We Came From Wolves release video for ‘Am I Useful?’

For fans of: Biffy Clyro, Kids In Glass Houses, Twin Atlantic

“Feels, hooks and more feels”
- Rock Sound

We Came From Wolves have released the video for forthcoming single, Am I Useful?, out 30th March 2015 via Saraseto Records.

The video premiered on Rock Sound and you can watch it now via the band's YouTube channel.

You can also stream the single via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

“'Am I Useful?' is about the doubts that creep into my head in direct conflict with my aspirations," explains frontman Kyle James Burgess. "Anyone trying to pursue a life doing what they love faces these fears, that the goal might never be achieved, and a more “ordinary” life may await…it’s facing up to those fears and earnestly asking myself the question of “what use would I have if not creating?”

The band's catchy melodies and huge hooks are written with a sensitivity and passion that is We Came From Wolves’ signature sound - it’s not hard to imagine these boys playing in front of massive crowds in years to come - fans chanting along, hooked on every word.

Am I Useful? is released 30th March 2015 and is taken from the band's self titled debut album due for release 1st June 2015 via Saraseto Records.

Charlie Barnes releases video for ‘Sing To God’!

“Truly promising…” - Drowned in Sound

"...music that moves you in ways you didn't even know was possible..." - Gigwise

For fans of: Oceansize, Radiohead, Muse

Charlie Barnes has released the video for 'Sing to God', a track taken from his debut album More Stately Mansions released via Superball Music on 11th May 2015.

The video premiered on Gigwise and you can now watch it via Superball Music's YouTube channel.

“We wanted to keep it really simple, as we've never done a video before and some of our favourite music videos are just straight up performances." explains Charlie. "The most important part of it was to get a genuinely beautiful venue close to home, and in Leeds they don't get much more stunning than Left Bank.
Using a church-turned-artspace for a video with God in the title wasn't intentional as such, but I do enjoy the fact that both the song and its video were recorded in former places of worship! Our friends Ben and Benjamin blagged us some theatre lights, and long-time van companion Ryan Pearce kindly pointed his camera at us 30 odd times while we threw ourselves around all day. It was a super intense, but we're so pleased with how it's come out.
Oh, and 50 points for anybody who can find the hidden chambered nautilus design from the album cover...!”

'Sing To God' is also available to stream via the Superball Music SoundCloud page.

Although this is Charlie Barnes, it’s not a solo project, Charlie Barnes is very much a band in every sense of the word. Musical inspirations range from Edith Piaf to St Vincent to Mew and it’s this rich tapestry of influences that have given More Stately Mansions diverse sound ranging from sweeping melodies and crescendoing vocals (“Sing To God”) to quieter, more introspective moments (“Balloons”, “Ghosts”) and joyous moments of pure alt rock (“Macbeth, Macbeth, Macbeth”). It’s this explorative sound that sets Charlie apart from the array of bland singer songwriters currently on the scene.

The album was produced by Steve Durose of Oceansize. The band are all massive fans of Oceansize which is prevalent from their precise musicianship and the more cerebral elements of the album.

Drowned in Sound and Prog Magazine have already noted Charlie’s talent and he’s already supported bands like Secret Chiefs 3 and opened for Vessels and The Twilight Sad as a solo artist.

To help promote the album, Charlie was also asked by Leeds based coffee roastery North Star to create his own signature blend. He spent a lot of his early twenties playing solo in coffee houses around the UK and Europe, whilst working part-time making coffee back home in Leeds and it seems to have paid off.

You can catch Charlie Barnes live at the following dates as he tours the UK and Germany:

3rd April – Bumper - Liverpool
8th April – Barfly - London
11th April - Fox & Newt - Leeds
13th April - Oporto (solo show) - Leeds
14th April - Star and Garter (solo show) - Manchester
3rd May – Handmade Festival - Leicester
12th May – Brudenell Games Room (Album Launch) - Leeds
13th May – Eagle Inn (supporting Vennart) - Manchester
23rd May – Way Back When Festival - Dortmund, Germany
24th May - Maifeld Derby - Mannheim, Germany

More Stately Mansions is bold and elegant, proving that Charlie Barnes is a strong contender for one of the most exciting new acts of 2015 - a true, rare talent.

The Capture Effect’s EP ‘Frequencies’ is out now!

"… sinister guitars and eerie sound clips." - Magnet Magazine

For fans of: The Rapture, Test Icicles, Liars

The Capture Effect's debut EP Frequencies is out now via Free Radio and available to buy on iTunes.

The video for EP track 'Lies and False Signals', which charts the emotional end of a relationship and oozes impassioned vocals and soaring guitars, premiered on GigSlutz and you can now watch it via the band's YouTube channel.

You can also stream and download the track for free from the ABoF SoundCloud page.

You can also download a second EP track, 'London's Burning', which documents the 2011 phone hacking scandal spliced with news reports and break neck drum beats, for free from the ABoF SoundCloud page.

On Frequencies, the London based five-piece have created intense rock music, spliced with electro-synth sound waves, bridged neatly by a compelling narrative told through provocative lyrical content. Each track tells an individual story as the band touch on myriad of topical subjects, both unique to the individual and to society as a whole.

Featuring Iain Littlemore (guitar, vocals), Adam Parr (guitar, keyboard, backing vocals), Andy Malliff (bass, samples, backing vocals), Adam Smith (keyboards, synth, guitar, backing vocals) and Stuart Roberts (drums), the band formed in summer 2014 after an extensive writing period together. Inspired by a shared love of Nirvana, Bloc Party, Biffy Clyro, The Clash and all things David Fincher, The Capture Effect set about writing music that built upon these influences while maintaining a sound very much their own. Indeed their name and the idea of incorporating news reports and samples in their songs came about after an amp picked up a live radio broadcast during rehearsal. The phenomenon is known as ‘The Capture Effect’ and the rest, as they say, is history.

Frequencies is released via Free Radio and available to buy on iTunes.

CARALIS release debut single ‘Clicks In’!

"Effortlessly pieced together" - Clash

For fans of: Caribou, LCD Soundsystem, Thom Yorke

CARALIS have released their debut single Clicks In via Captoerra Records, which is available to buy now via iTunes.

The video that accompanies the single premiered on Clash Magazine's website and you can watch it now via the band's YouTube channel.

To celebrate the single's release, CARALIS also released a free track - a remix of the single by SOLLUS that strips back the track to its bare bones, allowing the vocals to shine while riding a wave of atmospheric and minimalist electronica. You can stream and download the 'Clicks In - SOLLUS remix' for free via the CARALIS SoundCloud page.

You can also stream the original single's radio edit via CARALIS' SoundCloud page.

CARALIS is the brainchild of former Anison front man Dan Frau, who began writing and creating music for his solo project after the band split in late 2014. Collaborating with producer and friend John Merriman, the pair have produced an industrial and, at times, psychedelic sound akin to acts like Caribou and Thom Yorke.

The single was recorded in just one day at John’s Crown Lane studio. Dan set about layering several drum tracks before adding atmospheric keys and vocals while John pieced together loops and samples, creating what would become Clicks In.

Creatively, CARALIS is a sonic departure for singer Dan having fronted alt-rock band Anison for a number of years. The band, who were signed to Spectra Records, were known for their alternative guitar sound and garnered support from the likes of XFM and BBC 6 Music. However, Dan has shown his creative dexterity, transitioning between alt rock and electro genres effortlessly.

Clicks In is released via Captoerra Records and available to buy on iTunes.

We Are The City release download track ‘Friends Hurt’!

"We recommend cranking the volume up,.. and absorbing the wonders within."- The Line Of Best Fit

"We're a little bit in love." - Gigwise

For fans of: Mew, The Flaming Lips, Maps & Atlases

We Are The City have released 'Friends Hurt', a downloadable track taken from their debut album, Violent, released via Sinnbus on 27th April 2015.

'Friends Hurt' received an exclusive UK Premiere from Gigwise who declared themselves "a little bit in love" with the band's distinctive sound. You can stream and download the track for free from the Sinnbus SoundCloud page.

The band are also ecstatic to announce that The Line Of Best Fit, who previously premiered We Are The City's video for stunning album track 'King David', are hosting an exclusive track-by-track visual stream of the band's forthcoming album, Violent.

You can also watch the videos that accompany album tracks 'Friend's Hurt' and 'King David' via the band's YouTube channel.

The Canadian three piece say their name comes from 'the imagery of a city being a sort of beacon from a distance. A mark to reach'. With these ten tracks, you feel like you’re reaching ever closer.

The band’s influences range from Mew to Bowie and, while this can be heard in their quirky, off-kilter time signatures and whimsical melodies, their sound is very much their own. ‘Bottom of the Lake’ is Band of Horses meets Menomena but in a dream. Single King David and track ‘I Am, Are You?’ combines the kookiness of The Flaming Lips and the off beat melodies of Mew whilst ‘Friends Hurt’ explores the idea of ‘loud and quiet’ with an intricate build up which leads to a wonderful synth led cacophony of noise.

We Are The City have already made a name for themselves in Canada; meeting in high school, they quickly formed a band, recorded an album, toured and amassed a large fan base. Honing their sound within the contemporary indie genre, guitarist David Menzel eventually left the band briefly but their journey didn’t end here, the road was merely altered. The remaining members - Cayne McKenzie and Andrew Huculiak, recorded an EP and toured once more, accruing an even larger fan base and upon David’s return, the three finished their album Violent in a place they lovingly called ‘The Magic House’. It was the perfect creative environment, but they would be the last residents of the fabled house, as it was torn down shortly after. The finishing touches were added by Tom Dobrzanski (Said The Whale, The Zolas, Hey Ocean) who produced and recorded the album with the band in Vancouver’s Monarch Studios.

On Violent, the band explore wild and exciting soundscapes. Their innovative sound scales sonic peaks, and descends into canyons before rising back up. The further you venture into their world, the more the view of their city unfolds revealing a beacon in the far distance. A signal, if you will, from far way. This is We Are The City.

Violent is released via Sinnbus on 27th April 2015.
