Fuzzystar announces new single ‘Telegraphing’!

"...off kilter indie pop laden with

dream-like fuzz."

- Clash

"...infectious, reverb-strewn hooks..." - Gigslutz

For fans of... Mark Kozelek, Sun Kil Moon, The Cribs

Edinburgh based artist Andy Thomson - aka Fuzzystar - has revealed the next single to be taken from his forthcoming album, out on 28th April 2017, will be the title track Telegraphing.

The single premiered on Clash and is now available to stream via Fuzzystar's Soundcloud page.

Telegraphing flows with a rich narrative alongside scuzzy melodies and uptempo indie-rock beats. The album is full of catchy riffs akin to The Cribs but with the endearing emotion strewn delicacy of Sun Kil Moon. From the catchy hooks of Angel Transported to the twinkling melodies of emotive ballad ‘Telegraphing’, and the reflective and honest sense of fragility oozing from ‘High Friends’, the new album from Fuzzystar is sure to capture the hearts of many in no time.

Referring to the album’s title, Thomson explains that the songs are about a “mix of love, loss miscommunication, feelings of alienation or being disconnected. Telegraphing to communicate and also indicating something you may not already be aware of yourself, like the physical metaphor for it, often referred to in boxing.”

Andy Thomson has been playing solo and in various line-ups as Fuzzystar for years; starting in Edinburgh, with a stint in London, before returning to Scotland. The band name comes from an appreciation of the bands Big Star and Mazzy Star. Now, Fuzzystar is made up revolving cast of whoever is available at the time, hence the name - a star which looks like one star but is made of lots of other stars.

Catch Fuzzystar live at the following dates:

21st April - The Betsey Trotwood, London - Tickets
4th May - The Hug & Pint, Glasgow - Tickets
6th May - Sneaky Pete's, Edinburgh - Tickets

Fuzzystar's forthcoming album Telegraphing is out on 28th April 2017 via Satellite Sounds.

Fat Goth announce new album ‘Enorme!’!

For fans of... Mike Patton, NoMeansNo, Mclusky

"...sick shit..." - 8/10, Rock Sound Magazine

"fat goth are 101 percent messed-up."
- Kerrang! Magazine

"If it doesn’t leave you feeling grimy by its conclusion, I have no interest in traipsing through your internet history..."
- The Line Of Best Fit

After exploding onto the scene four albums ago, Fat Goth's fast paced Mike Patton style brand of wonky alt-rock made quite an impression, particularly with second album Stud (2013) and their third offering One Hundred Percent Suave (2014). Shortly after, the Scottish three-piece took a break from the heady heights of fame and (mis)fortune retiring from the Dundee ‘high life’ after the press storm to regroup. The result is their fourth album Enorme! due for release on May 5th 2017 via Hefty Dafty Records.

Taken from the album is riotous new track 'Guestbook', which premiered on Clash but it's available to stream now on Fat Goth's Soundcloud Page or download it for free via the band's Bandcamp page.

Enorme! is not short on meaty riffs, head-bobbing, balls out rock and a tight rhythm section that has become Fat Goth’s signature sound. However, the boys have turned their backs on the tongue-in-cheek themes conveyed in their last three albums, where they explored the feeling of being the outsiders, the awkward unfashionable don’t-give-a-shit outcasts that were expert at delivering huge, heavy music with sinister humour.

Frontman, vocalist and guitarist Fraser Stewart describes Enorme! as their “angriest” effort yet, as Fat Goth’s ire has turned to the political and social cluster fuck we currently all find ourselves in. “We live in a world where sociopolitical discourse, injustice and prejudices are rife and appear to increase on a daily basis, resulting in such dire circumstances becoming ‘the norm’ and subsequent headlines being met with continual indifference and fatigue,” Stewart explains. “Thanks to social media, we all have a platform where we can spout our outrage and condemn the things we see as wrong, but when everyone is doing the exact same and simply preaching to their respective choirs, there is no debate, no engagement and ultimately no resolve. We fight amongst ourselves allowing hatred and ignorance to cloud our judgement while those responsible continue to fly high and way out of reach of significant scrutiny and accountability. Thematically this is what Enorme! attempts to illustrate.” The anger, frustration and rage is contained within 30-minutes of fast-paced, high-octane rock.

Rock Sound, Kerrang!, Q, The Line of Best Fit, Terrorizer, Louder Than War, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio Scotland, Drowned In Sound, The Skinny, The List and many more of the band’s previous supporters should be happy to see the band return with their uncompromising sound and a more focussed outlook.

Enorme! is out May 5th 2017 via Hefty Dafty Records.

The Chairman releases new single ‘Animate’!

For fans of... Honne, Shy Girls, Aquilo, Bon Iver

“...a lucid, engrossing, and highly

personal piece of work."
- Clash

"... an emboldening exercising exorcism of elation..." - Gigslutz

Originally starting out as a bedroom project by singer songwriter Lucas Berner, The Chairman has grown into something exponentially bigger than even Lucas could have imagined. Now, The Chairman has released his new single Animate via Danish Music Entertainment (DK).

The video for Animate premiered on Clash and is available to watch on YouTube.

You can also stream Animate via the DME Soundcloud page.

The Chairman has built up an impressive amount of recognition in his native Denmark having released the critically acclaimed debut album 2064. A huge amount of national airplay followed and, as a result, The Chairman’s music has seeped into the creative consciousness of the country. Lucas found writing music as a cathartic release from the chains of anxiety and depression, using the outlet to develop both on a personal and creative level. The result of this process is an emotive, deeply personal sound that anyone dealing with modern life, and the many obstacles we have to overcome, can relate to.

What marks The Chairman out from many of his contemporaries, such as Honne and Shy Girls, is his rich, soulful vocal range; a mature singing voice combining seamlessly with the slow, incessant beat and atmospheric, yet intimate, synth soundscapes, the depth and warmth enveloping you as you listen. Animate is a perfect example of what The Chairman has to offer and has the ability to resonate with a youthful, contemporary audience as well as seasoned music lovers.

Written exclusively by Lucas with the aid of producers Mathias Bang Madsen and Jakob Løkkegaard, Animate is the first track to be released from forthcoming album The Strange Life. Aiming for a busy 2017, The Chairman will follow Animate with the release of a second single in April before unveiling his second album after the summer’s festival season.

Animate by The Chairman is out now via Danish Music Entertainment (DK) and is available to stream on Spotify or buy from iTunes.

EMILIE shares ethereal video for ‘Never Enough’!

"...moody, poignant pop

beats with crystal clear vocals..."

- The Skinny

"...some of the tightest songwriting I’ve heard for a while..."
- Crack In The Road

For fans of... BANKS, Låpsley, Broods, St. Lucia

To celebrate the release of her latest single Never Enough, electro pop singer-songwriter EMILIE, aka Emily Atkinson, has shared a stunning video to accompany the single.

The video premiered on Northern Transmissions and is also available to watch on EMILIE's YouTube channel now.

The single originally premiered on Crack In The Road and is also available to stream on EMILIE's Soundcloud page.

Never Enough is an intricate piece of electronica effortlessly blending EMILIE’s smooth, soaring vocals with the track’s multi-layered pop beats, brilliantly creating a moody alternative pop sound for a contemporary audience. The single tackles themes of greed that exist in today's world resulting in a loss in the value of what truly is important to us. Never Enough instantly generates a keen sense of atmosphere, as EMILIE expertly combines a storytelling charm with soothing melodies, creating a sound that could be compared favourably to the likes of Låpsley and BANKS.

Despite her tender years, EMILIE has an unerring ability to produce impressively crafted compositions, performing vocals and synths on all of her songs, while enlisting the skills of drummer Steve Morrison (percussion, sampling). EMILIE’s previous single Eyes For You received critical acclaim from a slew of respected online and print publications with support coming from the likes of The Line of Best Fit, The Skinny, The Scotsman and Songwriting Magazine. In the past year she has also become a regular on the Scottish live circuit, supporting SG Lewis
and Be Charlotte in Glasgow, as well as performing at a sold out show for her debut EP launch.

Never Enough is out now via Depot Records. It is available to buy via iTunes or stream on Spotify.

If you'd like more information about EMILIE or our PR services, please email info@abadgeoffriendship.com.
