Quickbeam Release Album Sampler & Free Download ‘Immersed’

"Impossibly beautiful...." - This Is Fake DIY

"Quickbeam's debut is a thing of beauty." - The Scotsman

For fans of... Low, Sigur Ros, Mazzy Star

Quickbeam today announce the release of the free download track 'Immersed' alongside a special album sampler exclusively on This Is Fake DIY.

The track is taken from their forthcoming self-titled debut album, part funded by Creative Scotland and due for release on 3rd June through Scottish label Comets & Cartwheels.

'Immersed' perfectly highlights Quickbeam's beautiful sound. Opening with gorgeous cello and allied by Monika Gromek's striking vocals, the song builds beautifully throughout before upping the pace as it comes to a close. Ending with snapping drums and quickening piano, 'Immersed' is knitted together with the aforementioned cello as the instruments interplay wonderfully.

You can watch the video for the forthcoming download Immersed via YouTube or from the embed below.

Originally formed in 2010 by Monika Gromek (Vocals/Harmonium) and Andrew Thomson (Guitar/Vocals/Piano), the band have since evolved into a four-piece with the addition of Liam Chapman (Drums) and Ruth Campbell (Cello). Having released their first single Seven Hundred Birds to widespread critical acclaim last year, Quickbeam aim to capture the hearts and minds of the music community once more.

Download 'Immersed' for free, and view the video album sampler, exclusively on This Is Fake DIY.

The resulting collection of songs captured on the album further reveal Quickbeam’s growing maturity as songwriters and highlights the chemistry between the members - orchestrally arranged strings, brass, and rich harmonium pitted against thunderously distorted guitar passages and pounding rhythms. As a result, Quickbeam showcase their undoubted skills by producing an album filled with melancholic beauty which captivates the listener to stunning effect, whilst displaying a diversity to their work the likes of which Sigur Ros and Low would be proud of.

Quickbeam will be celebrating the launch of their debut album at a very special event in the disused Victorian swimming pool of Govanhill Baths on 31st May 2013. Having secured funding from PRS For Music Foundation in order to stage a special series of events, this show will see Quickbeam collaborate with local artist Annie Crabtree (Picture Window) and Becca Thomas (Pidgin Perfect) to produce a very special event experience that encompasses environmental artistry, projection, theatrics, and of course Quickbeam's own brand of majestic and cinematic music. The night will also include a full band performance from label-mates Fake Major, and Comets and Cartwheels official partners Brewdog will be providing the bar.

Tickets for the event can be purchased from the Tickets Scotland website.

'Immersed' is free to download exclusively on This Is Fake DIY now, and will available to all other websites from Tuesday 30th May.

Quickbeam will release album Quickbeam via Comets & Cartwheels on 3rd June.

Humphrey Milles: ‘Tall Stories’ album and ‘Save Me / Tall Stories’ single release!

For fans of... Ed Harcourt, Elbow, The Stereophonics

"His melodic, anthemic songs will send a shiver of pleasure zipping up your spine..." - Sunday Times

“...one of the most important burgeoning talents on the indie scene.” - The Vinyl District

Humphrey Miles (pronounced "Mills") returned to the music scene last year with the free track ‘Breathe’ followed by the single Not Enough. With coverage on NME.com, Artrocker, Contactmusic.com, a UK tour with Michele Stodart (The Magic Numbers) and a stunning session with Daytrotter, the video received over a million views within a month. Now Humphrey is ready to tackle 2013 head on with the double a-side single Save Me / Tall Stories out on June 3rd, followed by his latest album Tall Stories due for release on 24th June 2013.

Save Me / Tall Stories is available to stream now via Humphrey's Soundcloud page.

The video for Not Enough is available to watch via Humphrey's YouTube channel.

Tall Stories is the sound of an accomplished songwriter and one who is honest and emotionally in tune. Opening with ‘Would’ve Known’, Milles throws us straight into his world with crescendoing melodies and an epic chorus as he calls out “at least I know I’m not alone”. ‘Save Me’ is a complete change of pace, taking on a rockier element not dissimilar to The Stereophonics. ‘Tall Stories’ is epic, sonically vast and rich. Here, you get an insight into Milles’s honesty as he pierces through the gaze of modern life, the rat race and human nature. The latter half of Tall Stories is more introspective and slower songs such as ‘It’s Alright Now’ display Milles’ talent as not only a songwriter but a musician as his vocals ache over a simple piano.

Humphrey is no stranger to the scene, he has previously shared the stage with the late Amy Winehouse, KT Tunstall, The Magic Numbers, Snow Patrol and the talented, Mercury nominated Ed Harcourt. Most recently he embarked upon a UK tour with Michele Stodart, hitting venues and regional radio stations up and down the country from Yorkshire FM to BBC Radio Ulster, which led to him being picked up by national radio - BBC 6Music’s Chris Hawkins especially championed the single Not Enough.

The Nowhere Team brings greater scope and soulfulness to what has already become an unmistakable signature sound. Fans of M83 and Foals will fall in love with the dream-pop inflections of ‘Honesty’ and ‘The Nowhere Team’. More atmospheric tracks like ‘Suddenly The Feelings Are Ours’ and ‘Terra Firma’ nod to the influence of artists like Apparat demonstrating the bands ability to hold introspective moments with ebbing, interwoven vocals. The band self-produced The Nowhere Team, venturing to factories, train stations and building sites to record and explore a new depth of sound. Combining this with their trademark textures and creative use of guest vocalists they carefully built up layers that they describe as "an electric blanket for the soul".

With How To Build A Life Raft firmly setting Saturday Night Club as game changers, The Nowhere Team is sure to make 2013 their defining year.

The Deep Red Sky Release single ‘Look On Your Face’

For fans of... Frightened Rabbit, Arcade Fire, The Shins, British Sea Power

Alternative indie band, The Deep Red Sky, return with the release of their single Look On Your Face, taken from their forthcoming debut album Plans, which is officially released on 13th May 2013.

Look On Your Face is available to stream from the embed below and can be purchased on the band's Bandcamp page.

The track encapsulates the band's subtle yet imposing sound. Heightened by the gorgeous rich vocals and poignant harmonies present throughout the album.

The Scottish 5-piece, consisting of Jamie Craighead (lead vocals, guitar); Jesse Stoddard (keyboard, backing vocals); Jos Collins (guitar, glockenspiel, backing vocals); Scott Cousins (bass) and John Alexander (drums), originally formed as a three piece when Jamie, Scott and John met at Napier University in Edinburgh. With the introduction of Jos and Jesse, the bands’ sound subsequently progressed as they developed the stunning harmonies and layered, atmospheric epic sounds that can found on the album.

First single, Zombies, was released last month and was named For Folk Sake's 'Song of the Day'.

You can download 'Zombies' via the band's Bandcamp page or from the embed below.

Citing the influence of The Twilight Sad and Frightened Rabbit in their development, the band attempt to create a sound that has introspective characteristics allied with more accessible vocal melodies, the likes of which Arcade Fire, Snow Patrol and Biffy Clyro would be proud of.

Album tracks such as ‘Getting Easier’, ‘Look On Your Face’, ‘Plans’ and ‘You Had it All’ are real highlights and truly showcase The Deep Red Sky’s quality writing skills, as well as an enviable ability to create both challenging and eminently listenable tunes.

2013 has been a busy year for The Deep Red Sky, and looks likely to continue as they follow up 2011 EP The Job. The Flat. The Girlfriend. They have released the free download track 'Zombies', follow up single Look On Your Face, completed their first UK tour and prepare for their debut album coming out in May.

Plans by The Deep Red Sky will be released on May 13th 2013 via Soundreach Records.

Digital EP promos are available for writers and editors to review. If you'd like more information on The Deep Red Sky or our PR services, please email info@abadgeoffriendship.com.

Keith TOTP announces second album and free download!

For fans of... Half Man Half Biscuit, Jonathan Richman, The Travelling Wilburys

"Daddy! Get me a Keith!" - Artrocker Magazine

Keith Top Of The Pops & His Minor UK Indie Celebrity All-Star Backing Band
are back with a new album that's even more amazing than the last one! TOTP2 is a tongue-in-cheek journey about love, arrogance, petty jealousy, and being in an amazing band. It will be released digitally on 20th May and physically on 24th June via Corporate Records.

TOTP2 was recorded in the same live "one take only” scenario with it being rather hard getting all 27 musicians that feature on the album to make it into the studio at the same time being in different bands, touring or living in completely different countries altogether. Amongst the players on this second album are Charley Stone (The Famous Cocks, Joanne Joanne), Sarah Nixey (Black Box Recorder), Jimbob (Carter USM) Charlotte Hatherley (Ash), Johnny Fade (The Fades) and Eddie Argos (Art Brut), Luke Haines (The Auteurs), Simon and Julia Indelicate (The Indelicates).

The album track #ProperMusic is available to stream and download from the ABoF soundcloud page. Every quote spoken by Sarah Nixey, Jo Bevan (Desperate Journalist, Joanne Joanne) and Julia Indelicate in the song is an actual tweet from the Twitter hashtag #propermusic, which are both tragic and hilarious at the same time.

TOTP 2 opens with “Morrissey Will Never Forgive Me” - a song about being a young Morrissey fan and how Morrissey would be disappointed in the meat eating, beer drinking, non-virgin almost all Morrissey fans become when they grow older and start doing the opposite of a lot of the characters in Morrissey songs. Keith tells us: “The title is a play on the Morrissey song "I Have Forgiven Jesus" which either implies that I've done much worse things than he hated Jesus for in that song, or that I'm better than Jesus. Either is good.”

“Better Than Your Boyfriend” and “I’m Alone. You’re Alone. Let’s Be Alone Together” seem a little more personal but, as ever, tinged with Keith’s signature humour and catchy indie melodies.

Keith’s debut album Fuck You! I’m Keith Top Of The Pops received support from Artrocker Magazine, gaining a brilliant 5/5 plus many blogs and websites online. Keith plans to take TOTP2 on the road in May to support the album. Dates are below!

May 3rd - Cologne, Luxor with Art Brut
May 4th - Hamburg, Molotow with Art Brut<
May 6th - Berlin, Lido with Art Brut
May 7th Stuttgart, Schoken with Art Brut
May 8th - Munich, Atomic Cafe with Art Brut
