Rag Foundation release video for ‘Keep The Lights Low’

For fans of: The Decembrists, Noah & The Whale, Bombay Bicycle Club

Rag Foundation have released the video for single, Keep The Lights Low. The track is taken from their fourth album, The Sparrow & The Thief, released 29th June 2015 via Rhondda Street Studio Recordings.

The video premiered on Folk Radio UK and you can watch it now via the band's YouTube channel.

You can also stream the band's previous single Run via the ABoF SoundCloud page and watch the video that accompanies the track on the band'sYouTube channel.

The Sparrow & The Thief is a narrative tour de force, with singles Run and Keep The Lights Low showcasing their ability to create sumptuous vocal harmonies interlaced with intricate indie folk compositions which bear comparison to the likes of Noah & The Whale and The Decembrists with elements of Fleetwood Mac. The band’s folk background is evident throughout, but shines brightest on tracks such as
‘Sparrow Song’ and ‘Freedom is a Stranger’.

The band have always been fascinated by the dark stories behind certain songs - murder, betrayal, infidelity - essentially all the good things in life. With The Sparrow & The Thief they’ve produced a folk tinged collection of tales that they’re keen for listeners to explore.

Rag Foundation are Neil Woolard (vocals), Richard Cowell (guitar & vocals), Daniel Kilbride (bass & vocals), Kate Ronconi (fiddle, banjo, keys & vocals) and Huw Rees (percussion & vocals), five people brought together by their working class, traditional roots. Based in Swansea, the band are as comfortable performing traditional welsh songs written centuries ago as they are writing contemporary, alternative folk that explores the darker side of humanity.

Rag Foundation will be spending the rest of 2015 touring the UK, spreading their music as far as they can.

The Sparrow & The Thief is released 29th June 2015 via Rhondda Street Studio Recordings. Run is available to buy now via iTunes.

CARALIS releases download track ‘Be Automatic’!

"Effortlessly pieced together" - Clash

For fans of: Caribou, LCD Soundsystem, Thom Yorke

CARALIS has released the downloadable track Be Automatic via Captoerra Records.

The follow up to their striking debut, Clicks In, which received support from the likes of XFM’s John Kennedy and Clash Magazine, Be Automatic is an atmospheric tour de force, with intense beats and synthesisers providing the perfect vehicle for Dan Frau’s evocative vocals. There’s an emotional quality to the track that is reminiscent of New Order at their very best, whilst maintaining the cutting edge sound of the modern.

You can stream and download the track for free via the CARALIS SoundCloud page.

The video for Be Automatic premiered on GigSlutz and you can watch it now on YouTube.

You can also stream and download previous single Cicks In for free on the CARALIS SoundCloud page and watch the video that premiered on Clash Magazine's website on YouTube.

CARALIS is the brainchild of former Anison front man Dan Frau, who began writing and creating music for his solo project after the band split in late 2014. Collaborating with producer and friend John Merriman, the pair have produced an industrial and, at times, psychedelic sound akin to acts like Caribou and Thom Yorke.

Creatively, CARALIS is a sonic departure for singer Dan having fronted alt-rock band Anison for a number of years. The band, who were signed to Spectra Records, were known for their alternative guitar sound and garnered support from the likes of XFM and BBC 6 Music. However, Dan has shown his creative dexterity, transitioning between alt rock and electro genres effortlessly.

Be Automatic is released via Captoerra Records.
