The View announce a third ABC Glasgow tour date!

Earlier this year, The View celebrated the 10th anniversary of their debut album Hats Off To The Buskers with a 10th anniversary limited edition vinyl being released for Record Store Day. To book end another successful year, the Scottish indie four-piece announced a number of UK tour dates.

With demand soaring to see The View live for the last time before the band take a temporary hiatus, an additional date has now been added to the tour. To add to two previously confirmed dates at Glasgow's ABC, they have now announced that they will be playing the prestigious venue for a third date on Tuesday 28th November 2017. Tickets are on sale now and available to buy here.

The tour coincides with The View’s classic Face For The Radio appearing on streaming services for the first time, and a special 7” coloured vinyl of the single being released on Walk Tall Recordings. Serving as a temporary farewell to fans, the dates will be the last for at least a year whilst the band take some time off to pursue their own individual projects, and gain inspiration for their future releases.

Hats Off To The Buskers was originally released via 1965 Records on 22nd January 2007 and hit the number one spot in the UK charts on 28th January 2007, leading to a Mercury Prize nomination that year. The album rode the tail end of the wave left by The Libertines but injected the band’s unique, upbeat observational indie rock filtered through a Scottish perspective, with frontman Kyle Falconer’s signature Dundee accent.

Since the release of their debut, the band have gone on to release five albums in total, 2015’s Ropewalk being their most recent release, produced but The StrokesAlbert Hammond Jr. and Gus Oberg. The band have been praised for their trademark indie rock style that has matured through their last five releases but has never succumbed to music’s ever changing fashion trends.

4th October 2017 La Belle Angele - Edinburgh - Tickets
6th October 2017 Warehouse - Falkirk - Tickets
7th October 2017 Neighbourhood Festival - Tickets

Best Girl Athlete’s self-titled sophomore album is out!

"... heart-stopping."
- The Skinny

"…groove-riddled folk-pop...”
- The Line Of Best Fit

"... assured artistry..."
- Clash

"...a stunning piece of cinematic drama..."
- The Revue

For fans of... Lana Del Rey, Emmy the Great, Laura Marling, Lucy Rose

Katie Buchan - aka Best Girl Athlete is delighted to announce her self-titled sophomore album Best Girl Athlete, out now via Fitlike Records and available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.

Her burgeoning reputation as one of the most talented young singer songwriters around has been consolidated on a record packed full of eclectic, emotionally charged songs. Best Girl Athlete's most recent single, 'Baby Come Home', is a fusion of soulful melodies, and Katie’s assured vocal, juxtaposed with the fast-paced rap of Jack Hughes. The track premiered on The Skinny. The song is now available to stream on the Best Girl Athlete Soundcloud page.

'Baby Come Home' followed the previously released single 'In Your Head', which premiered on The Revue ,and is also available to stream and download from Best Girl Athlete's Soundcloud page now.

Having written the album prior to reaching the age of eighteen alongside her musician father, Charley, Katie continues to establish herself as a mature singer-songwriter with a creative vision that, not only surpasses expectations but, confirms the young musician as a prominent and original talent, justifying her host of admirers including Richard Hawley and Simone Felice.

A collection of songs each telling a story that connects with the individual, Best Girl Athlete combines an eclectic range of influences bridging pop with elements of folk, electronic and Americana, while Katie draws on themes of melancholia, abandonment and fear laced with a message of resilience and hope for the future. Best Girl Athlete’s diverse sound is encapsulated on tracks ranging from the Mark Ronson-esque horns of the aforementioned 'In Your Head' and the dark, swaying Americana of Vetiver on ‘Sometimes’ to the electronic soundscapes that ooze on the anti-establishment themed ‘In The Morning’, while forthcoming single 'Lucy', due for release later in October, soars with uplifting strings, offering a brand of cinematic pop reminiscent of Lana Del Rey.

Best Girl Athlete has been born out of the non-conventional manner in which many people now consume music; collecting individual offerings, rather than whole albums. Consequently, each song stands alone as a single offering with lyrically intriguing, musically accomplished depth appealing to audiences from across the board.

By the age of sixteen, Katie Buchan had already toured the U.S and Europe and released an album that was nominated for a Scottish Alternative Music Award. Carve Every Word was named the second best Scottish album of 2015 by Ravechild and received acclaim from the likes of The Line of Best Fit, Clash Magazine, Folk Radio, Artrocker, The Sunday Herald and BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway and Roddy Hart. With the release of her self-titled sophomore album, Katie’s innovative sound is sure to propel her even further forward into the minds of the music loving public.

Best Girl Athlete, the eponymous new self-titled album, is out now via Fitlike Records and available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.

- The List

Having already received critical acclaim as part of Edinburgh-based dream pop band Collar Up, musician Stephen McLaren has now released his new solo album We Used To Go Raving, out now via Errant Media. Is it available to stream on Spotify and buy on iTunes now.

SEYD returns with her latest ethereal, alt-pop single Another World, out now via Born Good and available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.

Eleanor created SEYD eighteen months ago in her hometown Bewdley, Worcestershire. She then entered the studio with collaborator and producer De Wilde (BMG), and together they began to craft SEYD’s unique brand of alt-pop. The Nickajack Men release new single ‘Can’t Take It Anymore’!

For fans of... The Districts, Deer Tick, Cold War Kids, Dawes

"...think Alabama Shakes with a Scottish soul." - The List

"Pulse-racing Americana..." - Tenement TV

"...a perfect blend of bass, shakers, and twangy-toned guitars..." - Impose Magazine

Glaswegian quintet The Nickajack Men have returned with their captivating new single Can’t Take It Anymore, out now via NJM Recordings and is available to stream on Spotify.

The single premiered on Tenement TV and can now be streamed on The Nickajack Men Soundcloud page.

A reflective yet uptempo track, Can’t Take It Anymore flows with delicate, folk-inspired melodies that soon build to a raw, emotion-strewn climax. Filled with the gritty, soulful vocals of frontman Lewis White, it’s an anthemic slice of Americana- tinged alt-rock. Of the track, the band explain: “It’s a song about struggling to deal with a lot of issues going on. Being stuck feeling like you have no real direction in what you’re actually doing day to day. It’s good to have an outlet like music where we can put our depressing thoughts across in a weird semi-happy sounding song.”

Having formed in 2014, the quartet have been building their name on the Scottish live circuit for the past few years. A sold out show at King Tuts was followed by the ‘Best Newcomers’ 2015, ’Best Single’ and ‘Best Alternative/Indie Band’ 2016 at the Alternative Music in Falkirk Awards. They have also received support from the likes of Team Rock, Songwriting Magazine and Americana UK and are looking forward to supporting The View on their upcoming tour.

Can’t Take It Anymore, the new single from The Nickajack Men, is out now via NJM Recordings and is available to stream on Spotify.
