Introducing… Nûrnbear!
“Flamboyant, politically charged
pop...” – Clash
Blending politically charged lyrics with an upbeat, flamboyant pop sensibility, Danish alternative-pop band Nûrnbear are preparing to announce themselves to a UK audience through the release of their catchy single Isolation, out now via We Are Suburban and available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.
Isolation premiered on Clash is now available to stream on Nûrnbear's' Soundcloud page.
Tackling themes of seclusion and the dehumanisation of modern human beings, Isolation is a call to an entire generation to revive core human values and to participate as one in making a change for the better. On Isolation, Nûrnbear juxtapose the weighty subject matter with a blissfully uplifting synth-pop gem that gets better with every listen. Playful yet edgy, Isolation is smattered with heart thumping beats and a memorable chorus expertly delivered by the charismatic lead Emil Wahlberg.
Having been associated with known Danish acts such as The Chairman and The Awesome Welles, Emil Wahlberg formed Nûrnbear in 2016. With the addition of Christian Tranberg (beats), Mads Siggaard (synthesizer) and Rune Christensen (bass) Nûrnbear began to write energetically playful tracks that would begin to resonate with a new generation of music lovers. Now, having made their live debut at Denmark’s Spot Festival 2017 Nûrnbear are looking to reach a whole new audience here in the UK and beyond.

Also taken from the EP, blissful single Leave It To Fate premiered on The Line Of Best Fit and is available to listen to via Emily's Soundcloud page now.
A bewitching collection of tracks juxtaposing an ethereal splendour with driving electronics, The Witching Hour is a reflection on the magic of the everyday and of being human. It is inspired by a trip to South America and draws on the empowering feeling of freedom when travelling. EP opener and title track ‘The Witching Hour’ focuses on the power of feminine energy. Written after reading a book about the witch trials, Emily explains “it’s a song about claiming your own power deep from within you”. It soars with the rich passion of Magpie’s smooth, distinctive vocals alongside glitchy, pulsating beats. Leave It To Fate showcases the impassioned beauty of her songwriting, as dreamy ukulele melodies flow alongside Emily’s celestial vocals akin to the likes of This Is The Kit or Maggie Rogers’ sparkling charm. Folk-influenced 'Angel Face’ and ‘When We Find It’ are interwoven with sweeping electronic soundscapes to conclude a truly captivating collection.
Whilst travelling in South America last year, Emily enjoyed chance encounters with people such as Grammy and MTV Award winning artist Diego Ubierna (Adammo) who inspired her unique, otherworldly sound. Now, having already received acclaim from the likes of The Line Of Best Fit, DIY Magazine and Clash, and charmed crowds at Green Man Festival and Sofar Sounds, she has worked alongside co-producer Anuj Robin to create The Witching Hour and hopes to continue to enchant listeners with her mystical creations.
Catch Emily live, supporting Sticks, at The Finsbury on 18th December 2017.

Steal The City share new video for ‘Manufactured’!
“... a defiant statement of intent...”
- Upset Magazine
“…a consistent, driving energy.”
- IDIOTEQ
Steal The City return with their energising new single, Manufactured, out now via Redemption / Dharma Records and available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.
The video premiered on Upset Magazine and you can also watch it via the band's YouTube channel.
The single is also available to stream on the band's Soundcloud page now.
The band define Manufactured as their “call to arms track”. It’s a fast paced, guitar driven thriller that always gets the crowd moving during a live set. Guided by passionate vocals and an abundance of all things heavy, the track is designed to increase adrenaline, making it instantly addictive. The single is a rollercoaster ride of emotion, sounding akin to the likes of Silverstein and Rise Against’s ability to create unapologetic, anthemic rock.
Steal The City describe the track as a “fuck you song to the people who try and manipulate or convince you to do what everyone else is doing. Its about saying no to following a basic path or being ‘Manufactured' into something you don't want to be. Every so often we come across someone who tells us we can't do something because it won't pay very well or you should just settle down, go to college, get a degree and work yourself through life.”
The band have already received praise from the likes of The Vinyl District, IDIOTEQ and Dead Press and have spent the last few years building a reputation for their ferocious live sets. With memorable performances at Tramlines Festival and O2 Academy Sheffield already under their belt, the quartet are ready to unleash their riotous sound on the rest of the UK and beyond.
Catch Steal The City live on the following dates:
8th December 2017 - Woolpack Live - Doncaster
17th December 2017 - West Street Live - Sheffield
15th February 2018 - Record Junkie - Sheffield
