They have already made a name for themselves in their home country, having been supported by the likes of Nialler9, The Irish Times and The Last Mixed Tape to name but a few.
Now, ready to unveil their ethereal sounds to the rest of the UK and beyond, Hvmmingbyrd’s new single Gozo is out on 4th August 2017.
HVMM’s single ‘Beggars And Thieves / Going Postal’ out now!
"...a ferocious blast of thundering
blues rock with a spine of steel."
- Classic Rock
"... a distinct, inspired swagger..."
- Gigslutz
Worcester’s apoplectic rockers HVMM are about to unleash their debut EP Talk To Me like I’m Dead on 1st September 2017 via ILA. It is available to pre-order now.
The band have revealed the next single to be released from the EP, as part of a double a-side single, is the raucous Beggars And Thieves, which premiered on Pure Grain Audio and is also available to stream via the band's Soundcloud page now.
Previous single Going Postal premiered on Classic Rock and is also available to stream via the HVMM Soundcloud page now.
The EP kicks off with their ferocious previous single Lacerate, HVMM combine blues rock influences with eerie bass lines and melodic riffs to create something truly powerful. Lead singer Andy Teece’s sharp, distinctive vocal steals the show, sounding akin to the likes of Jack White or Rage Against the Machine’s Zach De La Rocha. Double a-side single Beggars And Thieves / Going Postal continue the band’s anachronistic and subversive themes with Beggars And Thieves slamming head first into unapologetic, heavy-laced rock and Going Postal’s impressively slick vocals from lead guitarist Ebony Clay complimenting Andy’s charged sound perfectly.
“Try limiting any preconceived ideas when listening to the tracks and enjoy them for what they may or may not be to you,” Andy explains and goes on to say, “or choose to get suckered in by some standard marketing bullshit to help lead you down the road like a two-year-old, needing constant guidance when learning to use a knife and fork”.
Having met as a result of an unexplained scuffle in a county pub, Andy and Sam Jenkins (drums) formed the band in 2015. Andy and Ebony then went on to meet as a result of Ebony approaching him in his favourite coffee shop and after a caffeine- induced conversation followed by alcohol, Ebony found herself in the band. Ebony then called upon her old friend Jack Timmis (bass) and the line up was complete. Although the band are still new to the scene, their irrepressible and unforgettable presence on the live circuit, which is epitomised by their relentless energy, has seen them become the first British act signed to US label ILA.
With Talk To Me Like I’m Dead there are no fucks given and HVMM are ready to share their raucous, terrifying sound with the rest of the world.
HVMM have also announced they will be playing their first headline show at London's Sebright Arms on 22nd November 2017. You can also catch the band live at the following dates:
2nd August - Robin 2 - Wolverhampton - Tickets
5th August - The Iron Road - Evesham - Tickets
2nd September - EP Launch - Marrs Bar - Worcester

Gallery 47 shares new track ‘Mr Baudelaire’!
“…a soothing piece of melancholia
that dwells on mature, rounded
themes.” - Clash
“…Jeff Buckley-esque vibrato with sheer youthful exuberance…”
- Drowned in Sound
Since the release of his critically acclaimed album Clean, alt-folk songwriter Gallery 47 aka Jack Peachey has been preparing to share his colourfully political follow up album, Adversity Breeds. This second album, as part of a trilogy, will be out on 22nd September 2017 via AWAL / Bad Production Records.
The cinematic video for Mr Baudelaire premiered on Songwriting Magazine and is also available to watch on Gallery 47's YouTube channel.
Talking about the video, Jack says "Mr Baudelaire is one of my oldest songs and a personal favourite. I wrote it at a time when a relentless schedule of live shows on the emerging Nottingham scene left me without a voice in 2012. I became very upset and believed that my musical career was over before it had begun. I remember feeling the lowest I’ve felt, and I became quite bitter at the idea of all these musicians tearing themselves apart in this desperate rat race. I wasn’t particularly stable, and I’m much more mellow nowadays, but this song was my resistance piece against an industry which, at the time, I blamed for leaving me broken and useless.”
The track is also available to stream via Jack's Soundcloud page.
Jack explains “if Clean was the romantic album, Adversity Breeds is the divorce”. Influenced by a holiday row between Peachey and some family members who commented negatively on today’s youth, Jack combines real life events and fiction to create a captivating blend of upbeat, sentimental and bittersweet tracks. Each track on the album offers something poignant and different. Whether its the lighthearted nature of ‘Analytical & Open’ or the dark, brooding songwriting of ‘In Odessa’, Peachey continues to create soft, wistful tales of melancholy that are highly relatable. Jack maintains his signature soft, vibrato throughout whilst effortlessly blending his intricate guitar plucking and storytelling charm echoing Bob Dylan’s raw, colloquial writing style.
Gallery 47 originally formed ten years ago as a six-piece band in Loughborough. Once the band went their separate ways, Jack decided to continue as a solo artist under the same name, becoming a regular on the live circuit in Nottingham and currently in his new home of South East London. Jack called upon a number of the same musicians who performed on Clean to play on Adversity Breeds, introducing a sense of familiarity to the latter, entwined with layers of texture and emotion throughout.
Amongst Jack’s supporters are BBC Radio 2‘s Bob Harris, BBC 6music’s Tom Robinson, The Guardian, Drowned in Sound, Clash and Folk Radio to name a few. Gallery 47 has also supported a number of well established acts like Paul Weller, Alice Phoebe Loe, Ian McCulloch and Andrew Montgomery as well as playing on the BBC Introducing stage at T in the Park.
With Adversity Breeds, Jack tackles the subject of standing up for a good cause whilst being rejected by those closest to you. A subject that is possibly at its most relatable now more than ever.
Adversity Breeds by Gallery 47 is due for release on 22nd September 2017 via Bad Production Records.
Rainbrother announce new single + UK tour dates!
"... sun-soaked, dream-folk..."
- Mahogany
"...endearing, touching and memorable...” - Drowned In Sound
"“...a real treat - pastoral, poetic, and idiosyncratic.” - Clash
Rainbrother are back with another majestic, dream-folk single, Fat Eggs out on 4th August 2017 via General Bird Records. To coincide with the release, the band will also be playing a number of UK tour dates.
The video for Fat Eggs premiered on Mahogany and is available to watch from Rainbrother's YouTube channel now.
The video consists of one long shot and was filmed on a subtropical afternoon in Copenhagen, thanks to global warming. After the session the band had to take a week's break from eating eggs and pickled cucumber.
Frontman Bjarke Bendtsen explains “Fat Eggs is a song about giving into late night temptations, lusts, desires and the beauty of being human. The song is also about not caring too much and eating fat eggs when they're on your plate and still hot”. The single, taken from Rainbrother’s debut album Tales From The Drought, feels instantly intriguing with its use of beautiful, spiralling out of key guitars and flawless harmonies.
The single is also available to stream now via the band's Soundcloud page.
Rainbrother was formed after Bjarke eventually found his way back to Copenhagen. While touring with The Migrant in Europe, he performed with a group of fellow Danish musicians and after moving back to his home turf, Rainbrother was born. Tales From The Drought was produced by Noah Georgeson (The Strokes, Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart) whose flickering elements have been spun into the group’s tight rock sound making the album both an earthy and elevating affair.
Rainbrother has already received praise from numerous well-regarded publications including Clash Magazine, The 405, Americana UK, Folk Radio as well as BBC 6music’s Steve Lamacq to name but a few. They also recently played SXSW festival where Bjarke found himself in difficult situation as US immigration officials refused to approve his visa after deciding he needed a second interview. As a result, the band played their first gig in Austin with Bjarke still on his living room couch in Copenhagen. Not wanting to let Trump win, the band played the rest of their parts with a pre-recorded projection of Bjarke behind them not missing a single beat and creating a truly unforgettable performance.
Catch Rainbrother live at the following dates:
31st July 2017 - Paper Dress Vintage, London - Tickets
2nd August 2017 - The Lamb - Surbiton
4th - 6th August - Wilderness Festival - Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire - Tickets
Fat Eggs is out on 4th August 2017 via General Bird Records. It is taken from Rainbrother's latest album Tales From the Drought, out now and available to buy via Bandcamp and stream on Spotify.
Two Penny Blue release new single ‘Lament’!
"... an utterly charming and endearingly uplifting slice of folk-rock." - Gigslutz
"... a mesmerising soundscape..." - Fame Magazine
Following their last single Gypsy, London-based trio Two Penny Blue are back with another catchy and colourful track, Lament, out now and available to stream via Spotify and buy on
iTunes.
Lament premiered on Folk Radio UK and is available to stream via the band's Soundcloud page now.
With the smooth, luscious vocals of Tommy Gathers, sweeping emotion-strewn harmonies and a rich musicality, Lament is a twinkling slice of folk-rock oozing a grand romanticism and soaring sense of joy. Though reflecting on the grim prospect of death, the band’s playful lyricism encourages us to accept its finality and just take life as it comes. As Gathers elaborates: “... it's trying to glorify the Atheist perspective of life and death, preaching to sit back, drink champagne and just be happy you were alive.”
Having formed in London, Two Penny Blue have kept to a ruthless live schedule and have already started to build a reputation for their quirky, crowd-pleasing live performances. Throughout all their music there is a great message, not of great political or worldly problems, but something philosophical and profound. Now, with the lilting bliss of Lament, they intend to continue charming the ears of listeners far and wide.
Lament, the new single from Two Penny Blue, is out now and available to stream via Spotify and buy on
iTunes.
