Dave Rowntree (Blur) remixes The Cadbury Sisters’ single ‘Milk’

"…beautiful harmonies and gorgeous vocals."
- Tom Robinson, BBC 6Music

The Cadbury Sisters have announced their forthcoming single Milk, due for release 5th May via Fear Of Fiction. They've also revealed that former Blur drummer Dave Rowntree has remixed the track especially for the single's release. Dave's reasoning for chosing The Cadbury Sisters as his first ever remix work outside of Blur is the stuff that PR dreams are made of: 'with my name being Rowntree and theirs being Cadbury, I thought wouldn’t it be nice if we could merge the chocolate empires somehow?'.

Dave's 'Rowntree Cadbury Milk remix' received its UK debut on XFM, but you can listen to it now via The Cadbury Sisters' SoundCloud or via the embed below.

The video for 'Milk' was premiered exclusively on Gigwise, but you can watch it now on the trio's YouTube channel or via the embed below.

The Cadbury Sisters' great great grandfather was William Cadbury, the man behind the world famous chocolate company.  Jessica (vocals and percussion), Mary (vocals and electric guitar) and Lucy Cadbury (vocals and acoustic guitar) are his direct descendants and yes, they are all sisters.  Their goal is simple; to take the spirit of traditional English Folk music, infuse its DNA with contemporary influences such as Fleet Foxes, Daughter and First Aid Kit before disseminating it into the world.  If Cecil Sharp House were run by Saga Noren this is how its corridors would sound.

The Cadbury Sisters live in a half forgotten dream, inhabiting places we remember, yet sometimes feel uneasy about returning to.  Their music is a meld of harmony, discord and mindfulness, their songs the sonic equivalent of watching Swallows And Amazons or The Railway Children inter-spliced with The Wicker Man or Lord Of The Flies.

The Cadbury Sisters release their debut EP Close via Fear Of Fiction on 16th June 2014, and they've already picked up support from the likes of Q Magazine and NME. The EP will be receiving a dual launch at The Islington, London June 11th and The Louisiana, Bristol 12th June. They’ve also confirmed festival appearances at The Bristol Folk Festival, 2000 Trees Festival and The Alternative Escape in May and have picked up radio play from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens,
BBC 6Music’s Tom Robinson, and XFM’s John Kennedy.

The/Das return with free track ‘Parallel Worlds’!

For fans of... Sohn, Deptford Goth, Matthew Dear

Berlin based duo, The/Das are back with brand new track 'Parallel Worlds', taken from their forthcoming album, Freezer. The album is set for release this August via Sinnbus.

Stream and download the track for free via Sinnbus' SoundCloud page, or via the embed below.

Watch the atmospheric video for 'Parallel Worlds' on Sinnbus' YouTube channel or via the embed below.

With 'Parallel Worlds' The/Das are giving their fans a sneak preview of the album. The track was developed and recorded spontaneously, showcasing the band's newfound organic approach to songwriting. 'Parallel Worlds' is less polished than the rest of the tracks on the album; it shows a different side to the band, channeling the more melancholic, darker face of electronica.

The/Das first sprung to life in 2012 with their Fresh Water EP, released on Italy’s cutting edge dance label Life And Death. Collaborating with Life And Death’s Tale Of Us - one of the world’s hottest techno acts - they released two remixes for Me And My Drummer that caught the attention of the press and their peers all over Europe.

Duo Fabian Fenk and Anton K. Feist have previously played together with Bodi Bill. As Bodi Bill, the band released four albums together and built a considerable fan base in their native Germany. In the UK, XFM, NME Radio and BBC 6Music picked them up with reviews and features coming from RCRDLBL, Notion, Shortlist Magazine and numerous websites and blogs online. As The/Das, however, they've been creating noise online with The 405, Artrocker, Clash, Noisey and Notion praising their last EP Speak Your Mind Speak. They are no strangers to the live circuit either having played Melt, Eurosonic, Iceland Airwaves, Ekko Festival, to name but a few.

Freezer is due for release in August 2014 via Sinnbus.

Introducing… So Many Animal Calls

So Many Animal Calls are pleased to announce the release of their second EP, Burden, due for release 26th May 2014 via Bloc+Music.

Burden sees the Glasgow based four-piece make a welcome return after the release of their 2011 debut EP, Eulogy. While Eulogy highlighted the raw, visceral skills of a young talented band, on Burden we see a marked progression in their sound - a more mature sound mixing abrasive alternative rock with layered moments of technical excellence.

To celebrate the release of their upcoming EP, So Many Animal Calls are giving away 'My Blood's Not Mine' for free. You can download the track from the ABoF SoundCloud page or from the embed below.

Opening track and forthcoming single, ‘From The Sick Bed’, kicks-off proceedings beautifully as So Many Animal Calls illustrate their ability to write solid, sing-along pop-rock songs encased within a song structure that edges towards prog territory. Emotionally charged lead vocals are intensified by relentless drumming and chiming guitars as the track undulates between the quiet/loud dynamic to great effect. Second track, ’My Blood’s Not Mine’, showcases everything that is good about So Many Animal Calls - technical guitar pieces, dreamy vocals and time changes galore display an impressive depth to a band who offer far more than the sum of their parts.

The Glaswegian foursome, consisting of Sean McKenna (vocals, guitar), Ross Stewart (guitar, vocals), Ross Coll (bass) and new member Sam Leighton (drums) with previous drummer Martin Johnston featuring on the EP, recorded Burden with producer Bruce Rintoul (Twin Atlantic, We Were Promised Jetpacks) and the EP was mastered by Carl Saff (Joanna Gruesome, Braid, Speedy Ortiz). Drawing on influences that range from The Cure to Motion City Soundtrack, the band have produced a record that would legitimately sit alongside contemporaries like The Get Up Kids, The Promise Ring and Death Cab For Cutie.

Their dynamic sound has also seen the band gain support from the likes of Artrocker, Drowned In Sound, Jim Gellatly, The Herald and Huw Stephens as well as picking up support slots with the likes of Little Comets and The Xcerts and sharing a stage at Rockness with Friendly Fires.

Burden is released May 26th 2014 via Bloc+Music

Shambles In A Husk release ‘Medications’!

Shambles In A Husk continue their aural assault with free download track 'Medications'.

Both the track and the accompanying video were premiered exclusively by Big Cheese Magazine earlier this week, but you can now stream and download the track for free from the band's official SoundCloud page or via the embed below.

'Medications' is hectic, in-your-face brilliance channelling bands like Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Adebisi Shank and Refused.

The video is also available to watch now on Youtube.

Based in Glasgow, Steven Murray (Guitar & Vocals), Kyle Shields (Guitar & Vocals), Jonathan Beveridge (Drums) and Mandy Clarke (Bass) formed Shambles In A Husk from the remnants of Crusades, Super Adventure Club and The Darien Venture in late 2013. Despite the keen support from the likes of The Herald, This Is Fake DIY, Rock Sound, Amazing Radio and many more, they decided to make a fresh start so they could hone their talents as songwriters and develop their live shows. The band are heavily influenced by the Washington DC DIY scene and the ethos of bands such as Fugazi and Black Flag.

With three more singles in the pipeline, and their debut EP slated to wrap up 2014 along with a European Tour, previously released single 'Cowboy Doom' and now free track 'Medications' is only the first step for a band that’s sure to cause a ruckus on the UK’s rock and metal scene.
