The Bara Bara Band release ‘The Seeds Inside (The Grapes Upon The Vine)’!
"...musicians drawing on the echoes of pastoral English folk for their own sepia-tinged sounds."
- M Magazine
"...a vibrant slice of folk, combining age-old tradition with a fresh and innovative sound." - Gigslutz
Combining folk influences with contemporary subjects, The Bara Bara Band are ready to introduce their modern twist on tradition with their forthcoming album, The Seeds Inside (The Grapes Upon The Vine), out now via Singaround Records and available to buy and stream on iTunes and Spotify.
To celebrate the release, the instantly catchy Mists Of Time premiered on M Magazine and is now available to stream on The Bara Bara Band's Soundcloud page.
The album takes you on a journey through a spectrum of folk, along the tributaries of the Thames, via the M25. Like all folk music, each track has an underlying story behind the band’s intricate musicianship and Ruth Jacob and Rupert Browne’s colloquial, warm lead vocals. From the politically charged lyrics of 'More and More' and 'All Look the Same' to their takes on traditional tales such as ‘Plimsoll', 'What Put The Blood' and 'The Barley & The Rye’, The Bara Bara Band effortlessly blend the new with the old to create a cocktail of feel-good folk. Ruth explains ”the album reflects traditions within music, how the old is contained inside the new and the new existed within the old.”
The video for lead single, Plimsoll, premiered on Gigslutz and is available to stream via the band's YouTube channel now.
The single originally premiered on Folk Radio UK and is available to stream via the band's Soundcloud page now.
All the tracks on the album were either written by Ruth and Rupert or are reworks of traditional folk songs. Possibly the most striking song is an original arrangement of a broadside about the politician Plimsoll who, in the 1800s, canvassed for better safety on cargo ships where owners were sending sailors off to their deaths to cash in on insurance.
Over the past seven years, the band have gone from strength to strength. They have released two EPs as well as their debut album Escape From Clinch Mountain, receiving praise from the likes of Folk Radio UK, FATEA Magazine and Folk Words to name but a few. Rupert and Ruth also run their own folk club Tooting Folk, a firm favourite on the London live scene for the last five years.
The Bara Bara Band are a collective who do not fear tradition, instead they embrace it with open arms, whimsical humour and touching melodies.
The Seeds Inside (The Grapes Upon The Vine) is out now via Singaround Records and available to buy and stream on iTunes and Spotify now.
Introducing… SEYD!
“…well worth keeping an eye on.” - Crack In The Road
SEYD returns with her latest ethereal, alt-pop single Another World, out now via Born Good and available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.
The single premiered on Gigslutz who describe the song as "a captivating alt-pop anthem, marking her out as a definiate one to watch.". Stream Another World on SEYD's Soundcloud page.
Another World is about the loss of a partner, written from the perspective of both the dead and the living. This brooding theme combined with the track’s ghostly beats, chilling analogue keys and warm atmospherics creates dark-pop for a contemporary audience. Eleanor Robinson’s vocal soars at the forefront of this arrangement, sounding akin to the likes of BANKS and Broods’ smooth, celestial vocal style.
Eleanor created SEYD eighteen months ago in her hometown Bewdley, Worcestershire. She then entered the studio with collaborator and producer De Wilde (BMG), and together they began to craft SEYD’s unique brand of alt-pop. Since then, SEYD has already began to gain support from a number of well-regarded publications including Crack In The Road as well as BBC Introducing Hereford and Worcester. Now based in London, Eleanor is ready to engage listeners with her latest haunting, transcendental release.
Another World is out now via Born Good and is available to buy on iTunes and stream on Spotify.
Introducing… East Of My Youth!
“...Stylish and soothing…” - Clash
Icelandic synth-pop duo East Of My Youth have released their latest celestial single, Broken Glass, out now via West Of My Future Ltd and available to buy and stream on iTunes and Spotify.
The single premiered on Clash and the video is now available to watch on the band's YouTube channel and VEVO.
The audio is also available to stream on the band's Soundcloud page now.
A majestic, cinematic soundscape, the track soars with shimmering melodies and sweeping vocals throughout. As a result of Herdís Stefánsdóttir’s compositional background, Broken Glass has a dynamic musicality and uses glitchy, synth-infused beats to create something playful yet dark. The outcome is a twinkling slice of dreamy, electro-pop akin to the likes of Anna of the North and Lykke Li.
East Of My Youth was formed in May 2015 in Reykjavik, Iceland. Since then, Herdís and artist Thelma Marín Jónsdóttir have already received praise from a number of well-regarded publications including i-D, The Line of Best Fit and Nordic By Nature to name but a few. They have also wowed crowds at festivals such as SXSW, Iceland Airwaves and Sonar Reykjavik and now hope to charm further listeners with their captivating, musically rich compositions.

Introducing… Liv Austen!
"Liv Austen’s vocals are crystal clear, while the sweet melody, and extremely catchy lyrics make it a real belter of a song."
- Celeb Mix
Norwegian born singer-songwriter Liv Austen returns with another infectious slice of country-pop. New single The Next Time is out now via NUA Entertainment and is available to buy and stream here.
The single premiered on Belles and Gals and is now available to stream via Liv's Soundcloud page.
Written with Jessica Sharman (Ward Thomas) and mixed by Ash Howes (Ellie Goulding, The Corrs), The Next Time is about finding the courage to tell someone they’ve used up their second chance with you. It combines catchy pop hooks akin to the likes of Carly Rae Jepsen with Austen's crystalline vocals, country-inspired musicality and a rich storytelling charm to create something truly addictive.
The turning point for Austen came when, aged seventeen, a singing teacher forced her to confront her stage fright and perform in front of her peers. Since then, she has released two EPs independently and has already received support from the likes of BBC Radio 2’s Paul Sexton. Liv has also performed at London’s acclaimed Country2Country festival and now looks set to seduce listeners across the globe with her twinkling, country-tinged pop.

The View announce Scottish tour + festival dates!
Earlier this year, The View celebrated the 10th anniversary of their debut album Hats Off To The Buskers with a 10th anniversary limited edition vinyl being released for Record Store Day. To book end another successful year, the Scottish indie four-piece have announced a number of UK tour dates.
The tour coincides with The View’s classic Face For The Radio appearing on streaming services for the first time, and a special 7” coloured vinyl of the single being released on Walk Tall Recordings. Serving as a temporary farewell to fans, the dates will be the last for at least a year whilst the band take some time off to pursue their own individual projects, and gain inspiration for their future releases.
Hats Off To The Buskers was originally released via 1965 Records on 22nd January 2007 and hit the number one spot in the UK charts on 28th January 2007, leading to a Mercury Prize nomination that year. The album rode the tail end of the wave left by The Libertines but injected the band’s unique, upbeat observational indie rock filtered through a Scottish perspective, with frontman Kyle Falconer’s signature Dundee accent.
Since the release of their debut, the band have gone on to release five albums in total, 2015’s Ropewalk being their most recent release, produced but The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr. and Gus Oberg. The band have been praised for their trademark indie rock style that has matured through their last five releases but has never succumbed to music’s ever changing fashion trends.
