for stumbling in to Fat Goth's odd little universe."
- Kerrang! Magazine

Fat Goth return with their third album, One Hundred Percent Suave, set for release on 12th May 2014 via Hefty Dafty. Following on from where their last album Stud left us, One Hundred Percent Suave explores the theme of sex and its pros and cons but, in the band’s trademark tongue-in-cheek, uncompromising style.

Kerrang! have already got their hands on album track “Sweet Mister Scary”, which they streamed exclusively on their website yesterday.

You can download the track for free via Kerrang's SoundCloud page.

"Sweet Mister Scary" is also available via Fat Goth's Official SoundCloud page.

“If Stud is the overweight, unhygienic, eye contact-avoiding weirdo sitting in darkest corners of the nightclub, One Hundred Percent Suave is the pilled-up, pint-downing, football-chanting nightmare throwing it down on the dance floor and bothering all the females in his general vicinity,” explains frontman Fraser Stewart. “Regardless, the overwhelming self-loathing and bottomless depression are traits both characters share in equal measure.” Despite Fraser’s natural self-deprecating tone, One Hundred Percent Suave is a massive man-sized slab of fun, unadulterated rock that captures Mike Patton’s crooner moments (‘*disclaimer’, ‘Caligynephobia), Queens of the Stone Age and The Jesus Lizard’s signature tight rhythm section (‘Sweet Mister Scary’) and hectic, heart-stopping riffs (‘Class A’). In fact, The Jesus Lizard’s David Yow created the artwork for One Hundred Percent Suave. The band’s dark, twisted, snarling underbelly emerges as the album progresses though, especially on tracks like ‘Lower Pleasance’ and the climactic ‘The Stevie Nicks Method’.

The last few years have seen the Dundee based three piece successfully rise from local underdogs to rock fan favourites appealing to all the losers, freaks, weirdos out there looking for proper meaty, ball hair raising rock. Recently, they’ve found themselves the subject of Kerrang’s legendary Pandora strip twice, featured in the magazine and received stellar reviews. Rock Sound, Terrorizer, Q, Metal Hammer, Artrocker and Drowned in Sound are also amongst those who’ve highlighted the band’s humorous, brazen style. This flurry of praise led them to be nominated for a Scottish Alternative Music Award in 2013 (and again this year) and grace the stages of many a UK festival (T in the Park’s BBC Introducing Stage, Arctangent, Belladrum, Go North, Wickerman) and act as main support to Torche and the legendary NoMeansNo.

Despite their success, Fraser, Kevin and Mark are happy just to continue to create music that pleases them, and knowing there are people out there that ‘get’ them - “three chums with a shared enthusiasm for interesting and entertaining rock music,” as Fraser puts it. Scratch a little deeper though and they’d say that “Mark is the relentless careerist, Kevin is the eternal teenager and only Fraser knows where the bodies are buried.” Three incredibly talented odd bods from Dundee - what’s not to love?

One Hundred Percent Suave is released on 12th May 2014 via Hefty Dafty with support from Creative Scotland.

Digital album promos are available for writers and editors to review. If you'd like more information on Fat Goth or our PR services, please email info@abadgeoffriendship.com.

Copper Lungs release single: ‘Lost Without You’

Copper Lungs release single: 'Lost Without You'

For fans of... Two Door Cinema Club, Taking Back Sunday, Phoenix

Copper Lungs are delighted to announce the release of their single Lost Without You, taken from their self-titled EP which is out on April 25th 2014 via Thin Hippo Records.

The track further enhances the band's credentials as one of the up-and-coming pop/rock acts emerging from the Scottish music scene. Singer Darren Lindsay's vocals shine and are aided admirably by bandmates at the top of their game, as harmonies soar and a driven, infectious drum beat grips hold of the listener.

The video for single Lost Without You is available to watch below and embed via the band's YouTube page.

You can stream the single on Copper Lung's official SoundCloud page.

The forthcoming EP sees the band’s sound evolve even further as they enter the next phase of their musical development, with an intensity that can only be attained through experience. Lock four people together in a tour bus for long enough, and they'll either kill each other or gain enough perspective to create something that's truly remarkable. In this case Copper Lungs have achieved the latter.

Copper Lungs wastes no time building up momentum - the explosive opening track "Lego" showcases a band working together seamlessly, like a well oiled machine, as they create a definitive wall of sound. The band maintains this intensity with second track, "How Long", before the EP winds down, as Darren's vocals take centre stage. Backed by the band's sweeping and epic melodies, it's safe to say that Copper Lungs have spent the time since their debut album honing their sound, using their experiences on the road and in the studio to create a mature and accomplished release.

Consisting of Darren Lindsay (vocals/guitar), John Cargill (guitar/vox), Jamie Mayes (bass/keys) and Sean Crossan (drums), Copper Lungs were formed in 2011 in Dundee. Drawing on influences such as Two Door Cinema Club and Phoenix, the band have produced their own powerful blend of melodic harmonized vocally-driven pop rock, a sound that should see them attract a diverse fan base.
With an EP tour in the works that will see Copper Lungs playing their very first English dates and the release of the forthcoming EP, we're sure 2014 has plenty in store for the Dundee four piece.

Copper Lungs is released April 25th 2014 via Thin Hippo Records.
