Introducing… BRIDGES!

"Bright and tight, they make an excellent noise…"
- BBC Introducing
BRIDGES release their second single BFF on 23rd February 2015 via Bear Pit Records.
To get a taste of their sound, you can stream BFF from the BRIDGES SoundCloud page.
BFF is the perfect uplifting anthem for the new year, creating a brooding euphoric wall of alternative indie that showcases Ethan Proctor’s stunning voice. Described as a cross between Kings Of Leon and The Teardrop Explodes, they are a band that understand the importance of good hooks, and have spent the last two years honing their guitar driven sound into an irresistible force with one purpose - to make people move.
The band are Ethan Proctor (vocals and guitar), Josh Redman-Thomas (guitar), Henry Matthews (bass) and Joe Lane (drums). They have supported the likes of Little Matador, George Ezra, To Kill A King and Kids In Glass Houses. They’ve also graced the stage at a number of festivals in 2014, including Glastonbury, Dot To Dot, Liverpool Sound City and Arctangent. Their refined yet expansive sound utilising soaring vocals and crashing guitars is sure to win over fans of indie and alternative music as well as the more discerning hard rock fan.
To support the single, BRIDGES will be embarking on a mini tour of the UK. Catch them live at the following dates:
22nd February - Green Door Store - Brighton
21st February - The Birdcage - Bristol
24th February - Hoxton Square Bar - London
25th February - The Boileroom - Guildford
28th February - The Cavern - Exeter
BFF is released via Bear Pit Records on 23rd February 2015.
Introducing… Best Girl Athlete!

Best Girl Athlete, aka Katie Buchan, releases her debut album Carve Every Word on 2nd March 2015 via Fitlike Records.
You can stream and download album track 'Talk' for free from the ABoF SoundCloud page.
At just 15 years old, Katie has dreams like any other teenager, but possesses a talent far beyond her tender years. The songbird, who resides in Aberdeen Scotland, exhibits an effortless yet enchanting voice aligned to a burgeoning talent for song writing which elevates her natural potential to even greater heights.
Not content to simply sing her musician father Charley Buchan’s songs, Katie has begun to establish herself as a mature singer-songwriter in her own right. Katie possesses a voice which sounds wise beyond its years as her earthy, ethereal tone flows beautifully from the speakers warmly enveloping the listener. Her vocals are accomplished to the point that they could easily sit alongside seasoned singer songwriters such as Aimee Mann, Laura Marling and Feist, as she constructs emotional vignettes with a laid back and elegant Americana edge. Where most artists use their debut album to fine tune their sound, Katie has produced something special on her first attempt - an art that can take many of her contemporaries years to hone.
The tender vocals and whimsical music is no more apparent on album tracks such as ‘Leave It All Behind’ and ‘All That’ where Best Girl Athlete produces some of her most exquisite tracks as the chorus is left floating around your head for days. While ‘Talk’ is so well written it could easily be mistaken for an Ellie Goulding single - Katie’s vocals radiate and her lyrics impress, as soothing strings and piano elevate the music to new levels.
Carve Every Word is an emotionally charged and accomplished debut that finds Best Girl Athlete imposing herself as a serious talent. Released in the United States under the Minty Fresh label and with a forthcoming American tour in support, the album will have its UK release via Fitlike Records on 2nd March 2015.
Siv Jakobsen releases single ‘How We Used To Love’!

"...ruthlessly emotive to the point it should come with a warning label."
- The Line Of Best Fit
Siv Jakobsen's single How We Used To Love is out now via Nordic Mellow Records. It is the most personal and intimate song she has ever written, and comes ahead of her UK tour with contemporary and friend Sofia.
The gorgeous video that accompanies the track premiered on The Line Of Best Fit and you can now watch it via Siv's YouTube Channel.
How We Used To Love came to be when Siv, stuck in San Francisco traffic, drove into the car in front of her in an absent minded moment. This inspired the first couple of lines in the song and became a monologue she’d never dared say out loud. The track itself is dark and ethereal, with a string arrangement and vocal that is both cinematic and heartbreaking.
Siv's tourmate, Sofia, has also been busy ahead of their UK tour, recording on camera an outstanding cover of Jessie J's 'Do It Like A Dude' with her father in front of the Chouf Mountains in Lebanon.
The video premiered on Gigslutz and you watch it now on Sofia's YouTube channel.
Gigslutz also ran an in depth interview alongside the video about Sofia's reasons behind choosing the song and the dangers posed by recording such a controversial track in a country that still legislates against homosexuality.
Press passes are available for Siv Jakobsen and Sofia’s UK tour, which kicks off in Nottingham on 13th January.
14th January - Hootananny - London
15th January - Big Comfy Bookshop - Coventry
19th January - Gaslight Club - Leeds
21st January - The Zanzibar Club - Liverpool
22nd January - The Musician - Leicester
23rd January - ORT Cafe - Birmingham
24th January - Marwood - Brighton
28th January - Troubadour - London
Siv Jakobsen's single How We Used To Love is released via Nordic Mellow Records and is available to buy digitally on iTunes and Amazon.

Dave McPherson releases ‘If Only You Knew’ video!

Dave McPherson has released the gorgeous and poignant video for 'If Only You Knew', a track taken from his third album, Journal Of A Journey Buoy.
The video premiered on Artrocker and you can now watch it via Dave's YouTube.
You can also stream and download free album tracks 'Nothing Is Enough' and 'Memories Become Enemies' from the ABoF SoundCloud page.
Following on from his previous two albums, The Hardship Diaries and Dreamoirs, Journal of a Journey Buoy continues his exploration of life through the eyes of a touring singer songwriter. Drawing parallels with his live show, the music is stripped down and is simply presented as one man, his voice and his guitar. There’s a brutal honesty to the lyrical content that Dave explores, unhindered by overcomplicated production, with Dave’s powerful vocal range and talented guitar playing able to shine through beautifully.
Journal Of A Journey Buoy is released via Pledge Music and you can buy it digitally via iTunes.
