Jeffrey Lewis & The Junkyard: Ticket Information

A sunny Monday in London - at last - and just in time for Jeffrey Lewis & The Junkyard before they hit London tomorrow. The guys are over from NYC to play a few dates here before they jet off to China and then back again to Brighton.

Tomorrow they are due to play The Lexington. The show sold out in a matter of weeks but despite this we've been receiving lots of pleading emails asking for tickets and whether we can reserve any for those wishing to come. Unfortunately, we can't reserve tickets for people. There will be 5 tickets (yes, that's 5!) on the door tomorrow priced at £11.

Tickets on the door are on a "first come first served" basis and we cannot reserve anyones name on a centralised list. If you would like to buy a ticket, just be sure to turn up early! Doors are at 7.30pm but because this is a sold out show and there will be high demand we suggest you get there a little earlier.

Our very own Esperi will be the only support for this show. Esperi release The EP today and will be onstage around 8.30pm.

An interview with Jeffrey Lewis is up now on the ABoF blog.

If you've any questions about the show (no more emails about tickets though please!) or our PR services, please email info@abadgeoffriendship.com.

Esperi EP reviewed by Songs Heard On Fast Trains.

Esperi is busy this friday making the final touches to his set ahead of his support slot at Jeffrey Lewis & The Junkyard's show at The Lexington next Tuesday. We hope he manages to find a couple of minutes to read the latest review for his upcoming EP.

"This EP is far from just being a collection of pre-released and now hard to find gems – it’s a little beacon of light in dark times." - Songs Heard On Fast Trains

Songs Heard On Fast Trains are clearly already big fans of Esperi, and they were very impressed with his latest release, as it collected some of their favourite tracks into one amazing EP. Be sure to check out the full review.

You can listen to EP track My Tear Dissolved The View on the ABoF SoundCloud page.

Introducing… The Shaking Sensations!

Copenhagen post-rockers, The Shaking Sensations, initially formed to escape the confines of their small, desolate and windy town in western Denmark. Little did they know, that in doing so, the five-piece would build a reputation that would see them join a group of up-and-coming post-rock bands following in the footsteps of heavyweights like Mogwai and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Having released their 2010 debut EP, This Is Your Hellfire Region, the band experienced a sharp rise to prominence in Denmark due to the simple melodies that would lead the listener on a tranquil, dream like journey before culminating in a beautiful, often deafening chaos.

Debut album, East of Youth, encapsulates everything that is good about an over populated genre with tracks like “Our Hearts Were Young and Gay” featuring heart-wrenching guitar work throughout which, while sparse, conjures up a variety of reflective emotions. This is in stark contrast to album closer, “Homage to Boyhood”, which really defines the bands heavier side. The track also showcases why the band have opted for two drummers perfectly, both rhythmically and in terms of the sheer wall of sound they manage to create.

The Shaking Sensations have been touring extensively in both Denmark and Germany, sharing a stage with bands such as Caspian, Russian Circles, And So I Watch You From Afar and Gifts From Enola. With the release of East of Youth, The Shaking Sensations aim to make inroads within the UK music scene, and by adding a new energy and a much needed boost of reckless abandon, they will be a worthy addition to these shores.

East Of Youth will be released via Pad & Pen Records on September 12th 2011.
