Introducing… The Deportees!

For fans of... Idlewild, Teenage Fanclub, The Twilight Sad, Seth Lakeman, The Waterboys, Wilco

Over three years in the making, the debut album from Aberdeen five piece The Deportees is now ready for release. The Birth of Industry is out on 3rd November 2017.

The first single, A Single Truth, is now available to stream on the band's Soundcloud page.

Intended to channel a sense of place, The Birth of Industry is heavily influenced by the unique terrain of the North East of Scotland. Conjuring images of pastoral beauty, in juxtaposition with stark industrial landscapes, it is an ambivalent love affair between five people and the place they call home. From the dark, melodic folk of ‘A Single Truth’ to the lilting instrumentation and soaring harmonies of ‘I Lost Her to the Sea’ and ‘The Woods’, the album is an eclectic collection of cinematic soundscapes, each fuelled by the sweeping baritone of frontman Diarmaid O’Gallagher.

Having formed in rural Aberdeenshire at the turn of the decade after all separately playing in other bands, The Deportees came together to pay homage to the timeless music that had influenced them as youngsters. With an emphasis on natural instrumentation as a platform for strong melodies and their signature four-part vocal harmonies, the band take influence from their Celtic roots, as much as Americana and the genre-defining folk-rock of the 1980s. Now, The Deportees are ready to unveil their unique blend of rich sounds to the world in the form of this impressive debut.

Catch The Deportees live at their album launch party on 4th November 2017 at Dunbar Street Hall, Aberdeen.

You can now buy and stream A Single Truth, the band's first single from their debut album, on iTunes and Spotify. The Birth of Industry, the debut album from The Deportees, is out on 3rd November 2017.

KVASIR reveals new single ‘French Girls’!

For fans of... Digitalism, Justice, Basement Jaxx, Giorgio Moroder

“...a heady, warped piece of euphoric techno-pop…” - The Line of Best Fit

"...multi-layered colour." - Clash Magazine

"...immersive dance music..." - The Skinny

On the back of his successful self-titled debut EP release in 2016, KVASIR returns with a brand new single, French Girls, out on 29th September 2017 (impact date 13th September 2017) via AWAL.

French Girls is another atmospheric French House inspired track straddling the line between retro dance music made famous by the likes of Giorgio Moroder and the contemporary sounds of Digitalism and Justice. You can stream and embed French Girls on the KVASIR Soundcloud page.

Having been named one of the top 25 Scottish acts to watch in 2017 by BBC Radio’s Vic Galloway, KVASIR further enhances his burgeoning reputation on the Scottish music scene through the release of another stunning track. Eminently danceable due to it’s funk-driven baseline and guitar segments, French Girls pulls you in through its memorable chorus and hooks; a sound The Line of Best Fit describes as “…euphoric techno-pop…”.

Despite the clandestine nature of the project, and not knowing who is behind the mask, KVASIR’s debut EP gained a well of impressive support from the likes of the aforementioned The Line of Best Fit, Clash Magazine, The Skinny, BBC Radio Scotland and Amazing Radio. With the sun setting on another summer, KVASIR is aiming to extend the heady summer nights through his exhilarating dance music as he gears up to release three singles over the course of the next three months.

French Girls by KVASIR is out on 29th September 2017 via AWAL.

Hawk announce UK tour dates!

For Fans of... Warpaint, Savages, Daughter

“…waves of heavy percussion and

intertwining riffs."

- DIY

"... a raucous dip into empowerment..." - The Line Of Best Fit

“…stunning…” - Noisey

Following their previous majestic release, Sin, Berlin-based HAWK will shortly return with the sweeping passion of new AA-side Can’t Explain / Below, out on 17th November 2017 via Veta Records. In the meantime, HAWK have announced they will be playing a number of UK tour dates as well as supporting The Drums in Berlin.

HAWK originally formed in London in 2014. They now produce all music themselves and have also recently started working with Rocky O’Reilly (And So I Watch You From Afar) to help develop their post-rock sound. In addition to their musical endeavours, front woman Julie is also a skilled illustrator and has recently launched Female Fronted Drawn Together - a project through which she has created a playlist of admirable female bands/musicians and created an illustration to accompany each song.

Since the release of critically acclaimed singles such as Take It Away, Mirror Maze, Once Told and most recently, Sin, HAWK have received support from Noisey, Stereogum, Wonderland, DIY and The Line Of Best Fit to name but a few. Combining an abrasive edge with a beguiling grace, activism is at the heart of all HAWK create, with their music covering a range of topics including inequality, gender-preconceptions, and generalisations faced by different social groups.

Catch HAWK live at the following dates:

15th September - Sofar Sounds, London
17th September - Head For The Hills Festival, Manchester
18th September - The Cluny, Newcastle
19th September - The Adelphi, Hull
21st September - Paper Dress Vintage, London
23rd September - Sunflower Lounge, Birmingham
28th September - The Lido, Berlin (w/ The Drums)

Inspired by Irish history, the Catholic church and its mistreatment of women, Below oozes a twinkling, ethereal splendour as the spine-tingling emotion of Julie Hawk’s celestial vocals flow. With a rich, haunting grandeur, a shimmering delicacy is juxtaposed with a searing passion and dark undertones, conveying the track’s message with a captivating grace. Julie explains “as an Irish woman, both looking back at how women were treated in the past and the desperate lack of progress today, I feel betrayed by my country. We’re still fighting for basic reproductive rights for women and seeing an embarrassing response from our government.”

Similarly, Can’t Explain is another example of HAWK’s acute social awareness and ability to create powerful soundscapes with a unique, compelling elegance. It was written as a reaction to people’s ignorance and the power privilege has to erase the voices of those who need to be heard. A gritty slice of grunge-filled indie, its propelled by thrashing riffs and a seething passion. Can’t Explain showcases the soaring power of Julie’s vocal at its most intense, as a potent sense of urgency rages throughout.

AA-side Can’t Explain / Below is out on 17th November 2017 via Veta Records. You can listen to HAWK now on Spotify and Apple Music.

North Atlas release new single ‘Another Ocean’!

For fans of... Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy, Awolnation

"...moody electro rock with both

menacing industrial riffs and pop-

laden hooks..."
- Team Rock

"...soaring, impassioned majesty..." - Gigslutz

Glasgow's alt-rock quartet North Atlas present their dynamic new single Another Ocean, out now via King Of The Woöds Recordings and is available to buy and stream on iTunes and Spotify.

The video for the single premiered on Gigslutz and is now available to watch on the North Atlas YouTube channel.

Another Ocean is a song about moving on and starting again. Written as the result of the end of a relationship, the lyrics reflect the feelings of self doubt, isolation and misery, accented by anthemic pop-rock melodies and soaring choral harmonies. Vocalist Leon D Hunter goes on to say; “the uncertainty of the future is an endless ocean in-front of you. This makes you feel like you're an imperfect person among a sea of people who from the outside seem to be doing well. You become a cast away, who arrives at a separate island to that of your former life.”

The audio for Another Ocean premiered on Team Rock and is now available to stream on the North Atlas Soundcloud page.

Brothers and founding members Leon (vocals) and Cam Hunter (drums / samples), had previously played together in a variety of bands within the Glasgow circuit, but decided to incorporate new members Drew Lesslie (guitar) and Kai Cairney (bass) when they wanted to develop a more prominent electronic sound. The band have now been together since 2016 and feel ready to embark on bigger and better things to come. Another Ocean was produced by Dan Wellar (Enter Shikari), helping North Atlas continue to create the authentic electronic-rock sound they’ve been honing and now feel ready to embark on bigger and better things to come.

Another Ocean by North Atlas is out now via King Of The Woöds Recordings and is available to buy and stream on iTunes and Spotify.

nav/attack release single ‘Centipede’!

For fans of... Kraftwerk, The Glitch Mob, Boards Of Canada

"... seamlessly skates between the line of a technology-masked society and the raw human conscience."
- The Hollywood Reporter

LA based glitch-pop outfit nav/attack follows last year’s EP Errrors with dystopian themed single Centipede, out now via Sparse Symmetrics and available to buy and stream on iTunes and Spotify.

The single is also available to stream on the nav/attack Soundcloud page.

Centipede is set in a post-apocalypic future, where breathing outside is illegal and everyone is addicted to narcotics-infused candy. A hypnotic, whirring cacophony, the track races with the glitchy speed of retro arcade games, building tension that opens out into a cinematic soundscape.

Formed as a solo project whilst Andrew Lynch was on a promotional trip to Europe with previous band The Goldberg Sisters, nav/attack have received acclaim from the likes of The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, KCRW and LA Weekly for last year’s Errrors EP. Now, with the addition of drummer Jason Echeverría, they hope to draw UK listeners in with their surreal other-worldly creations.

Centipede is out now via Sparse Symmetrics and is available to buy and stream on iTunes and Spotify.
