Cherri Fosphate single ‘Neighbour’ out now!

For fans of: The Walkmen, Bloc Party, The Maccabees, Jonathan Fire*Eater

Cherri Fosphate have released a brand new video for their latest single Neighbour, directed by BAFTA nominated filmmaker Tim Courtney. Neighbour is an indie-rock tour de force from beginning to end, swarming with catchy hooks and upbeat melodies. Lead singer Jonny Sharpe's vocals are expertly delivered, dovetailing beautifully with the uptempo dynamic of the song as guitar, bass and drums interplay to great effect.

You can watch the video for Neighbour from the embed below or on the band's YouTube page.

You can also stream Neighbour via the ABoF Soundcloud page.

Cherri Fosphate began their journey in 2012, the members joining forces with the aim of bringing the stripped back, no-frills rock and roll influences of New York’s music scene to Scotland. The Scottish four piece, comprising Jonny Sharpe (vocals & guitar), Alan Robinson (lead guitar), Jordan Lannigan (bass) and Sonny Kainth (drums), amalgamated this sound with one closer to home with the likes of Bloc Party making their mark on the band’s style. As a result, Cherri Fosphate have constructed an exquisite, lo-fi fuzz-filled record melded with the more disciplined elements of math rock, creating something truly special and is captured sublimely on album track and recent free download 'Auf Wiedersehen'.

Their debut album 'We Didn’t Come Here To Say Goodbye' is out on November 20th via Bloc Music and it includes ten tracks written by a band who have honed their sound through gigging relentlessly. The band had reached their tipping point and, hungry to elevate themselves to the next level, decided to produce an album based on the ten best songs from their discography, songs that spoke to them both as people and artists. While there is no overarching theme to 'WDCHTSG', each track exists in its own right, with its own twists and turns, as popping bass lines and scratchy guitars teasingly interplay, knitted together by punchy yet understated vocals.

Having released their debut EP Burning Youth in 2013 to widespread acclaim, Cherri Fosphate have continued their impressive rise through the Scottish music scene by supporting Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Boxer Rebellion, Dry The River, The Crookes, Caveman and Honeyblood, as well as making festival appearances at Belladrum, Tartan Heart, GoNorth and Brew at the Bog. Now, having consistently worked hard, taking the opportunity to constantly grow as musicians and a band, they are ready to take those next steps towards breaking into the wider consciousness of UK music lovers.

We Didn’t Come Here To Say Goodbye is released via Bloc+Music on 20th November 2015 and Neighbour is available to buy now on iTunes and Bandcamp.

Introducing… Estrons!

“...a rollicking slice of punk…” - Gigwise

For fans of: Blood Red Shoes, Band of Skulls, The Kills

Estrons means ‘aliens’ or ‘strangers’ in Welsh and this band of misfits may at times seem very far removed from any particular scene because they make music their own way, when they like, how they like.

Their forthcoming single Make A Man (released 4th December) premiered on Gigwise and you can stream it now via the band's Soundcloud page.

Make A Man not only presents the band’s dynamic indie sound, the sentiment behind the song is just as strong and meaningful with the idea of female objectification turned on its head. “It’s the story of a heterosexual female’s battle between desiring a man, whilst simultaneously finding herself having little respect for his self-important ego and misogynistic attitude towards women. She retaliates by objectifying him herself,” explains singer Taliesyn Källström. In a time when female pop stars are shouting out about the same subject matter yet presenting themselves as sex objects regardless, Estrons are the real deal. They write about sexual dominance, belonging, divorce, self doubt… themes that matter to them and they write about them with passion and truth. They sing in English and Welsh, sometimes flitting between the two depending on the feel of the song.

Estrons met after a chance encounter in 2012 on a beach in Aberystwyth. Although the core members consist of Taliesyn Källström (vocals) and Rhodri Daniel (guitar), the band are actually a collection of people that come and go, all strangers who have one sole purpose and common denominator - to make great music that says something.

Last year singer Taliesyn gave birth to her son Björn and toured Wales within a month of his birth. The band’s video for ‘Aliens’ features Taliesyn breast feeding. A subject that has received much attention over the last year yet Estrons approach all subject matter with ease and a good sense of humour.

The band have already played the length and breadth of their home country and festivals such as Swn Festival and Festival no. 6. BBC Radio WalesAdam Walton and Bethan Elfyn and BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens are also huge supporters but the band are ready to take their sound and present it to the world, flying the flag for Wales, the UK and for anyone who loves music with balls.

Make A Man is released via Gofod Records Ltd on 4th December 2015

The Dirty Blonde announce new album ‘Sugarmilk’!

"The latest in a long line of great bands from Glasgow..." - Gigwise

For fans of: Neutral Milk Hotel, Teenage Fanclub, Orange Juice, Husker Dü

Growing up together in a neighbourhood of Glasgow has gifted The Dirty Blonde with a connection that’s much sought after in musical circles - a raw honesty emanating throughout the music they create. This is immediately apparent on the band's free download track 'Bottom Feeder', which is taken from their forthcoming sophomore album Sugarmilk, and available to download via the ABoF Soundcloud page now.

Ultimately, the band play what they enjoy, refusing to be bound by genre, while taking inspiration from the works of bands such as R.E.M. and DIY heroes Ween, as well as an early exposure to Scotland’s fabled folk scene.

The result is an album, Sugarmilk, which refuses to sit still, jumping from the fuzzed out garage rock of tracks such as ‘Rosey-Eyed’ and free download ‘Take You Under’ to the introspective alternative shoegaze of the aforementioned ‘Bottom Feeder’ and ‘Start Over’, with the rest falling somewhere in between, fusing the two together into a cohesive, alt-rock whole. Goodbye: Tiny Fractures, which was released as a single earlier this year, may sound like a staple indie dance floor filler, but it’s soon elevated to greatness by Danny Gallagher’s high energy gravel coated vocals allied to the beautifully constructed interplay between guitars, bass and drums.

Buzzing with musical energy from a young age, brothers Danny (lead vocals & guitar) and Paddy Gallagher (bass & vocals)
along with Dean Canale (drums) and David Rybacki (guitar & vocals) were often kicked out of music classes at school, but refused to be discouraged as they experimented with a range of electronics, pedals and any other noise-making devices,
as they attempted to push their sound to the limit.

Having spent the last few years playing around Glasgow and the UK, including sold out shows at Nice’N’Sleazy and The 13th Note, the boys used the proceeds to set up their own rehearsal and recording studio, and are now ready to share their debut album with the world at large.

Sugarmilk is released via Two States Recording on 6th December 2015.
