Idlewild announce single ‘Every Little Means Trust’!

"A Grateful Dead-like grace which could be their best work so far."
- The Independent

"...their best album yet." - The Times

“…a genre-traversing, surprising, melodic, poetic, anthemic record with heart, smarts and soul.” - Drowned in Sound

Idlewild release their latest single Every Little Means Trust on 27th April 2015 via Empty Words.

Every Little Means Trust is the third single taken from Idlewild’s critically acclaimed album, Everything Ever Written, which has been championed by the likes of The Independent, The Times, Guardian, Drowned In Sound, Q, Kerrang!, The Skinny and many others.

The track has a laid back and disarming melody that showcases just how much Idlewild have matured as a band during their hiatus, with vocals and guitar flowing together perfectly. The single was woven together with the idea that hope sits side by side with disappointment, as visited in classic Idlewild singles such as American English and Love Steals Us From Loneliness.

After discovering Canadian actor and writer Jay Baruchel (How To Train Your Dragon, This Is The End) was a long time fan, the band invited him to Scotland to feature in the forthcoming video for the single.

“Idlewild have been the soundtrack of my life since I first heard them in Bristol when I was 19.” remarked Jay “To say that I’m excited would be an understatement. I am proud and honoured and kind of still floored that I get to be a part of their work in any way whatsoever.”

Jay currently stars in hit FXX series Man Seeking Woman, which has just been confirmed for a second season. He is also about to start shooting Goon 2, the sequel to Goon, written by Baruchel himself and Evan Goldberg, with Baruchel taking on directorial duties this time around.

Idlewild front man Roddy Woomble had this to say about Jay’s involvement: “We were delighted to find out that Jay was such a big fan of the group. It is always nice to know that your work is appreciated. The fact that he’s also been so generous with his time by agreeing to come to Scotland and appear in the video was wonderful. He is a very talented and interesting actor.”

You can stream the track via Idlewild's YouTube channel.

Siv Jakobsen releases video for single ‘Dark’!

"...glittering acoustic melodies, swooning strings and acoustic bliss."
- The Line Of Best Fit

For fans of: Ane Brun, Laura Marling, Rachel Sermanni, Damien Rice

Siv Jakobsen has unveiled the video for her second single Dark, released 13th April 2015 via Nordic Mellow Records.

A follow up to the intimate How We Used To Love, Siv's new single Dark explores themes of mortality, loneliness and existential angst. The video premiered on The Line Of Best Fit and you can watch it now via Siv's YouTube channel.

You can also stream the single via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

Siv Jakobsen also released a gorgeous live video performing previous single, How We Used To Love, for an Emergent Sounds Unplugged session. The video premiered on The Vinyl District and you can watch it now on YouTube.

You can also watch the official video for How We Used To Love, which premiered on The Line Of Best Fit, via Siv's YouTube channel.

Dark is a deeply sad, yet beautiful song. Siv’s ability to capture and convey emotion with her voice, combined with heart piercing lyrics, demonstrate once again that she is a songwriter who, one day, could stand proudly beside inspirational artists such as Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez, as well as her contemporaries Ane Brun and Laura Marling.

Siv has been performing in Europe and the US since 2011, creating emotive music that embraces the themes of melancholy and sadness. However, there is a distinct contrast between her music and stage persona, as Siv's naturally sunny personality juxtaposes beautifully with her brooding music, making it all the more effective in a live setting. She honed her talent while living in a tiny apartment in Brooklyn which she describes as “a door with a bed”, firmly immersing herself into the world of the struggling artist and challenging herself to reach greater heights.

With an EP planned for the summer, and support for her previous single from the likes of The Line Of Best Fit and Folk Radio UK, 2015 looks set to be Siv’s biggest year yet.

Dark is released 13th April 2015 via Nordic Mellow Records.

Daydream Frenzy debut album ‘Pride & Wonder’ out now!

"...a pretty impressive offering..."
- Jim Gellatly, The Scottish Sun

“…really catchy Rock.” - Alex Baker, Kerrang! Radio

For fans of: Twin Atlantic, Angels & Airwaves, Jimmy Eat World

Daydream Frenzy have released their debut album, Pride & Wonder, via Daydream Records.

To celebrate the album's release, the band released the explosive track 'Jade's Song' as a free download. The track premiered on Gigslutz, and you can stream and download it for free via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

You can also stream and buy single and album title track Pride & Wonder from the Daydream Frenzy BandCamp page and watch the powerful video that accompanies it on the band's YouTube channel.

The three-piece, who derive from just outside Aberdeen, have been building momentum over the last three years through their continuous live performances, which has led to a steady rise on the Scottish live scene, as well as the release of two EP’s. It’s easy to see why the band have picked up a following in such a short time with their ability to write a killer melody allied to their angsty, heartfelt lyrics and sprawling, chugging guitar pieces.

Pride & Wonder exhibits these traits and more throughout the record. From the opening gambit of instrumental leader ‘Maiori (Nuovo Inizio)’ to the impossibly catchy, and Twin Atlantic inspired, upbeat pop-punk of ‘All The World’. Then there’s the experimental electro-pop offering of ‘Rêverie’, feeding off the spirit of bands such as Prides and Foals, to acoustic track ‘Wandering Man’, which recreates the foot stomping heart emoted by the likes of Lumineers. Sonically, there is a lot going on here as Daydream Frenzy illustrate a refreshing flexibility in their songwriting and a willingness to traverse genres.

Formed in January 2010, Daydream Frenzy are made up of Donald Barclay (vocals/guitar), Hamish Gordon (drums) and Fraser Henderson (bass). In 2011 they released their debut EP Calling Stars before following this up with their second EP Colours and Sound. This helped the band announce their arrival as an up-and-comers and saw them pick up support from the likes of Kerrang! Radio, Amazing Radio, Scuzz TV, XFM, Artrocker and STV, leading to support slots with Big Country, The Maine and Don Bronco and will see them co-headline a national tour with Divides throughout March and April.

Pride & Wonder is released digitally via Daydream Records and is available to buy on iTunes. It will be available physically in all good record stores on 20th April 2015.

Lewis Fieldhouse releases video for ‘Not Done Loving You!

"...moving and musically skilled... - GigSlutz

For fans of: Lucy Rose, Ben Howard, Mystery Jets, Sufjan Stevens

Lewis Fieldhouse has unveiled the video for his forthcoming single Not Done Loving You, released 13th of April 2015 via Theodore Washington Recordings.

The video premiered on GigSlutz and you can watch it now via Lewis Fieldhouse's YouTube channel.

You can also stream the single via the ABoF SoundCloud page.

A heartfelt vignette that cuts to the very core of Lewis as a songwriter, backed up by hooks that dig in and won't let go, Not Done Loving You is just the song to welcome in the springtime.

Not Done Loving You was written when Lewis lived in Liverpool and he explains, ‘I used to busk a lot on Liverpool’s Church Street and a couple of months after I broke up with my ex, she walked past whilst I was playing. Now, the break up was fine, it didn’t hurt at all until that moment. I don’t think she even saw me, but I wanted the ground to swallow me up. So I wrote a song about that feeling. I wrote the guitar part and then the rest just kinda fell out.’

To celebrate the single’s release Lewis will be playing several acoustic shows. There will also be two free entry full band shows on the 13th of April at Oporto Bar, Leeds and 14th of April at The Finsbury in Finsbury Park. Other tour dates to be announced.

Not Done Loving You is released 13th of April 2015 via Theodore Washington Recordings.

The Helmholtz Resonators release download track ‘Vermillion Hue’!

You can also watch the trailer for The Mystery Of Woolley Mountain on The Helmholtz Resonators' YouTube channel.

During their numerous jaunts through time, space and sound, the band have experienced many adventures. In this musical extract, Dr Garland Vanderbilt has found himself separated from the rest of his band of time travelling audio scientists. Faced with the intense beauty of his new surroundings, and caught in a moment of deep reflection, Vanderbilt is left facing the enormity of his current situation, which finds him sinking into a wild depression. This instrumental single is a sonic representation of his frame of mind, blending elements reminiscent of Pink Floyd and The Beta Band to create an atmospheric audio tapestry.

The Helmholtz Resonators are a renegade group of psychedelic time travelling audio scientists who have been playing and writing music together since the turn of the century. They studied acoustic science and the work of Hermann Von Helmholtz, being particularly inspired by his book On the Wires of our Nerves, essential reading for anyone interested in the science of sound and sound synthesis. Heavily inspired by the ethos behind concept albums, the band have created a repertoire of songs that are as eccentric as their image, touching on influences as diverse as The Residents and The Kinks to LCD Soundsystem and Hieronymous Bosch.

The Mystery Of Woolley Mountain is released 13th April 2015 via Proving House Digital.
