Felix Champion single ‘These Four Walls’ out now!

Felix Champion have released These Four Walls, a single taken from their forthcoming album This Lateral Life.
The video for These Four Walls premiered on Punktastic and you can now watch it on the band's YouTube channel or via the embed below.
The single characterises the band’s creative output perfectly. Guitar picking envelopes your ears at break-neck speed, as a multitude of time signatures stop and start, cajoling your body to lovingly throb with the same passion the band clearly exhibit on record. Screaming vocals are flanked by impressive on-point harmonies as the song undulates to a heavy, head banging close.
You can stream and buy the single via Felix Champion's BandCamp page or via the embed below.
Felix Champion also released a free download of album track 'Canyons' which you can download and stream via the ABoF SoundCloud page.
Originally from Fife, Scotland, the Glasgow based four-piece are delighted to be releasing their debut full length record where their own brand of elaborate, yet melodic, alt-rock can be appreciated in its entirety. With moments of technical proficiency combined with vocal harmonies galore and heavy intricate guitar pieces, Felix Champion have created a raw, pulsating, explorative sound.
To support the release of This Lateral Life, Felix Champion will embark on a UK tour at the beginning of November, culminating with an official launch of the album taking place at Bar Bloc on 22nd November, before heading off to Europe in March 2015.

The Helmholtz Resonators return with single ‘Automaton’!

"…ones to keep an eye out for in the future."
- The Vinyl District
The Helmholtz Resonators have returned with their new single, Automaton, released 24th November 2014 via Genepool Records.
Did you ever buy a new gadget that was so nifty you wanted to make a song and dance about it? Well, The Helmholtz Resonators have done exactly that. Built from a Walkman, some "odds and sods" and more than a little ingenuity, the eccentric musician/scientists have procured a robot to help with their chores and provide entertainment during the long winter evenings. This charming droid has had such an impact on their lives that it has inspired their best work to date, their latest single. Sounding like a cross between Tom Tom Club, Metronomy and the Human League, the mechanical marvel has been entertaining everybody it meets.
The Helmholtz Resonators are keeping the official video for Automaton hidden up their sleeves at the moment, but you can watch the official audio video for the track on their YouTube channel or via the embed below.
The Helmholtz Resonators are a renegade group of psychedelic time travelling audio scientists who have been playing and writing music together since the turn of the century. They studied acoustic science and the work of Hermann Von Helmholtz, being particularly inspired by his book On the Wires of our Nerves, essential reading for anyone interested in the science of sound and sound synthesis. Heavily inspired by the ethos behind concept albums, the band have created a repertoire of songs that are as eccentric as their image, touching on influences as diverse as The Residents and The Kinks to LCD Soundsystem and Hieronymous Bosch.
Previous single, Sunshine/Shadow picked up support from the likes of Artrocker Magazine, BBC Radio’s Steve Lamacq and Gary Crowley, and The Vinyl District, and with an album in the pipeline for 2015 (and nothing but time on their hands given their new robotic housekeeper) we’re sure to be hearing a lot more from these eccentric musical scientists.
Automaton is released 24th November via Genepool Records.
Little Arrow album ‘Furious Finite’ out now!

"...one of the most interesting releases we've heard this year."
Artrocker Magazine
Little Arrow have released their third album Furious Finite via Bubblewrap Collective. If you'd like to hear the album in full, Artrocker Magazine are streaming the album in its entirety on their website.
Watch Little Arrow's Green Man Session performance of album track 'Loss Um' on YouTube or via the embed below.
You can also stream and download album track 'Medicine Moon' for free from the band's SoundCloud page.
Furious Finite defies genres, incorporating elements of folk, grunge, rock and psychedelia. Reared in the wilds of St. Davids in Pembrokeshire, Little Arrow bottle up the spirit of their natural surroundings and transpose it into an edgy, grunge folk cocktail. Lead singer, William Hughes, describes the album as “concerning the human spirit, the pains and great joys of human relationships as we gain and lose others throughout our life. It also expresses solace, which can be found through immersion into the outside environment. But most importantly it expresses collaboration between five good friends sharing high and lows and dancing in each other’s heads.”
Little Arrow were formed in 2011 by William Hughes. His acoustic templates have since been broadened with the arrival of Dan Messore (guitar), Ben Sharpe (guitar), Callum Duggan (bass) and Richard Chitty (drums). The resultant sound is open, borne of the folk tradition which is reflected in their suitably chosen band name Little Arrow. Their name was born from three members of the band embarking on an adventure through Europe and eventually ending up meeting a baker named Moon. The three spent their evening with Moon who supplied them with a feast fit for kings. When morning came, Moon had disappeared and left nothing but a pile of three loaves waiting on a square scarf and in the sand, spelt out in rocks next to it, was the phrase “Live your life true like a little arrow”. The rest, as they say, is history.
Furious Finite is released via Bubblewrap Collective and is available to buy digitally on iTunes.
Jo Mango remix album ‘Transformuration’ out now!

“Immensely charming…" - The Times
Jo Mango has released her genre defying remix album Transformuration via Olive Grove Records. Enlisting the help of an excitingly unconventional group of international artists, the album is a reimagining of all 10 tracks of her 2012 sophomore release, Murmuration.
Album track 'Evermore (The Cormorant Remix)' premiered on Clash Magazine's website and you can now stream and download it from the ABoF SoundCloud page or via the embed below.
The album ranges from the breath-taking dignity of English new-folk linchpin Adem’s version of ‘Cordelia’, to Australian Ben TD’s largely instrumental reworking of ‘Blue Dawn Light’ that nods to electro of the likes of Erlend Oye. One half of SAY nominated Scottish duo Conquering Animal Sound remixes as CARBS and completely re-envisages the dark layers of ‘Kingdom’ with finger-clicks and hand-thumps, while ex-Frightened Rabbit guitarist Gordon Skene (aka Fraction Man) takes a bombastic shot at ‘Crossties’. Alongside this, American remixer Cycad moves on from his previous work with Tilly and the Wall, to reshape ‘Every Certainty’ into a sound-designed choir-like, cathedral piece.
The result is like the original album, in that, amongst the clamour of a crowded market, it places a gentle and insistent demand on the listener to stop and consider. Despite the light-hearted humour of the title, Transformuration presents an intellectual reimagining of the original album in myriad surprising and enlightening ways, that continue to foreground the complex (dark and delicate) nature of Mango’s unique voice.
Transformuration was released as a limited edition tape as part of this year's Cassette Store Day celebration on September 27th 2014 and is now available as a full digital release through Olive Grove Records on iTunes.
