Introducing… Hannah Epperson!

For fans of... Sylvan Esso, Julia Holter, Emily Wells, Grouper

“...evocative lyrics and whimsical

vocals...”

- Bandcamp Daily

Canadian artist Hannah Epperson prepares to captivate listeners with the release of her eagerly awaited album Slowdown, out on 16th February 2018 via Listen Collective. This is the second half of a two-piece project with first half, album Upsweep, being released in October 2016.

Taken from the album is track 40 Numbers, which you can watch on Hannah's YouTube channel and stream on Spotify now.

On Slowdown, there are two distinct versions of each piece – one extremely reduced and minimalist (Iris), the other a crystal clear pop interpretation (Amelia). Each tracks has the incredible ability to completely submerge the listener, surrounding them with haunting, visceral soundscapes and Epperson’s evocative lyrics and whimsical vocals. Armed with her violin and loop pedal, Epperson combines dream folk, synth-pop, classical and jazz influences to create something both elegant and brave, sitting somewhere between the inventive sounds of Julia Holter and Sylvan Esso.

In Epperson’s universe, the names Iris and Amelia represent two fictional characters whose opposing worlds come together to form the likewise fictional character of a narcissistic and alienated young man with a severe and (potentially) life-threatening obsession. Iris and Amelia stand in clear contrast with each other. The lyrics transport that oscillation between the two characters and merge the real and the surreal, the finite and the infinite. These rich conceptual dimensions throughout the album show further evidence of Epperson’s incredible songwriting and story telling abilities.

Epperson grew up in Vancouver where she is also a successful ultimate frisbee player for Canada’s national team. She has a profound political and social consciousness, regularly exposing gender inequalities and destroying prevalent notions of feminity. Epperson has already received praise from the likes of Bandcamp Daily and Indie Shuffle to name but a few. With Slowdown, Hannah Epperson hopes to immerse listeners further with genre-defying, passionate musicianship.

Hannah Epperson will be on tour in Europe over the next few months, which includes two London dates listed below. A full list of tour dates can be found via Hannah's website:

Thursday, 1st March 2018 - Shoreditch Town Hall, London (supporting RY X) - Sold Out
Tuesday, 10th April 2018 - Servant Jazz Quarters, London - Tickets

Slowdown is out on 16th February 2018 via Listen Collective.

Chapterhouse Announces Two Exciting Titles For Free Comic Book Day!

Chapterhouse Publishing is proud to announce two exciting titles available for Free Comic Book Day on Saturday May 5th 2018Invasion and Die Kitty Die: “I Love You To Death”.

Invasion is Chapterhouse’s first major event, taking place in the pages of Captain Canuck Season Four throughout the summer of 2018 and bringing together heroes of the Chapterverse – Fantomah,
Freelance,
PItiful Human-Lizard, Northguard, Agents Of P.A.C.T and Fallen Suns – against the threat of alien race, the Borealis.

Having observed Earth from afar, the Borealis arrive to pass judgement on humankind – a failure, too dangerous to be allowed to live. However, despite our flaws, Captain Canuck and the heroes of the Chapterverse still believe humans are worth saving. This action-packed Chapterverse crossover event will also look back at the story of the Chapterverse so far, so new readers are not left out of the action.

"I've been counting the days to Invasion since we released Captain Canuck on Free Comic Book Day in 2015,” says Chapterhouse founder Fadi Hakim. “Having the story come full circle for Free Comic Book Day 2018 is simply the best thing ever!”

Chapterhouse’s Free Comic Book Invasion prologue features the debut of the Captain Canuck Season Four writing team – Jay Baruchel and Van Jensen (Green Lantern Corps, The Flash). Leonard Kirk (Batman, Supergirl, JSA, X-Factor) provides the artwork plus a cover by John Gallagher (Riverdale, Supergirl, The Flash).

"This is big, blockbuster, summer entertainment,” Baruchel explains. “It's got monsters, superheroes, space ships, big explosions, and Donald Trump being subjugated by aliens - pretty much all you could ask for in a comic book. Exciting stuff that's going to take heads off."

The second title available to fans on FCBD will be Die Kitty Die: "I Love You To Death". The critically acclaimed Die Kitty Die series is headed by Harvey and Archie Comics veterans Dan Parent and Fernando Ruiz.

“I Love You To Death” follows the shocking conclusion to Die Kitty Die: Hollywood Or Bust, after news of Kitty Ravencraft’s demise sent shockwaves throughout the entire Kittyverse.

Over at Kitty Comix, sneaky, opportunistic publisher Skip Stone is delighted to finally have the death of his main character that he always wanted to exploit, but Kitty’s real friends at the Comix Corner comic shop aren’t sharing in his delight. Just when they thought their Free Comic Book Day couldn’t
get any worse, Kitty’s ex-husband Derek the Warlock arrives in search of answers and decides to go directly to the source – to Kitty’s disembodied spirit!

When she rejects his unholy help, Derek decides to show Kitty what life WITHOUT him would be like by zapping her into one Free Comic Book Day comic book after another!

Dante unveil new single ‘Song’!

For fans of... The National, Idlewild, Frightened Rabbit

"... powerful, brooding songwriting..."

- Clash

"... a storming band, phenomenal energy, great songwriting..."
- Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music

"... blends anthemic guitars with rich lyrics and folk elements..."
- The Skinny

Following their full-length debut Wake, Scottish collective Dante are back with a brand new album. I Wear Your Weight With Mine is out on 9th March 2018 via Stitch Records.

Taken from the album, new single Song premiered on The Skinny and you can listen to it now via the band's Soundcloud page.

You can also watch the brand new video for Song via the band's YouTube channel now.

I Wear Your Weight With Mine, the band's sophomore LP, was produced/mixed by Frightened Rabbit’s Andy Monaghan, and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Nirvana’s Nevermind). Inspired by the relationships we build over the course of our lives, I Wear Your Weight With Mine is a sophisticated and lyrically rich collection, primarily focused on what the band feel is important in life as we grow older. Of the album, founder Seán McLaughlin explains:

“It is a hugely positive album… How positive it is to have strong ties to other people, but how much of a responsibility this can feel at times. It’s about connection, when disconnection seems like an easier option.”

From the delicate musicality, folk-tinged melodies, and traditional storytelling charm of album opener ‘Beachcomber’, to the gritty, angst-driven edge of ‘Detachment Souvenir’, it’s a collection steeped in refreshing honesty and musical maturity. As shades of gentle romanticism appear in the twinkling, uplifting melodies and luscious harmonies on the likes of ‘Rose’ and ‘Alarm’, one cannot help but be reminded of The National’s later work, whilst elsewhere there’s strong elements of more traditional folk music. As the album closes with the lullaby-like heartfelt emotion of ‘Wolves’, it’s clear that Dante have succeeded in creating a collection filled with a charm and subtle anthemic power, that’ll resonate with anyone who’s faced some of life’s challenges.

Having worked with Idlewild's Rod Jones, Seán McLaughlin shows a care and attention to songwriting on I Wear Your Weight With Mine. Already seeing support from the likes of Clash, Artrocker Magazine, BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson and BBC Radio Scotland, the band look set to continue this success with their latest stirring, folk-influenced fusion with a contemporary edge. With artwork courtesy of Tracy Maurice (Arcade Fire's Funeral and Neon Bible), and an accompanying collection of short stories written by Stephen Thom being released alongside the album.

I Wear Your Weight With Mine is out on 9th March 2018 via Stitch Records.
