Mano’s Daughter announce EP ‘Shiver’!

"Mano's Daughter do 10-tonne synth pop impeccably..."
- The 405

Mano’s Daughter return with their second EP Shiver, due for release August 2014. The London based band return following their debut EP Smart, which received high praise online from the likes of The 405, Artrocker, Contactmusic and God Is In The TV

The duo premiered EP track 'What's A Girl Supposed To Do' on Gigwise, and you can stream and download it from Mano's Daughter's SoundCloud page.

With this latest EP, Mano’s Daughter present five perfectly formed, intelligent synth pop tracks that move in a darker direction from their debut effort. ‘What’s A Girl Supposed To Do’ unravels slowly crescendoing into a massive, flourishing chorus that demonstrates front woman Sarah Carter’s powerful, soulful vocals. The song is about a girl trying to be the right person but stuck in the wrong relationship, based on a tragic love story. ‘Wheels’ is a cross between Foxes and Lorde, however, ‘Little Heart’ and ‘This House’ are completely stripped-down, lounge like and seductive - exhibiting the band’s different facets. Musically, the band are taking us on their own personal journey as they stretch their own boundaries, especially with closing track ‘You’. It’s an 8-minute epic that mirrors the shimmering melancholy of MS MR. Each song on the EP is Mano’s Daughter’s take on love and relationships but the tragic side of love that teaches us lessons and shows us who we need to be.

Consisting of Sarah Carter (Vocals), Matthias Garrick (Synths, programming) and Dan See (Drums), the London based band are one of the most hardworking on the scene and with influences ranging from Bon Iver to Moloko, Mano’s Daughter put their songs at the heart of their identity, spinning epic lyrical stories that paint a picture of what it’s like to be at the heart and soul of the band as they sonically wear their hearts on their sleeves.

Shiver is released August 2014 via Smart & Shiver Records.

Hundreds album ‘Aftermath’ out now!

"...an album that so deftly marries the traditional and progressive, the personal and accessible."

- 8/10, The Line of Best Fit

Hundreds release their second studio album Aftermath via Berlin based label Sinnbus.

It's been two years since their self-titled debut album was released and with Aftermath the band return stronger than ever with the same, if not more, conviction, passion and excitement. Only a band like Hundreds could return with the same vigour whilst maintaining that enchanting, cool elegance that has become their signature sound and attitude.

The entire album is available to stream, with a track by track breakdown, courtesy of Gold Flake Paint.

The video for the outstanding live performance of album track 'Beehive' recently premiered on Gigwise, and you can watch it now on the Sinnbus YouTube channel.

You can also listen to Circus, a single taken from the album, on the band's SoundCloud page.

Originally from Hamburg, sibling duo Eva and Philip Milner (aka Hundreds) have been working on the material for their new album for the last 18 months. Their music has captured the dynamic of their creative process, filled with grand emotions and hypnotic arcs of suspense, followed by quieter moments of introspection. On the other side of this process of creation they have still held on to their Electro roots, but have now discovered a warmer, and more song-oriented sound that’s more organic than their previous offerings.

Aftermath is the story of opening up and letting go, growing older, but also of refreshing naivety and unconditional utopia. They’re sure to enchant fans both old and new with this stunning collection of tracks that have been years in the making.

Aftermath is released via Sinnbus and is available to buy on iTunes, Amazon and can be streamed via Spotify.

So Many Animal Calls - ‘Burden’ EP Out Now!

"… this EP may be ‘Burden’ by name, it’s certainly no burden by nature."
- Rock Sound

"…riffs big enough to make your balls retreat like a piece of dust up a Dyson."
- Artrocker Magazine

So Many Animal Calls have released their second EP, Burden, via Bloc+Music. You can buy it now from the band's official Bandcamp, iTunes and Amazon.

This EP sees the Glasgow based four-piece make a welcome return after the release of their 2011 debut EP, Eulogy. While Eulogy highlighted the raw, visceral skills of a young talented band, on Burden we see a marked progression in their sound - a more mature sound mixing abrasive alternative rock with layered moments of technical excellence.

The video for single From The Sick Bed was exclusively released on Artrocker and is now available to watch on the band's YouTube channel.

You can stream the single from the ABoF SoundCloud page.

You can also stream and download EP track 'Stories' for free from the ABoF SoundCloud page as well as their first free track 'My Blood's Not Mine'.

The Glaswegian foursome, consisting of Sean McKenna (vocals, guitar), Ross Stewart (guitar, vocals), Ross Coll (bass) and new member Sam Leighton (drums) with previous drummer Martin Johnston featuring on the EP, recorded Burden with producer Bruce Rintoul (Twin Atlantic, We Were Promised Jetpacks) and the EP was mastered by Carl Saff (Joanna Gruesome, Braid, Speedy Ortiz). Drawing on influences that range from The Cure to Motion City Soundtrack, the band have produced a record that would legitimately sit alongside contemporaries like The Get Up Kids, The Promise Ring and Death Cab For Cutie.

Their dynamic sound has also seen the band gain support from the likes of Rock Sound Magazine, The List, Is This Music?, and BBC Introducing... as well as picking up support slots with the likes of Little Comets and The Xcerts and sharing a stage at Rockness with Friendly Fires.

Burden is released via Bloc+Music and can be purchased from
the band's official Bandcamp, iTunes and Amazon. Single From The Sick Bed will be available on 9th June 2014.

Algernon Doll single ‘Suicide’ available to download now!

"…one of the most exciting artists to emerge in a while."
- Artrocker Magazine

Algernon Doll have released the free single Suicide, taken from their third album, Omphalic, out via Struggletown Records on 30th June 2014.

The video for Suicide was premiered on The Skinny - with the video and the track itself capturing the sweaty, youth infused spirit of grunge, but with an Algernon Doll edge. You can watch the video on Algernon Doll's YouTube channel.

Suicide premiered on podcart and can now be downloaded for free from the ABoF SoundCloud page.

Omphalic sees Algernon Doll break out from his one man band persona as he continues to hone and perfect an alternative guitar sound that harks back to a sound reminiscent of early 90’s grunge. At just 24 years old, Ewan Grant is carving out a place in the hearts and minds of fans and critics alike and has already released two critically acclaimed albums, Camomile and Citalo-pop, that has seen him compared to the likes of Elliott Smith. On Omphalic Algernon Doll really cuts loose and pulls on influences ranging from Nirvana and the Smashing Pumpkins to The Jesus Lizard and Mudhoney to produce an up-tempo, driven rock album that is both rich in its abrasive qualities as well as creating memorable hooks and choruses that are willingly addictive.

Tracks such as first single Spilt Milk Perfume, ‘Justine’ and ‘Candy Striped’ offer a reflective sound with chiming guitars, poignant lyrics and unforgettable hooks that are comparable to the likes of Sebadoh in their pomp. While, ‘Tamed’, ‘Suicide’ and ‘Fellate’ have an angriness and causticity that has Nirvana written all over it.

Omphalic was mastered by Bob Weston of the mighty Shellac, who has production credits on a host of
classic records such as Nirvana’s In-Utero, Shipping News, Missions of Burma, Chavez, June of 44, Rachel’s and LCD Soundsystem. Algernon Doll features Ewan (guitar & vocals), Wull Swales (bass & backing vocals) and Owen Wicksted (drums) with Ewan and Tom Mitchell also playing drums on the record.

To support the release, Algernon Doll will be playing a number of shows in the UK as well as the Radio 1 Big Weekend and Wickerman Festival, while he aims to record more tracks, this time with Steve Albini, at the end of this year or early next year.
