The White Road single comes on the back of their recent excellent release, Dead Air, which led Artrocker to describe them as "genuine contenders for being one of the best underground electro bands out there at the moment...".

Listen to The Juniper Leaf on Glasgow Podcart!

With modern psyche-folk four-piece Juniper Leaf releasing their debut album, Broom, Briars, Torches From The Fire on 7th June, the ever lovely Glasgow Podcart have been kind enough to play the track "Left Outside The Loop" on their latest episode!

You can download this episode HERE.

The track is a perfect illustration of the bands multi layered sound which is encapsulated on the up-coming debut album.

The album was recorded at Toybox Studios with Ali Chant, who has recently worked with John Parish and PJ Harvey. Each track is a well-crafted, earthy tale transporting you to an era long past. The album title itself conjures-up images of fallen maidens, witches and peasants hypnotically dancing, chanting and frolicking around a crackling fire. However, tracks like “Automatic” and “Who Knows Where” immediately leap you forward to a trippier 60s / 70s guitar-influenced era that give the album more depth and prove Juniper Leaf are no one-trick pony.

New Tango in the Attic Album Coming Soon!

Scotland’s answer to Vampire Weekend, without the smugness that the New Yorkers seem to have acquired of late…” – No. 35 in Artrocker’s Top 100 Records of the Year (2009)

Scottish five-piece, Tango in the Attic, have been causing mini waves of joy. The boys’ live shows have gained them quite a stellar reputation in recent times. Summer 2009 saw the lads play to a crammed tent full of bouncing festival goers at T In The Park and they’ll be back again for this year’s TITP stint.

In a short space of time, Tango have established themselves as one of the freshest, most exciting bands in Scotland, especially with their most recent release, single Seven Second Stare. The band managed to beat the likes of bands such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, claiming a solid no. 35 spot in Artrocker.com’s Records of the Year for 2009.

…slightly angular, almost chatty indie which rolls along on cutely raw basslines before exploding into an amiable chorus...” – Seven Second Stare single review, Drowned in Sound

Their influences are plucked from the best pop, avant-garde and east coast garage music from the last forty-years. The boys cite Paul Simon as one of their song-writing heroes along with avant-indie pioneers The Velvet Underground. Their debut album Bank Place Locomotive Society conveys the band’s sense of tongue-in-cheek fun and melodic sensibilities, which make the perfect soundtrack to the summer.

Altercarnated Photography Review The Unkindness of Ravens Live @ The Purple Turtle!

Our very own Electro-Rocking rockers, The Unkindness of Ravens, have received a glowing live review from Altercarnated Photography from their recent performance at The Purple Turtle:

The Unkindness of Ravens – A two piece Alternative/Rock band compromising of just a vocalist and a bass player with a backing track. The vocalist was very theatrical on stage with her movement and had some great harmonies with the bass player on backing vocals.
They made their way through their set, which seemed tight and well rehearsed.A great band & well worth the travel, id recommend seeing them live! 7.5/10

The band will releasing their brand new single White Road on June 7th 2010. This is on the back of their recent excellent release, Dead Air, which led Artrocker to describe them as "genuine contenders for being one of the best underground electro bands out there at the moment...".

Great Juniper Leaf Review on Extreme Listening Mode!

Modern psyche-folk four-piece Juniper Leaf release their debut album, Broom, Briars, Torches From The Fire on 7th June, and have received a great review on the website Extreme Listening Mode!

"Anyone who has heard the dramatically sweet chord changes of solo-Syd Barret and swooned will find much to like here. Their debut album Brooms, Briars, Torches from the Fire is packed with pyschedelic-pop gems." Extreme Listening Mode

You can read the full review HERE.

The band formed when Chikinki frontman, Rupert Browne, met drummer George Bradley at a party in Stoke Newington in 2007. The pair were soon joined by Chikinki’s Boris Exton and, then Vanessa Marlowe. The foursome blends together their love of German 70s guitar rock, folk and their love of bands like Incredible String Band and Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd to create something truly captivating and magical.
