Introducing… Haunted Stereo

Haunted Stereo are an alt-folk/ indie/ experimental six-piece line-up from Southampton.

Creating intricate layers of sound with an array of melodic instruments – including banjo, mandolin, accordion, piano, violin, electric guitar and percussion -, Haunted Stereo are very much about the thrills and fun that is to be had from writing and playing music together.

The band have supported numerous critically acclaimed acts such as Rough Trade protégés The Veils, folk-hero Johnny Flynn, neo-orchestral cult act The Irrepressibles and American jazz swing act Hot Club of Cowtown, as well as pop gems Thomas Tantrum and Micachu and The Shapes. But the group are also very much embedded in the local Southampton scene, frequently playing for nights such as Ejector Seat and Long Live Rock'n'Roll. As of Autumn 2009, Haunted Stereo became a member of the Sotones Records family. The band earned critical acclaim, most notably being chosen as a Track of the Day by Q Magazine (online).

It’s so lovely when you discover something genuinely beautiful.” – Q Magazine

Since their inception in 2007, the band has released three EPs. In Bars (November 2008) and Tree House (March 2009) have featured on XFM, BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 1. In November 2009, they released their third EP, Cross the Sea on Sotones. 2009 also saw Haunted Stereo feature on the Wears the Trousers Mag’s tribute compilation to Odetta with an energetic interpretation of “Santy Anno”.

Now, with a body of great records behind them, Haunted Stereo are ready to release double A-side On A Pin / Lock the Doors. The single truly captures the beauty and intricate sound that Haunted Stereo have honed so well and, more importantly, reflect a band that are ready to make their mark on the UK music scene.
